I own just about every festool sander, all except the two older ETS models, and had totally written off the DTS as unnecessary until watching this. IDK why I never thought about it as an adjacent surface sander. I’ve only ever thought its usefulness has to do with the tip of the pad. Brilliant perspective shift calling out that use case! Just picked one up at my local festool dealer and already put it to work today.
@@TheOlzee It's not its best use. The pad is squared off, so the paper and the pad both vibrate off the adjacent surface, whereas the DTS's pad is chamfered away from an adjacent surface.
@@hellobrandonscott tough one for me, especially never really played with them. I’m a decorator so would need for filler on open walls (most would cover that) apart from the iron shaped one but then apparently that’s the only one that will get tight in on door frames, skirting’s etc where they all meet the wall or more woodwork. Would have thought for the price it would be more straightforward
I really wish that Festool would redesign the ETS-125EQ sanding pad for turbo vacuum like the 6in, I’ve taken a drill and added more vacuum holes to the pad, it actually works better.
I think if you buy 10 festool tools that you can register for warranty on their website meaning they're all motored, festool should give you a coupon for one free tool. valued perhaps no greater than the average price of the 10. sounds fair to me.
What are the advantages (if any) of the DTS 400 vs the RO90 with the triangular pad in delta mode? I can see the DT 400 has a larger pad. Is there any other advantage of theDTS 400?
Finally somebody explained differences well

Is the RTS not capable of doing adjacent surfaces? I’m trying to figure this out

Sanding up against an adjacent surface without marring that adjacent surface. Works great for that. The RO90 is often too big for that use case.
