Im currently homebound because of severe agoraphobia. I have had pretty severe anxiety (GAD, Panic disorder etc) my whole life. To @theaspieworld, and everybody else reading this, how do you cope with your anxiety? I know that a lot of people who have autism and/or adhd also have mental issues like depression and anxiety. Would love to hear how all of you cope with the anxiety, Therapy, medication etc. Everything would be helpful.
Watching your video, I’ve never connected with someone more. You speak like my brain thinks! I was diagnosed with ADHD at 32, but two years later, I’m starting to think it’s actually autism or a combo. My son is autistic, and probably my daughter. I want to change my lifestyle so it actually supports my “autistic superpowers”, as well as my kids. I love your stories about using your strengths to your advantage. Also, your adaptations to your life are giving me tons of ideas!! I also have a hard time with language. I’m over here waiting for more people to access telepathy lol. Thank you for what you do and keep going!! You are making a difference!
Sadly I stay at home probably 80 to 90% of the time I used to be in the Army and I could deal with a lot of my issues Asperger's specifically but a couple other diagnosis to but I actually help people with different mental illnesses and developmental disabilities for years and unfortunately it got to the point where I can't anymore but I still enjoy watching all the information you spread and your seems like you're a great guy and keep it up wish you could keep doing this forever
Hey brian I was wondering do you think your conditions got worse as you've gotten older, or is it more because of a different life stage and expectations and assumptions people have towards you that changed. I have found my issues have seemed to engulf me after a few things changed. I look back at work/social life of my younger years and it's worlds away from where I am now. I wonder if it's that the issues I had were always there but my workies excepted me and recognised my strengths and helped me with the stuff I found hard or if I am genuinely crapper than before.
Aww you can do it believe in you! I was like that before!! Thank you so much for the comment! Please subscribe to my channel to see more videos from me :).
I Love this Video!! You always make me Happy!! I understand myself better when I watch your videos!!🙌🙌🙌❤❤❤❤🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 you're on Your way to 1million!!!!! Faster than you think!!!🔥🔥🔥🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌 my son is just like you and me too!!💓💓💓💓💓💓
My hyper-focus is in the art forms such as English, History, Music, and Art. I can see the errors in historical text, which I have found, in one of my college books. I have been working at formulating my own masterlist for when I write my fiction. Strangely, I am an Empath. I try to see all sides the best I can. I have been this way my whole life. I have recently found out that two of my children are more Asperger's and my youngest is High Functioning Autism. (I am actively trying to get my own evaluation done. I was diagnosed as having ADHD when I was 37. Hopefully, I know more about me by June, my 40th birthday.)
Regarding parents going "They're just into Minecraft" ... the connotations of that are "they're limited". But if you take the "just" out of it and say "They're into Minecraft" it's an interest, a strength, and it's a starting site for growth into all kinds of interests but it has to start by growing off of something that's already invested in.
My challenge in life right now, is finding a dr that will help me with getting diagnosed and my son. I am 45 and my son is 24. I am raising my granddaughter who is 6 that was diagnosed October with autism and ADHD. After researching about her, I realized that my son must be autistic, asperger's and me as well
I have so meny mental brake downs, most people a no with Autism have not been to university. It's got to be easy for people who more clever, them others.
Near the end of video you says about autism hour. I do feel with the autism hour. Shops know that NT like the sensory experience it makes people want to shop. If the shop was autism friendly all day, there would less customers because of the customers because less awesome (I go with awesome as you say) autism people in the world population. Same with gyms. Let's turn music up like a nightclub. It get people motivated to exercise. I could for joke one time ask someone at reception at the gym to turned the music down.
Hello! I’m interested in adding close captions to your videos, is that something you’d be up for? I have family who are deaf and want to add captions to your videos for them (and other people who are hard of hearing)!
Hi! I just found your channel & I love it! I was wondering how you find someone that will do diagnoses? And what do they do or ask you so that they can diagnose you? Thank you!
45.50 I think we are almost forced by society, to try making money of the things we like. It's almost like we shouldnt be able to enjoy things without turning it into money if that makes sense. Just a comment on this. And also, i Love art, but I'm not sure i ever be able to make it into a career. And also that make take the fun out of it, because it's now "work" and not "just fun"
I had my kids do AQ test..n it said he's autistic, all the symptomps are there except empathy. So we took him to therapist, n he said he doesn't have the spectrum becAuse he has empathy. He diagnosed my kids with school phobia. The problem is my son has been this "odd" even before school. Can aspergers have empathy?
How about National Autistic Society? Is it valid? I ask you because you received your diagnosis from this service as you referred in a previous video so you could provide me some informations about it.Congratulations for your channel !!! Go for it !!!!
Andrew Morton - I have been with many jobs, I have seen unemployment. I didn’t understand that my differences make me awesome. As is said in AA literature ‘learn to live right-sized’. I am ‘right-sized’ now. I clean houses for money; in essence, I get paid for getting therapy. Find your bliss, Andrew... life is waiting for you...
Andrew Morton If you don’t have a therapist already, I recommend searching therapists in your area. Therapy isn’t everything, but it’s a good starting place, and the right therapist may be able to help direct you to resources that would be helpful for your specific problems.
#TheAspieWorld Do they have services in UK for services to help adults with Autism to help give you support and rides to work like we do here in USA Vermont. What is the services like over their? Do you get any support or live independantly?
So the secret to why life in places is dull , is because it's built for neuro typic people, I end up holding my head in pain, when stuck in a shop for a long period of time. Also Reading feels to over crowded, I don't like that.
As a neurotypical, may I ask how a place can be made less dull or more engaging for someone within the spectrum? As a sister as well as a girlfriend of two men within the spectrum, any advice would be appreciated.
Sorry I actually have a little Chihuahua and he's I'm messing around with me right now so my comments might not be as understood but generally I would have ear plugs on me at all times cuz hearing is one of my big issues and again like sunglasses or Progressive you know lenses something like that now that I'm older I need actual corrective glasses so I'd get the darkest Progressive pair I can and unfortunately I had moved somewhere for about a year for work and I didn't realized they had just built a minor league baseball sporting Arena a couple blocks away and every Friday at about 10:11 p.m. fireworks would go off and oh my gosh it was just torture it I would try to drive away or go somewhere but it was just it was rough. What personal issues how do you cope with certain things I'm I know you talked a lot about how to help others deal with things but you know you might not be as how do you personally deal with some of your major difficulties?
I think it is an absolutely terrible idea that you are trying to push the change of the majority for the minority of us. To add, I think it will have the opposite affect with what you're trying to achieve on an acceptance basis. Also, you do put a positive spin on asd etc (skills and abilities) but I can personally say that 95% of the time, it's sucks out in the neurotypical world. The way you articuthe condition is not balanced or realistic imo
Justin Hinchliffe - Dan isn’t ‘pushing’, he is encouraging. ‘Minority’ does not require validation; the majority requires education and understanding. Like any other label, it will be pulled off and revealed in good time. It might be helpful to take the word ‘terrible’ out of your vocab and other negative words... just for a day... I am 54 and have learned to laugh in the face of ‘acceptance’ basis. Throw your ‘you’ around; know that you are unique and challenge ‘acceptance’. Maybe this comes with age... be the ‘old soul’... keep ‘em guessing...
How do you overcome issues in your daily life?
Get away from the situation.
Im currently homebound because of severe agoraphobia. I have had pretty severe anxiety (GAD, Panic disorder etc) my whole life.

It depends on the circumstance. Sometimes I apply the grey-rock strategy, sometimes total avoidance; rarely direct confrontation.
Soooo Awesome
I like the fidget cude and I went to a class for dealing with pain about 3 Years ago, I squeeze my hands or a stress ball... It sooo helps😀
I understand your issues with spatial awareness as I am diagnosed with spatial awareness disorder.
I was 41 before I got finally diagnosed. It explains soooo much!
Me too!😁
Interesting. I was 65 :-)

Hey Dan, do you have any plans to come to Australia

Yes, some even have hyper empathy
Yes. Often to the point where it’s overwhelming and socially crippling, which, ironically, looks to the uninitiated like a lack of empathy.
How about National Autistic Society? Is it valid? I ask you because you received your diagnosis from this service as you referred in a previous video so you could provide me some informations about it.Congratulations for your channel !!! Go for it !!!!

You can become an author even at 63
