Playing with the Seymour Duncan PATB-1 pickup set. Plugged into a 2005 Splawn QuickRod with a TC Electronics Alter Ego x4 delay unit in the loop for delays. EVH 412 cab.
You don't have to worry about string height on the PATB type pickups, affecting string pull so much (and therefore sustain) because they wrap a "magnetic field" around the string. Normally the more high powered the pickup, the more sustain is affected, but it doesn't happen really with the PATB type. I think they were created with this in mind. I already have a PATB-2 Distortion on one Jackson guitar, and I'm thinking about putting the PATB-1 on the other Jackson I have because I can't live with the JB even with magnet swaps!! I think the Parallel Axis idea is a cool one, even though most people don't like the way they look (You can always put a cover over them)!!
@@2112GTR 3 years gone by but maybe you’ll remember. Was the PATB2 a 24/7 flamethrower or did it clean up well enough for Van Halen and/or classic rock? How would you compare it to say, an SH-5 Custom and SH-6 Distortion, SH-4 JB, etc.?
Brian Mcgonigal I run the at 3/32 on both sides. If find at this height I get a fairly punchy tone out of them, and it doesn't appear to be affecting string pull.
Sounds awesomeeeee
Sounds great man
Thanks man....

What's your preferred height on this pickup??
