I know this a ten year old video and you won’t see this but you are the only one that explained this in a simple way. Thank you so much.
You're very welcome! I'm glad you found it useful! 🙂
I've watched bigger channels explain this but no one made it so simple and understandable as you have. Thank you so much.
I can’t believe it’s nine years old but it beat all of the other video that I watched.
Thank you so much
You're very welcome, and thank you very much for the feedback! 🙂
This is an actual informative video. 99% of content on the web nowadays is just simplified copied junk with no real original content.
You explained this 100% better than all the "pro" channels. THANK YOU
I already got it when you did the part where you're spinning the wheel, then you even showed the math, couldn't ask for more.
The accountant/analyst in me really appreciates this explanation. The lower the gear ratio, the easier the energy expenditure! Greatly demystifies the gearing. Thank you very much! I get it now💡😀
I like and appreciate that you explained every little detail to figure out how gear ratios work. Other videos just tell me to be on low and high without explaining why, but your explanations helped a lot (especially drawing out the distance travelled helped me put it together).
Thank you. This video helped me to understand the gears better than any other video that I've watched. I'm now a subscriber.
You're welcome - I"m glad it helped. And thank you for the feedback and the subscription! :)
Exact same boat!
excellent video... wish i had math teachers such as yourself when i was a kid
seriously
This is how concepts are taught.
1 padlde= 4 tyre rounds.
This is where you became a very good math teacher.
I'm 69 and getting back into biking. This helped a lot. You are never too old to learn new tricks.
Absolutely true about never too old! Good luck with your cycling comeback! 🙂
@@AllAroundMathGuy thank you.
Blessings from India & Canada, for such a lovely crystal clear video... Thank you for your time & humbleness to post such good video...May the divine be with you & your family always...
Dude, you are doing a wonderful job with these videos, plz keep them coming!
Thanks for sharing this mate. I saw videos of people explaining but this is the first time I understood why this method is more efficient.
Wow! Thanks so much for this, super informative, this really helps me choose the right gear for the right terrains. I would have never thought about it through a mathematical perspective!
Thanks for the feedback, and I'm glad to hear that you found it helpful! :)
That's called brilliance in simplicity. Crystal clear without a doubt. Nice work bro.
Thank you! I never understood how this worked but you simplified it without talking over my head. I'm trying to comprehend motorcycle transmissions and they operate in a more complex manner but still mostly similar to this idea.
*I really like the **Latest.Bike** . It is just amazing... very light weight so it is easy to take it upstairs in the apartment where I live. It looks great and it feels great while riding. I definitely recommend this bike. You won’t be disappointed 🙂*
Best and most thorough video on gear ratios with crisp clarity. Well done!
Wow, thanks! Glad you found it useful! 😃
Thank you. I’ve been watching bike people try to explain this but now that I see the math. It makes perfect sense.
You're welcome! I'm glad it was helpful! 🙂
I'm really struggling in ratios and fractions and I'm glad this video helped me for my exam. You even used bike cogs to explain ratios, thank you man.
You're welcome! 🙂
Very informative. Thanks for the presentation. So helpful!
Thank you! This is exactly the information I was looking for.
Well Explained !! Thank you very much!!
I really appreciate your explanation. The way you started the video showing 4 rotations on the rear wheel with one rotation on the crank, then 2/3 rotation on the rear vs 1 rotation the crank is a great visual. I understand ratios but this really shows the relationship of front gears vs rear. Awesome job!
Thanks so much for your detailed feedback. I'm happy that you found it useful! :)
Wonderful, thank you for helping me understand it all.
WOW... and explanation even I can understand. Thank you so very much! What a well done video! Ur GOOD!
Great job! Love it when I learn something new/ helpful.
I'm a kid going to high school and I just got my new bike today. It is my first bike with gears and now I understand how to use the gears. Thank you for explaining so easily how gears work. I am now going to subscribe.
You're welcome, and thanks for the feedback. I hope you're enjoying your new bike! 🙂
I feel so dumb. I was doing the exact opposite (big in front, small in back) and STRUGGLING! Excited to try this combo instead for tackling the hills near me. Thank you!
Same.. I thought big in front and small in back making it hard to pedal was what I wanted for climbing hills and while it was working I was exhausted. Excited to try this out and just get better at shifting..
You're welcome! Good luck with those hills! 🙂
Thank you, this has been very helpful!
This is brilliantly explained. Thanks 🙌
Thank you so much. It was math at the end. Wonder why I didn't do this earlier. I have watched tons of videos on this topic but never before did truly understand what a lower/higher gear or easier/harder gear meant. I kept getting mixed up in why the largest front chain ring was highest while the largest rear chain ring was lowest.
This clear everything up Thanks a lot.
Thank you so much for this explanation. 👍🏾
You're welcome! Glad it was helpful! 🙂
Wasted my time on three other videos before I found this one explaining it in a super easy way. Thanks.
Wow this video taught me a lot about gears shifting and their impact while cycling. Thumbs up !
Excellent Lesson. Thank you very much.
Thank You. Now I understand bike gear set-up even better
great job on the video, it really helps people in learning just as it helped me today.
this is the explanation I was looking for, thank you

your video changed the way i bike to ease:)
@@AllAroundMathGuy would staying on the biggest gear in front and the easiest gear in the back be okay also?
First time I exactly know the science behind this......very informative video...
Excellent explanation! Well done
Year 2023. WATCHING this video, well explained, thank you so much and keep posting
Thanks for watching, and glad you found it useful! 🙂
Great vid! Thanks!
I have NOT seen a better explanation of gears and ratios - excellent video, I agree with other comments here - I wish he was my maths teacher
Thank you so much - I'm glad you found it helpful! 🙂
Thank you for making your videos. As far as being to basic and to much time spent on basic arithmetic... I guess it depends on who you think your audiance is or who you are tryng to teach. I think they are awesome.
Oh My Glob! Thanks dude! :D this video helped me a lot than those other video that I can't understand,But! this one really helped me,Thanks dude imma sub ;)

I came for a gears but stayed for the math lesson 😂
You got a two-for-one deal 😁
That was really well explained, thank you.
+Bumble Bee You're welcome, and thanks for the feedback! :)
First of all he must be from Canada. Second he must be an engineer. Nobody just has a Ti-84 program for fun unless you are using it for upper division math. Also thanks for the awesome video!
You are correct - I am Canadian 🍁 But not an engineer; however, you got the Math part correct - teacher by day, hence the TI84 program! And I'm glad you enjoyed the video! 🙂
This was great!
Thanks - glad you liked it! 🙂
Thanks mate!
Well presented and easy to understand. Good job.
Thanks for your comment, peatear42... I appreciate the feedback and I'm glad that it was helpful!
Thanks for a great video. I wanted to clarify one thing, if the size of teeth of one circle (gear) differs from the other, can we make the comparison using the same units (i.e. teeth)?
Nice job, well presented! Understood very well .
I am new into biking your video's make it simple for to understand thank you.
