I just re read the series. I got major Jacin-winter feels, even bigger than last time. Cinder and Kai are my favorite couple, but there's no doubt in hell that Jacin and winters relationship is the saddest. If you read stars above, and then the series again, you'll fully grasp my meaning. The fact that they loved eachother since being children is just so.. I don't have a word for it. Beautiful? And they couldn't be together. Not with Levana as queen. And then there were all those threats. Threats to Jacin about winter and vice versa. Then there's her hallucinations. My heart broke for her every time she had one. And Jacin was almost always there helping her through it. And then when he had to fake her death. Re reading it again, I realised how heartbreaking that chapter is. To her knowledge at the time, that was the last time she would see him. So she told him she loved him and she wouldn't to spend the last moments of her life kissing him and she was glad that he was the one to kill her and she was scared but she did not hesitate to accept it. All she wanted was to protect him. she wanted him to be safe and if him killing her was the way to do it she was going to let him. But Jacin cared about her that much and even more. So he faked it. To protect her and risked his life in doing so. I absolutely love winters character. She's brave and strong and quirky and different and gentle and kind and beautiful and amazing. I just feel like their relationship doesn't get nearly as much attention as it deserves.

I agree. From the moment I started this series, Kai was one of my favorite characters. He added something you don't commonly see in stories - The government. When our main characters leave behind a mess, somebodies got to clean it up. Kai is doing his best to run a county, and I love him so damn much!

Thorne is my fave. Thorne is mine don't touch him. I'll maybe share with Cress.) AND AT THE END CINDER GOT STABBED AND IT JUST CUT TO THAT SCENE WITH SCARLET AND THE WHOLE TIME I THOUGHT CINDER AND CRESS WERE DEAD AND IM LIKE WHAT THE HECK JUST HAPPENED???? Ahhh this book gave me all the feels. But I think I like Cress better. (I know, like if this book made me all cray, just imagine what Cress made me do. Yeah. You don't want to know.)

I really can't decide which couple I love the most but I do really like Scarlet and Wolf together. HOWEVER, I agree that the whole human flesh thing really should have been addressed. I saw someone on tumblr say something about Scarlet x Ran being little red riding hood and the wolf and Scarlet x Wolf being Beauty and the Beast. Therefore I was hoping that maybe the extra wolfiness would have been reversed but alas it did not and nothing was addressed.
Am I the only one who thought that Scarlet was sooooo good? My heart breaks every time people say that Scarlet was their least fave in the series. I'm also a really big fan of Scarlet and Wolf together even tho I agree with you on his hunger for human flesh.
Such a fantastic book! I listened to the audiobook and the narrator was just amazing doing all the characters voices, i even forgot that it was only her doing all the job.
1. Cress + Winter 2. Scarlet 3. Cinder I was a little disappointed at the whole turning Luna into a republic thing, but it was also a relief. I mean, the entire series builds up to the moment where she becomes Queen of Luna, that she is Princess Selena, the rightful heir to the throne. I was hoping for the entire book to see her as queen and then she just gives it up. But my relief came from the fact that she would become Empress--mostly because she was marrying Kai. I had for some reason expected her to become both, as Levana had planned for herself. It wouldn't have worked though, not if Kai and Cinder were in love. They wouldn't have been able to ever see each other. And when Cinder said that her friends all were going back to Earth, I hated that. I wanted them all to be together. Also, in stars above, I heard that the wedding shown is Wolf x Scarlet. Though I love their relationships, it's still my least favourite among the couples.
I can't even think of a reason as to why Merissa Meyer chose them over Cinders wedding, or even Winter's. Cinder was the Protagonist, after all. Ever since Kai had met Cinder at her stand, we were all waiting for the moment when they would be married. Even though we know it happens, it needs to be written out. i NEED to read it. Also, Jacin and Winters wedding would be amazing to read as well. Though he could be a jerk sometimes, you knew he was keeping all his love stored for her and you could really feel the emotions he felt towards her. I absolutely adored their relationship. As I did Thorne and Cress'. They're so cute, and just an amazing couple. I would've really wanted to see their wedding to. Overall just wanted more scenes of them in love, as I want with Kai and Cinder. There aren't enough scenes, and will never be that show their cuteness. Wolf and Scarlet we're passionate, but they were missing that cuteness that the rest of the couples have.
I agree I thought Luna should have been a constitutional monarchy. That way the lunate could have a blood heir but still have representatives that hold the monarchy to a series of checks and balances. Also if they eventually did go to a republic, the change would be gradual rather than drastic.
Finally someone who shares the same thoughts as me. The whole book was building up to this one moment where Cinder becomes the queen of Luna, only for her to give up the throne. Kai said that being a queen was never Cinders thing, but I just wished we got to see that side of her throughout the books. All we saw is how Cinder was surprised to be princess Selene and then accepted the fact, she even made everyone believe in her. The whole population of Luna believed in her as their queen, and then she just gives it up like that. Isn't the Kai's nation a monarchy as well? It's not impossible. I wanted her to be a badass queen so badly.
How can you not love Wolf and Scarlet?! I feel like they are the couple with the biggest challenges to overcome. Even more than Kai and Cinder because of the nature of Wolf's mutation. Poor baby, he really got the shit end of the stick but Scar sticks by him and isn't bothered by the things that were done to him! How can you not love that?! They are pretty solid and work on their relationship more than the other couples. They are my favorite couple, just in case it wasn't obvious, followed by Cress and Thorne...... I don't really dig Winter and Jacin as a couple. I totally agree about the trouble Wolf has to have gone through after the end of the novel. That has to be an uphill battle for them. I totally agree on the character development of Thorne! So good!!! Loved him so hard in this book!
My favorite books in order are Cress, Winter, Cinder and Scarlet. My favorite protagonist has to be Cress because she's a genius lol. Cress and Thorne is also my favorite relationship, because they have the cutest relationship ever besides Cinder and Kai. I have never read a last book that's this good. A lot of them disappoints me, but not this. Winter is on point and I love it. This series is definitely one of my favorites!!

My Order: Winter Scarlet/Cress Cinder (which is still absolutely amazing) LOved this book:) I think my favorite part was the part where they were eating the cake, but it's so hard to choose:) So sad my favorite series of all time is now over :(
I just finished winter today and oh my god I SHUCKING LOVED IT. it was absolutely amazing and even though it was so long every single minute I spent reading it I loved. I think it was one of the best books I have ever read and will continue to be one of the best books I've ever read. I really loved winter and just everyone. I now am just like "WHAT DO I DO NOW?!" but luckily I have stars above so I can get a little more lunar chronicles before its all done.

I felt like Winter just barely had any enough "screen time"; i felt like she was just a side character. And her story arc is so boring compared to the others. Though I love her relationship with Scarlet. And I never knew Winter was black until I ended the book.... Like imagined her like the usual snow white... Snow white skin and stuff..

Winter is my alltime favorite. Idk what it is but I LOVE her. I think it was how freaking kind she is, despite being crazy. When you're constantly hallucinating, protecting people and putting their lives before yours must be really difficult, but she managed it. Not only that, but she's also funny. I love the little jokes she cracks about being crazy, and I love how protective and dedicated people are to her. She's the type of person that could inspire loyalty in anyone and I love that.
I don't care if it's 2:00. in the morning and I have school tomorrow, when I saw that you posted this I was like EVERYTHING MUST STOP. Also you posted this on my birthday! Thanks for the present haha 😁 We had practically all the same favorite parts and just GAH I loved this book. I loved the way it ended but I need MORE. I agree that I would LOVE a "Throne and Cress Travel the World" short story 😍 This book had so many moments where I legitimately screamed at it and had to take a moment and others where I was on the verge of tears just cause I loved it so much. This series will forever hold a special place in my fangirl heart ❤
I loved not only how it showed how hard it was to pull off the revolution (which made the end so satisfying) but showing how they needed to address the problems of running a country (that scene with Cinder holding her own in the cabinet meeting and Kai being all, "Yeah that's my girlfriend," was such an eff yeah moment) a lot of the time books gloss over that (it's revolution then maybe happy times epilogue) but Cinder and Kai having to deal with those issues and planning change made it feel well rounded and more realistic. Loved it!
The entire book I felt so SORRY for Levana. She is a unique villain in a way and I love her for it. I hate how everybody depsises her but she has gone through a lot. I am not saying she should be forgiven (she needed to die) but in my opinion, Channary was the villain of the entire series. She made Levana the person she is.
Yeah, she had an awful childhood, but then again, so did Cinder, Cress, and Wolf, but she took things away from the "bad childhood" and brought it onto the psychotic level.
I'm gonna sound like a crazy person, but I ADORED the moments with Levana. She is a wonderful villain and made this series so interesting. Her psychotic personality is what caused everything to start. She can get sassy sometimes and I love it.
I loved the fact that there can be a revolution but the story is still sassy and funny. How they come up with ideas along the way when the things they had planned/kind of not planned didn't go their way. One of my worst moments was the wedding when Kai attacks Levana and she puts on a glamour of Cinder. I was really scared that it actually was Levana manipulating Cinder to take the glamour of Levana so that Kai would have stabbed Cinder. Thanks for the booktalk, it was great to relive some of the magical and hilarious moments of Winter. :)
I need to reread the book to say goodbye to the series 😭😭😭! and to remember everything!!!... I really liked the scene when they hugged Cinder while they were torturing wolf's mom,,, it was REALLY SAD, and I felt bad for Cinder for everything happened to her, she never rests and everyone bully her but she kept fighting, the only "rest" she had when she passed out after she got away from the execution!,,, she had gone through sooo much! and Winter x Jacin were my least favorite characters, they were so annoying imo,,, and I don't understand why Scarlet take care of her, even if it was explained in the book 😆!!

Cress and thornes relationship was the cutest thing in the world my two favorite characters they're absolutely adorable together!
I love the aftermath of cinder's trial scene!!(along with the scene itself, off course). And the part where they exposed levana's face unglamoured. I also love how amazing cinder did in the meeting at the end after starting out so timid and unsure of herself. And there are soooo many other scenes!...this series has become one of my all time favourites.
In my opinion, the series is literally PERFECT🙌🏼🙌🏼❤️💯😭 everything just fits into place and all the parts in the books that make me feel sad or mad are just their for a cause❤️❤️❤️

(SPOILERS !!!) i really like scarlet and wolf together! and about the whole mutation thing, i thought it was fine. the strom guy/mutated wolves seemed saner than we thought, and scarlet IS his mate. we see that despite any horrific mutation, his loyalty lies with scarlet, and he can resist whatever he needs to if he has her. UNPOPULAR OPINION TIME: i wish levana did get to know love. i wish that she was imprisoned, but cinder eventually cracked through her, and helped her. queen channary was nothing but evil to levana, and i don't know... her death seemed somehow wrong and sad to me. am i the only one who thinks that? i think i am.

I wish I had more of her. there were many times I had to put the book down and cry for her. she never cried for herself. being someone who deals with my own kind of crazy, she made me feel stronger and not so alone. I have my own jacin guard. often I feel like winter, who only feels sane around him. but felt she was burdening him, especially in the beginning. I really appreciate Marissa Meyer for giving my own little crazy princess. :) also have to say, she didn't want to be like levana, which is why she was crazy. I loved that part of her personality.
Thorne is fantastic! He's my favorite character! Also that part when Cinder and Queen Levana were fighting in the throne room...damn! I never expected Queen Levana to do that haha. I loved this finale. Such a great series :))

You should read Fairest and Stars Above if you haven't yet. Fairest is a sort of prequel about Queen Levanna. Stars above is a collection of short stories in the universe.

I really can't decide which couple I love the most but I do really like Scarlet and Wolf together. HOWEVER, I agree that the whole human flesh thing really should have been addressed. I saw someone on tumblr say something about Scarlet x Ran being little red riding hood and the wolf and Scarlet x Wolf being Beauty and the Beast. Therefore I was hoping that maybe the extra wolfiness would have been reversed but alas it did not and nothing was addressed.
I would like to add that I do know that scarlet and wolf are supposed to be the little red riding hood story but I still held out hope.

I was a little disappointed at the whole turning Luna into a republic thing, but it was also a relief. I mean, the entire series builds up to the moment where she becomes Queen of Luna, that she is Princess Selena, the rightful heir to the throne. I was hoping for the entire book to see her as queen and then she just gives it up. But my relief came from the fact that she would become Empress--mostly because she was marrying Kai. I had for some reason expected her to become both, as Levana had planned for herself. It wouldn't have worked though, not if Kai and Cinder were in love. They wouldn't have been able to ever see each other. And when Cinder said that her friends all were going back to Earth, I hated that. I wanted them all to be together.
Also, in stars above, I heard that the wedding shown is Wolf x Scarlet. Though I love their relationships, it's still my least favourite among the couples.
I can't even think of a reason as to why Merissa Meyer chose them over Cinders wedding, or even Winter's. Cinder was the Protagonist, after all. Ever since Kai had met Cinder at her stand, we were all waiting for the moment when they would be married. Even though we know it happens, it needs to be written out. i NEED to read it. Also, Jacin and Winters wedding would be amazing to read as well. Though he could be a jerk sometimes, you knew he was keeping all his love stored for her and you could really feel the emotions he felt towards her. I absolutely adored their relationship. As I did Thorne and Cress'. They're so cute, and just an amazing couple. I would've really wanted to see their wedding to. Overall just wanted more scenes of them in love, as I want with Kai and Cinder. There aren't enough scenes, and will never be that show their cuteness. Wolf and Scarlet we're passionate, but they were missing that cuteness that the rest of the couples have.
I agree I thought Luna should have been a constitutional monarchy. That way the lunate could have a blood heir but still have representatives that hold the monarchy to a series of checks and balances. Also if they eventually did go to a republic, the change would be gradual rather than drastic.
Finally someone who shares the same thoughts as me. The whole book was building up to this one moment where Cinder becomes the queen of Luna, only for her to give up the throne. Kai said that being a queen was never Cinders thing, but I just wished we got to see that side of her throughout the books. All we saw is how Cinder was surprised to be princess Selene and then accepted the fact, she even made everyone believe in her. The whole population of Luna believed in her as their queen, and then she just gives it up like that. Isn't the Kai's nation a monarchy as well? It's not impossible. I wanted her to be a badass queen so badly.

How can you not love Wolf and Scarlet?! I feel like they are the couple with the biggest challenges to overcome. Even more than Kai and Cinder because of the nature of Wolf's mutation.
Poor baby, he really got the shit end of the stick but Scar sticks by him and isn't bothered by the things that were done to him! How can you not love that?! They are pretty solid and work on their relationship more than the other couples. They are my favorite couple, just in case it wasn't obvious, followed by Cress and Thorne...... I don't really dig Winter and Jacin as a couple.
I totally agree about the trouble Wolf has to have gone through after the end of the novel. That has to be an uphill battle for them.

I just finished winter today and oh my god I SHUCKING LOVED IT. it was absolutely amazing and even though it was so long every single minute I spent reading it I loved. I think it was one of the best books I have ever read and will continue to be one of the best books I've ever read. I really loved winter and just everyone. I now am just like "WHAT DO I DO NOW?!" but luckily I have stars above so I can get a little more lunar chronicles before its all done.
This is 18 minutes but it feels like 5. Awesome job Christine, as always!

I felt like Winter just barely had any enough "screen time"; i felt like she was just a side character. And her story arc is so boring compared to the others. Though I love her relationship with Scarlet.

Winter is my alltime favorite. Idk what it is but I LOVE her. I think it was how freaking kind she is, despite being crazy. When you're constantly hallucinating, protecting people and putting their lives before yours must be really difficult, but she managed it. Not only that, but she's also funny. I love the little jokes she cracks about being crazy, and I love how protective and dedicated people are to her. She's the type of person that could inspire loyalty in anyone and I love that.

We had practically all the same favorite parts and just GAH I loved this book. I loved the way it ended but I need MORE. I agree that I would LOVE a "Throne and Cress Travel the World" short story 😍 This book had so many moments where I legitimately screamed at it and had to take a moment and others where I was on the verge of tears just cause I loved it so much. This series will forever hold a special place in my fangirl heart ❤

I loved not only how it showed how hard it was to pull off the revolution (which made the end so satisfying) but showing how they needed to address the problems of running a country (that scene with Cinder holding her own in the cabinet meeting and Kai being all, "Yeah that's my girlfriend," was such an eff yeah moment) a lot of the time books gloss over that (it's revolution then maybe happy times epilogue) but Cinder and Kai having to deal with those issues and planning change made it feel well rounded and more realistic. Loved it!

This was easily my favorite in the series. Then Cress, Cinder, Scarlet. But really they were all fantastic.
The entire book I felt so SORRY for Levana. She is a unique villain in a way and I love her for it. I hate how everybody depsises her but she has gone through a lot. I am not saying she should be forgiven (she needed to die) but in my opinion, Channary was the villain of the entire series. She made Levana the person she is.
Yeah, she had an awful childhood, but then again, so did Cinder, Cress, and Wolf, but she took things away from the "bad childhood" and brought it onto the psychotic level.
I'm gonna sound like a crazy person, but I ADORED the moments with Levana. She is a wonderful villain and made this series so interesting. Her psychotic personality is what caused everything to start. She can get sassy sometimes and I love it.
I loved the fact that there can be a revolution but the story is still sassy and funny. How they come up with ideas along the way when the things they had planned/kind of not planned didn't go their way. One of my worst moments was the wedding when Kai attacks Levana and she puts on a glamour of Cinder. I was really scared that it actually was Levana manipulating Cinder to take the glamour of Levana so that Kai would have stabbed Cinder.
Thanks for the booktalk, it was great to relive some of the magical and hilarious moments of Winter. :)

I really liked the scene when they hugged Cinder while they were torturing wolf's mom,,, it was REALLY SAD, and I felt bad for Cinder for everything happened to her, she never rests and everyone bully her but she kept fighting, the only "rest" she had when she passed out after she got away from the execution!,,,
she had gone through sooo much!

SERIOUSLY this book was everything I was hoping for plus more out of a conclusion, I was hooked from the very beginning! Cress is still my favorite book out of the series but this is right after! SO CUTE. I also hope Iko ends up with that guard who she kept clashing with towards the end, that would be great haha.
(SPOILERS !!!) i really like scarlet and wolf together! and about the whole mutation thing, i thought it was fine. the strom guy/mutated wolves seemed saner than we thought, and scarlet IS his mate. we see that despite any horrific mutation, his loyalty lies with scarlet, and he can resist whatever he needs to if he has her.
UNPOPULAR OPINION TIME: i wish levana did get to know love. i wish that she was imprisoned, but cinder eventually cracked through her, and helped her. queen channary was nothing but evil to levana, and i don't know... her death seemed somehow wrong and sad to me. am i the only one who thinks that? i think i am.
just finished reading the book. im so sad its over but so satisfied. you asked for my feedback so please dont hate! while cress and thorne are handsdown my favorite couple, and while you said winter made you upset, shes honestly my favorite character. I wish I had more of her. there were many times I had to put the book down and cry for her. she never cried for herself. being someone who deals with my own kind of crazy, she made me feel stronger and not so alone. I have my own jacin guard. often I feel like winter, who only feels sane around him. but felt she was burdening him, especially in the beginning. I really appreciate Marissa Meyer for giving my own little crazy princess. :) also have to say, she didn't want to be like levana, which is why she was crazy. I loved that part of her personality.
