Man... I didn't understand you until this interview. You remind me of a more successful version of me. The one thing I think you showed here was vulnerability and some of your insecurities, thought processes, and dreams. I'm a psychology nerd, and I think there are one or two little things that popped through here. Talking about wanting to enjoy life and the pressure of being a company man... That hits home for a lot of us even in our 9-5s (lol we never get that ppv money though). We're roughly the same age ( early 30s), and in a different life I can see us having some pretty "narly" convos enjoying some herb, talking about sports and discussing life. I think Dana got one thing right: You're cool in person. Just be that person. Anytime you feel that pressure welling up inside to be entertaining for the fans or people please (perhaps bc of all of the deep internal things you notice and feel insecure about, but maybe not), just let it go, and be Aljo. It's ok to say the authentic things, it resonates even if it seems like the wrong things or not "company man" things to say, just look at Sean Strickland. Lol he should have been canceled a long time ago, but somehow him owning that he feels like a POS that is lucky to just be sparring, alive, and not addicted to pills and in found him a fan base.
Or something like that. Haha take what I said with a grain of salt, I am a random on the internet after all. One day I'll have a podcast that talks about alot of this kinda stuff (and I genuinely love people, I can tell you do too). Ig you could call it my personal title journey. If I ever get the number of viewers that would tempt a UFC champ I'll reach out, reguardless you made a fan. Wish you the best. We get max 100 years on this crazy rock if we are lucky. Enjoy life and your vacation. Bless.

I can help you understand. Izzy has 2 times as many title defenses as aljo had, and aljo isn’t nearly as big of a star. If you did a poll to every ufc fan on which rematch you’d rather see it would be 90% Strickland vs Izzzy compared to 10% O’Malley vs Aljo. I think aljo deserve a rematch but I just can’t stand how people act like it’s the most insane thing that Izzy would get a rematch and aljo wouldn’t . I could probably name like 10 more reasons. It’s just not a good comparison. Izzy has done much more in his division than aljo has, Izzy is a more exciting fighter, Izzy has more fans, Izzy’s beaten more top level guys, Izzy has been in bigger fights, has brought the company much more money, Izzy fights more consistently. I could name more things but these are just all off the top of my head.. And like I said I do believe Aljo deserves a rematch but I don’t think it’s unanimous

i actually believe that yan beat him in the rematch, but still, it was a close fight and aljo had a gameplan. tj chose his own fate lol that’s not up to aljo. the henry win should’ve been unanimous lol but judges are usually on crack.
and even before the gold, aljo has great wins under his belt, so put some respect on his name.
also, “split decision” means jackshit most of times lol. sandhagen vs chito was a split decision and it was the clearest of whitewashes in the history of whitewashes. something being unanimous or split just depends on the judge’s pov so forget that as an argument.

The 10-8 wasn't correct in my opinion but depending on the way Mike Bell saw it, could be the situation and the same ref that stopped Aljo would have definitely stopped Valentina in the fifth round.
