ImagineThersNoHeaven Anyway, gotta say my point entirely. I'm a fan of tuxedomoon since 80s, I'm an old guy :( but Soma is one of the WORST things they made. ANY SECOND of Holy Wars is totally awesomely superior to this song. This is, to me, something they did one evening they were totally fucked (and I'm not moralist: I do the same) but nothing about their magnificent mastery in depicting mitteleuropean fascinations and traps. Indeed they all live in italy and belgium now.
Reggie Postlethwaite an "old guy" eh? It' relative isn't it? I hate to say it but actually i like to say it, if it helps... what, will you qualify your opinion that 'soma' is, is the WORST... LMAO... one of the WORST..?? Go ahead, say why. BUT, if you even can, keep in mind it's all subjective. Opinions truly ARE like assholes. Never mind the stink. That the assholes can talk, that annoys me no end. Anyway, yada yada yada.... i have ALL the TM records. Have 'holy wars' but it's mia atm. Five here though- "half mute" "desire" "ship of fools" "what use/crash" remix" & "a thousand lives by picture" OK. Which one smokes Anything by Supertramp? LOL! Trick question! All and none. There was a quickie-quik lesson in "stupid", you can't judge one, against another. Subjectivity smashes bullshit, every time. Me point? There isn't any. How about that, something new!
"Soma" is the greek word for "Body". Absolutely relative with the video above. The repeating words are recalling an ancient pagan ceremony or a black mass. The choir is reminiscent of the litanies in orthodox churches. A brilliant song, albeit a totally sick one.
yes you are probably right... in that sense, I think, Andrei Rublev by Tarkovsky has a very similar message but at least in Western Europe, torture and widespread religious fanaticisim are no more, even though it exists in other countries
Enfin du free jazz écoutable. Et du synthé supportable. Merci.
At the very beginning of the pandemic in Jan 2020 an inner voice told me to listen to this song again after several years of absence........
today, 15 tears later, lubetube suddenly recommends this. and i've been listening to tux all this time. 😕
SOMA: Aldous Huxley control drug in his famous romance "Brave New World"

you're even more boring than Soma.

I think this film asks us if we should be so sure about that.
Strong.
Saw this on discog. Holy Wars era 7-inch with Winston Tong? Pretty dismal. Interesting to hear though.

I frequently tell friends that this is the Worst Song in the World and dare them to listen to it.
So far, not one has accepted that dare.
HALF OF TUXEDOMOON'S MUSIC IS SO PATHETIC!
