Some of us get around 17 to 25 and realize our hidden dreams and hidden goals have nothing in common with the people we grew up with.

    I'm in and out of these neighborhoods in Detroit on a daily basis and you actually do need to treat every intersection like a 4 way stop. Because people ignore stop signs and red lights all the time.

      @@tonymaldonado1659 areas considered the “hood” in detroit still have immense history and culture with many still having least some surviving beautiful architecture. crime in the city has already decreased a good amount so far making a lot of dangerous areas more habitable for revitalization. the best way to fight against gentrification (if that’s your type of thing) is trying to heavily involve locals in the turnaround of their neighborhoods.

    I never understood the glorification of this life. These people act like it's a badge of honor to be like this. They choose to make it dangerous. They know right from wrong but just don't care or value life. People complain that there isn't any investment into those communities, but when there is, what happens?     The entire state of Michigan has abandoned places, entire ghost towns. You do not have to be scared in Detroit. I was laughing most of the video because they were exaggerating so much. Detroit is not all negative. They have so many opportunities compared to the rest of the state. You need to be on alert anywhere in America. I learned that after being robbed multiple times in small towns. There are just as many jobs in Detroit as anywhere else. Tons of opportunities. They are delusional and blind if they dont know that.

    I'm from Flint Michigan. Grew up in the hood. Never hung out with a crew or gang. Did my own thang. Kick a lot of azz. At 18 went in the service and decided to kick the real enemies azz.     I’m in all worst neighborhoods in Detroit working all day east 7 mile, red light district, outer drive, joy rd, west side, etc. and one thing I have learned is just mind your own business. Don’t disrespect no one, you good. True gangsters, doing their own thing protecting their hood nothing wrong with that. I respect them, don’t interfere. Who they got beef with is their business not mine. One love Detroit.

      @@emirhodzic8278 it's not really about that at all the people of Detroit are good people and like you said if you mind your own business and show respect you're going to be fine the major problem with Detroit is the city and the government management completely focusing on the wrong things when they should be in the rough struggling neighborhood fixing them up but in reality they ignore them and put all their time effort and funding into downtown and surrounding areas which is completely the wrong way to fix the city when the real residents live in the rough neighborhoods not downtown

    i do uber in detroit a lot. always end up in super rundown areas like this but honestly if u mind ur own business and respect the ppl around u youll usually get it back. ive been there almost everyday for a few months and havent had any bad interactions other than a few ppl that just had a bad day and attitude which is normal everywhere tbh.

    I grew up in Detroit in the 80’s and 90’s and as white kids my brothers and I never had any problems. I miss Detroit and hope she gets back on her feet.

    I was born and raised in Detroit and I can say these guys are an embarrassment and don’t represent our city AT ALL. They very much gassed it up to make themselves look cool but really embarrassed themselves and our city. Detroit is actually very safe ESPCIALLY if your not from there and not involved in no bullshit

    I use to travel to surrounding areas of Detroit about a decade ago. I would walk into liquor stores after work for smokes and a drink and just act normal. People of all kinds know when you are stupid or scared. Treat people as people and 90% of the time you are ok.

    I'll never forget this. My first time living in Detroit, I didn't even live in the "Bad" part. I remember opening my window one night and hearing what I thought were construction tools, I looked at my GF who's lived there her whole life and I said "How are they doing construction this late?" She just laughed at me and said "Those are gunshots". Needless to say, I stayed in my area 😂

    I Never was from the hood, and dont claim to be. I think its my personality ive always been an introvert, so that part of me kept me out of trouble. During my teenage years, i had a friend that actually was involved in the streets, but he never tried to get me on to it. We had mutual respect for each other. He knew i wasnt that guy, but we still got along. I never had that mindset though. I would have got caught if i went that route. Today im 33 and still introverted.

    Sure Detroit is a mess but everyone says a city is the most dangerous in the world. Compared to Los Angeles, which I lived around skid row for a few years, it’s much worse than Detroit hoods and gangs. As well with Memphis and New Orleans.

    that places feels hopeless, like the pov is diff there. i saw people doing crack on the bus regularly coz they lost their homes but detroit pov is unmatched probs close to places like flint and baton rouge

      I'm from Newcastle and the crack epidemic is thriving here I've seen that too. Theres some really run down areas that are really hopeless and are decaying in terms of housing, buildings etc. I think there's a misconception that the UK doesn't have some really bad areas. But we do .
