Diana Bucur, soprano, has been a soloist for almost 20 years with The National Opera in Iasi, Romania. Graduated from The National University of Bucharest.
In 2015 Diana performed Marius Herea’s works: Genesis, Elegy, Largo and Extracts from Marius Herea’s “ Casanova Opera”, with The Ploiesti Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of Ovidiu Balan.
Diana’s voice is beautiful, warm, with tremendous qualities.
She is a complex soprano, with proven success over the years, from Mozart, Puccini, Donizetti etc. Here “Genesis” required a Wagnerian complexity very difficult for the voice. The orchestration of this piece is amazing. This piece could be used as a movie soundtrack. It stirs imagination vividly, and it is so complete without the visual part that it doesn’t need a story.
The orchestra starts with a statement of “Once upon a time”.
Then, the voice expresses the desire to make sense of the universe.
It has a Wagnerian atmosphere. The voice advances in full sync with the orchestra towards light, beauty, and life.
The leitmotif from Adagio Amoroso is present as an eternal flame.
Towards the end, there is a refreshing lightning moment and a metamorphosis. There is a balance between instruments in dialogue with each other. The optimistic ending resonates happiness through love and harmony. It is a blissful ending of a superb musical poem.
