That first Mad World trailer hooked us all! Gears gave Halo a run for it's money back in the day. The Gears games were co-op and online multiplayer capable as well.
I enjoyed Gears, but it's not even remotely close. Halo 3, which was released less than a year after the first Gears, sold 3 times faster and ended up selling 3 times more units than Gears just in the original run. I think you're forgetting that Halo is one of the best selling franchises of any media of all time and the original trilogy is what made that. It's not a Fortnite, but it's still in the ballpark of Pirates of the Caribbean, X-Men, and Twilight. Gears made a billion, Halo made billions.
@@CChissel He didn't say Gears was successful, which is true, he said "gave Halo a run for it's money", which it did not. Lifetime, Halo has made something like 6-7x the money that Gears has.
Lore Break down in easy understandable bites: They live on a planet known as Sera. The humans were engaged in a war that lasted for about 80 years. Pretty much as soon as the a peace was established Creatures from the Underground known as the Locust emerged and started mass genocide against humans. After a few years of fighting the last remaining government decided to essentially nuke most of the major cities. 15 years after the emergence Marcus (main character) is broken out of prison because the humans were running out of soldiers. Marcus’s best friend Dom is also looking for his wife who left after E-Day because their children were killed by the locust along with Dom’s parents. Gears 2 is the humans doing an offensive move against the locust on their home turf underground. Gears 3 introduces a parasite that mutates everything and makes them explode upon death making it a 3 way war. Gears 4 is humanity after the Locust war has ended but a new threat has emerged and are kidnapping humans. Gears 5 the Locust are coming back
Mista Brrrly - Let me correct you on a few things. 1st off the WAR was started among the humans on SERA. It lasted about 100 yrs. The war devastated the ENTIRE PLANET Above and below. The Ultimate WOMD (Weapon of Mass Destruction) was the Hammer of Dawn. Almost equivalent to our Nuclear Bombs. The people of SERA decides to use it in the war and it nearly wiped out the entire planet. The Locust (Monsters) However, Had other ideas about the fate of the planet. Kill all of the humans and the planet may yet survive. So who really are the BAD guys in this story? Cliffy B. Stated in an interview that" Who we perceive as the Bad guys are not what we think". There's a TWIST to the story. I think I might have spoiled it for a lot of people. Enjoy.
To specify a few more things, the Lambent (the fungus) were actually introduced in the first game with the Lambent Wretches at the imulsion factory during act three. They got more of a proper introduction in two, but they didn’t pose as a larger threat until the third one. Think of the Flood from Halo, given they’re both zombie like enemies.
The UIR (Union of Independent Republics) and the COG (Coalition of Ordered Governments) would fight in a war that would last 79 years, over imulsion. Think of oil and the Middle East. After the hammer of dawn struck down and destroyed a shit ton of places, and the populations within them, the war between the two groups ended. Six weeks later, the Locust would emerge, starting their own war with the Serans/Humans.
Honestly, in a broad sense, i think Gears is very underappreciated *artistically*. It has incredibly splendid art direction, athmosphere, and splendid, but the action packed gameplay's so good its almost hard to soak in the ruins of the world.
Fun fact: Marcus Fenix, the player character in Gears 1-3, is voiced by John DiMaggio, Bender from Futurama. I remember learning that when I was a teenager playing the first game and it blew my mind. lol
The "Gears 2" Rendezvous trailer is one of my favorite trailers of that series, the poem was written by Alan Seeger and was published after his death in 1916 while serving with the French, and the poem was a favorite of JFK's.
That Gears 3 trailer hits a lot differently when you know the story of the characters. I definitely reccomend learning more about the story and why Marcus and Dom are the two greatest badasses in entertainment history. Also "I don't mute anymore" makes me and everybody happy. Here is a person who looked the system square in the eye and gave it the middle finger. I actually don't have words for the respect because English is a dumb language and the whole world should convert to Danish. Random language tangents aside, keep up the good work and good luck with the book writing, because I know how hard that is in any language.
Its a sad game. Even the hopeful parts are kinda fornlorn. Part3 has arguably one of the sddest moments on gaming history. Theres definitely more story clips about the entire series. As for you question about playing alone versus with others...thats something you tell by the game type and varies game to game and the game itself will state how many players are supported in its support materials, ads and boxart. Though certainly online multiplayer games (Gears, Destiny) is the industry standard, there are games that are solo play only (Jedi Fallen Order).
All trailers for the first four made me, with several years apart, add four new songs to my favourite playlist and they are still there! The choice of music is unbeliveable and this gameseries is one of the absolute best. The storytelling almost rivals that of band of brothers (almost). Great reaction and greetings from Sweden 😁
Hannah, of all the releases of Gears, the second one was the Most emotionally tiring one to play through. If you find the cutscenes of Gears 2, just wow, it was so emotional. None of the others hit me the way that Gears 2 did.
When Hannah gets frustrated we should instead say that the marshmallow is getting toasted lol BTW you should watch the Halo 3 Believe trailers there's an 11 minute compilation here on yt. Hard to miss it.
2:34 That creature is called a Corpser. It's a ground based heavy excavator monster the Locust use to dig massive E-Holes and take out COG forces, artillery, etc. All from rising up from the ground and launching a surprise attack.
So to answer the question about single player and multi-player, it depends on the games and what the game is made for. Many shooters have both a Campaign/Story mode, which tend to be single player and story focused (although some games have coop that can have you bring a friend, sometimes more, to fight with you) and a multi-player mode thats focused on gameplay ad the priority. Some games lean on single player, like most final fantasy games (only really excluding ff11 and ff14) and some games are purely multi-player, such as the first Titanfall and League of Legends. You can usually tell if it has multi-player or not when you get ready to buy it: the games tend to brag about their content and on Steam, it says single player/coop/multi-player if it happens to be included.
I just came across your channel and I loved this video. Not only because I am a writer and work in the game industry, not because Gears is my fave story franchise (1-3), but you're brutally honest and give some dope insight. Def subbed! 🤙🏿
🙏🏼🙏🏼 thank you! A writer in the game industry! Cool! I think my first novel would make a great game... So if you're higher ups are ever looking for ideas 🤣🤣 I got one lol.
Gears of war is an awesome franchise that pulls on the heart strings the lore behind it is incredible and depressing. The big monster at the start is a "corpser" a giant tunnelling spider basically.
A majority of the Gears storytelling is told within the gameplay and the cinematics. The trailers give little hints as to what's going on, but nothing a newcomer would pick up on. As others have mentioned, this series is depressing but it never stops from telling a cool yet realistic take on war. Let it be known, if you ever have plans on playing games; this is one I'd watch all through.
This used to give me nightmares when I was little. I thought someone was gonna use the chainsaw on the gun to tear my belly open while I was sleeping lol
Being self published is a trade off in many ways. Is freedom to publish what you want without a publishing contract breathing down your neck worth the lack of support it offers in terms of editing and marketing? Its a question of choice. I recently published my third book, a Christmas story and all I had to go on was word of mouth. Just remember that every book you publish isn't supposed to be an instant money sink, its more about how much each one earns you over a lifetime. Your first book might earn you very little, but add it up over the years as you grow as an author and it will amount to something.
What a fun channel. You asked about how games are played between people. Some games are single player only (one player only). That's designated in the info about the game when you play it. Some games game have multiplayer options. That can mean local multiplayer (a group of people all sitting in the same room playing together, often referred to as "couch co‐op"), but it can also be online multiplayer, meaning everyone needs their own PC or game console and you play over the internet together (often with voice chat over mics, you can do that in the game itself or over Skype/Discord). Some games will even COMBINE different options, so in Rocket League for instance you can be playing with people on your couch and in their own house at the exact same time which is quite fun. Oh and a crazy fact about online gaming? On PC it is completely free. You just jump in and play. On consoles it costs an additional monthly or yearly fee. Pretty wild. The Gears of War games all have both local cooperative play (complete the story with 1‐3 friends on the same couch), online cooperative play (beat the story with 1‐3 friends online) and online play (play with/against friends online). It's one game franchise known for always having some sort of local play option, so you can always play it with a friend sitting on your couch, which is a big part of the charm. The story is kind of like Band of Brothers (a group of soldiers with funny, charming, delightful banter), but they're fighting hordes of monsters emerging from the core of their planet.
Yes. Such an underrated comment. Not even the great music of Lou Rawls matches the emotion this carries to those who know the story, and that's really saying something.
There's rainbow six and ghost recon that are tactical shooters, then there's cod, battlefield, every other popular shooter that tries to copy, them and games like Titanfall 2, or the new doom games were can run and gun.
Great reaction! Great video! Also there novel's that are cannon to the story and game! Aspho Fields is a great read! And other as well You get to learn about the main Marcus and Dom back story how they met and why they join the army.
I swear Mad World Trailer and the Sound of Silence trailer are always my favorite because the way it gets to you and grabs your attention immediately for the series
*Revs chainsaw enthusiastically* Edit: Varies from game to game but most multiplayer games have a single player mode. Or at least they did in the good old days. Gears multiplayer is pretty cool since it let's you fill the game with AI players that are controlled by the system. So the games that usually rely on Internet access aren't locked away if your connection is ass.
fun fact not many people talk about, GoW takes place on a Space colony abandoned by their wider galactic community under the impression that they would all die out and they can resettle it
What I love about the Gears of War 1 trailer is that the *very* first trailer we ever got, was literally a silent cinematic of a destroyed city with Gary Jules "Mad World" playing. I've never seen a trailer set the mode quicker and more adamantly for a game in my life. Hooked us all IMMEDIATELY.
Little exposition, gears of war is a 3rd person shooter game (you already saw the shooter part) where you play as Marcus Fenix, a gear infantryman for the Coalition of Ordered Governments, or COG, in a war for humanity's survival against an underground species known as the locust and their horde of monstrosities borne in the underground sprawling cavern system known as the hollow. Throughout the series, Marcus and his team of gears known as Kilo squad continue to perform a number of daring (and desperate) measures while trying to prevent the extinction of humanity, all the while learning the true origins of the locust horde and their reasons for invading the surface in the first place.
Aaah Yes! Gears.. my childhood game.. that was obviously way too gory and violent for a young boy and that definitely molded who i am now. loved, love and will always love the Gears franchise. highly recommend reacting (or just watching) a video about Gears lore, its quite complicated but a masterpiece
2 years late but there are more than 5 Gears of War games. There are technically 7 games currently available for purchase. 8 if you count the remaster of the first game. All of the gears games in my opinion at least have some of the best storys in gaming history, and has been given the reputation of "being one of those games that can make a grown man cry". That's a pretty high compliment to give. The trailers drew us in, but it's the characters we stuck around for. And in each game you can either play solo or with a friend. It's action packed and gritty, but seeing how each character interacts with each other, cracks a joke and rips on one another in such a desperate time makes the story feel more real, and the characters seem more human. If you ever pick up the gears games just know you'll be on an emotional rollercoaster of laughs tears and anger. Not because of frustraition, the game isn't that hard if you're playing on casual or normal difficulties, but anger at the enemies you fight as you learn just how cruel the Locust Horde is
Gears of War is mine and my son's favorite game franchise. We love that we can play solo and co-op on and offline. My brother lives a few states away so to keep in touch he and my son play online together. I think we love it bc not only do they have the main story line but just as in real life they have so many side stories for each character and the personal battles they face. Dom searching for his lost wife Maria was the hardest for me. If anyone ever says they just want to try one video game in their life then I recommend this one. We can't wait for Gears 6!
Nine minutes of trailers and I have absolutely no idea what this game is about or how it's played or why I should care. This could have been 5 sad songs playing over video footage of a combine harvester driving through a corn field and it would have had the same impact.

When it comes to playing with multiple people, MOST games are both, but in recent years they've been in distinct sections. Those being the games story campaign, which is typically single-player nowadays, and multiplayer, which obviously has other players, but also has no story. The gears of war games started at a time where that wasn't the case, and you could do whats called split screen and play with another person in the same room as you on the same screen, and coop (cooperative, in this case meaning you do it with another player and you both support each other rather than fight against each other) mechanics were baked into the games core gameplay. The reboot games (4 and onwards) have continued this tradition, but that's a lot rarer now. Coop is now typically online rather than split screen if it exists at all. In any case, how it works is the players all control separate characters, and usually play with the same mechanics and protect one another but otherwise playing the game normally, outside of fucking around a lot more since you're playing with a friend. There are 2 games that I can think of off the top of my head that actually REQUIRE coop, but that's it. Both those games are from the same developer, that being Hazelight Studios and the entire games are constructed around that concept. Those games being "It Takes Two" and "A Way Out". Those games also give the players very different roles in a lot of different situations, since the entire game is built around having 2 players playing together.
Gears of wars one of the best third person shooter game ever, the. Characters in the games are awesome like cool train, Marcus Fenix and Dom, the dark atmosphere and the lancer chainsaw that you can cut someone in half, got me hook🔥🔥🔥. I recommend watching some behind-the-scenes story and some with Cole Train and the voice actors to get some story
From solo to multiplayer Single player (player vs game) Co-op (playerS vs game Asymmetrical (players vs player with diffferent rules) Multiplayer (players vs equal players) -copetitive (1v1v1v1...) -team (3-12v3-12) Mmo (loads of players vs open world) A game is a set of rules, anything can be a game Games that focus on story are usually single player Most multiplayer games also have a solo story campain and many story games also have a multiplayer mode
Gears of War is a very fun, violent game series, but is also sad as hell. The first 3 games is one of my favourite gaming memories on the Xbox 360. That "Mad World" trailer for the first Gears of War is legendary. Still gives me goosebumps to this day.
12:00 - Got the first 3 books for The Mortal Instruments: The City of Bones, The City of Ashes, and The City of Glass. They're pretty decent books, got them as a present from my then-girlfriend (still friends). But looking at some of the parts for the 2 or 3 books that came after them in the series, I decided I couldn't deal with the vampire friend trying to deal with 2 girlfriends who don't know he's double dating... (wish he stuck to the werewolf girl, they had something good going). Was supposed to try some of Cassandra Clare's other books, namely the ones that follow that awesome guy introduced in the series (forgot his name, but hosted that party and helped them out a few times).
Games that can only be played alone are known as 'Single-player' games. Games that can only be played with/against other players are known as 'Multiplayer only'. If its specifically against other players, it could also be known as 'PvP' (Player vs. Player) Games where you're intended to play alongside but NOT against other players are called 'Co-op' (short for co-operative). This is also sometimes referred to in some contexts as 'PvE' (Player(s) vs. Environment). Tho 'PvE' modes/games can often also be played alone optionally. Some games are just one of these, however many games have some combination. IE: Gears of War has a story campaign that you CAN play alone, but you're intended to play cooperatively with 1-3 other friends. Then GoW also has a separate multiplayer mode, were teams of players play against each other. These two modes are separate, but shipped together as two parts of one game. As for how the consumer knows what's what, usually the box or online store page of a game will have a little chart detailing what modes are and are not included in a game. (However there have been past controversies of games' marketing implying the existence of a multiplayer mode in a game, only to end up not having it.)
If you were curious enough I would personally recommend the Gears 2 intro and Prescott's speach, also from Gears 2. They'd tell you what's going on Also I remember crying the first time I saw the trailer for Gears 3. The guy running in that trailer was Dom. You saw him in one of the earlier trailers looking at a photo of his wife. Let's just say that by the time of the 3rd game it made a lot of sense why when a manster shoved a gun in his face during that trailer he just laid there and looked totally fine with dying. I could not stop crying the first time I saylw him just lay his head back like that. I wanted to mother that man so much
I'm sure you have gotten answers already but one more for the algorithm never hurts even if the video is full of DMCA music: some games are made exclusively for single player. they are very often mainly story driven but not always. a very large chunk of games are made with a single player mode, a cooperative multiplayer and a competitive multiplayer (so player vs. player) with these games it really depends on how the production valued which aspect of the game how much and how good the story is . and then there are games that are exclusively multiplayer and often have team based player vs. player as their main focus. these games usually don't really tell a story in their gameplay loop but often they build stories around the game like LoL does. but there are of course exceptions to all of these generalized statements, after all if something isn't commonly done it becomes interesting to explore for game designers both from a creative standpoint and a marketability standpoint.
The magic in older advertisments were that they impacted you. Some games were shit hiding behind a good ad, and some like gears were only showing you the greatness that was to come.
There are some games that are both Cooperative and Single Player, (Gears of War and Halo being prime examples) and even when a game is both the number of players can vary, they can range from 2 player coop to 4 player coop (or even more depending on the game), and then even further than that some Coop and single player games will have AI/Computer team mates until another player joins your lobby, who will then replace one of the AI teammates in your squad. Not all games can be coop and not all of them can be single player, however, games can be designed to be exclusively one or the other, there have also been instances of "Adversarial Coop" where one or more players will play as the main character(s) in the game and another player(s) will play as the disposable enemy types and/or the main antagonist(s) of the game (Perfect Dark is an example of this) The way you can tell, is usually through advertising, they will usually say what big gameplay modes will be available when they announce the game to the press. It's also labeled on the box for hard copies for console games and the respective store page on a PC distribution platform like "Steam" and console's internal store page for the games digital version.
I saw someone explaining the multiplayer but I want to clear up your actual question for you... not all games are multiplayer and you look on the back of the case or in the details of the download to find out, so a one player game will say single player. Then there is multiplayer, which means against each other and usually is followed by parenthesis saying how many like (2-150) 150 being an example of “warzone” the game, which is a “br” or battle royale (so many teams on a giant shared map that gets smaller). But then there is cooperative multiplayer games referred to as co-op. Both multiplayer and co-op have prefixes which are “local” (meaning on a single screen) or “online” (obviously meaning online, different screens through a network including lan), there is also “cross platform meaning the same as online but also that you can be playing on different devices like xbox, playstation, PC, mobile phone, etc. There is also “MMO” which stands for “massively multiplayer online” which is basically an open world where all the players who are on that game server (usually based on region, unless you can pick your server) are running around in the same game. So for example HALO (using this example because I'm not sure enough of all the gears games) he first version of halo would say single player, online co-op (2), local co-op (2), online multiplayer (2-8), and local multiplayer (2-8) And the newest halo “halo infinite” would sadly only say single player, online multiplayer (2-16), and cross-platform multiplayer (xbox, PC) An example of “MMO” that you've probly heard of would be world of warcraft. Didnt realise how long this would be... but here you go lol.
Games are PVP or PVE. Players vs players, or players vs environment/enemy. Then they will also be tagged as single-player, multiplayer, co-op, and verses. It's always printed on the back of a game the amount of players and a few other things like online capabilities and controllers capabilities. Or if you're buying digitally that same information is usually on the web page where you can purchase it. Otherwise it's up to advertisers and publishers to tell consumers what type of game they're selling. Like books and movies have genres, games have genres.
"hmm, bacon" 😄 (Insider joke for Gears players) Gears of War is a great franchise. Me and my brother used to play the camapaigns and a bit of co-op together, sadly no longer possible. The developer or publisher of a game will decide early on wether it will be a Single Player game, have co-op functionality for the Campaign (story) or other parts like a Hoard mode etc or be an entirely multi-player game. That's kind of like a producer deciding wether they're going to make a single movie or a whole multi-episode TV series. Making a multiplayer game means a whole lot more time, effort and money will have to be invested to make sure it works properly with 2 or more players at the same time, wether that be on the same console or online over the internet. Also, a story focussed game may not lend itself well to being played by different people at the same time.
Gears of War is going through the same pains as Halo, where the mainline games 1-3 were made by a dedicated team and were meant to be a complete story, the ones after are made by the Publisher Microsoft with barely any input from the original dev team, so the vision and feeling is lost on the "reboot" games.
When it comes to playing games together, not all games are like that and it's also become a little more complex over the years with split screen and online play. It's not just as easy as plugging in a second controller and pressing the start button anymore but it's still REALLY FUN depending on the game you are playing with a friend lol.
Basic story no spoilers is that after a bloody Civil War the locus(the monsters in The trailers) appeared and started a bloody merciless war for survival the first 3 games are of that conflict 4 & 5 are about consequences of how that war was fought and won and a new enemy emerging
9:30 yes, its meant to be played as a 4 player cooperative game. And no, not all games allow multiple players in any way, theres several types of multiplayer games, cooperative, competitive, etc. Most modern games have multiplayer even when they shouldnt, simply because it makes retention higher, so people will play more cause they can hop in with their friends. I dont think its a bad thing, but theres a few games where i question why they went the multiplayer route
Hi Hannah, quick answer to your question. Most games have story mode(campaign) and multiplayer (competitive) some just one or the other. And also there are others that are cooperative campaign, meaning you can play with friends thru the story mode and each is one of the characters. Gears of war is both coop and competitive multiplayer. :)
That was my doing.... I did preface this suggestion with the fact that these are made in a way of art. The last few were made by other developers/studios, hence why the trailer is made different. I mean, the concept is to fight with and for your brothers against the enemy. They're promoting friendship.
Song is Game of Survival by Ruelle, she is talented af, love her stuff. She has been becoming more and more popular this past decade so it wouldn't surprise me if you have heard her without thinking about it, or if that WAS her in the other video, or a remade version.
She got the guns out for Gears of War. Hannah, how in the heck do you have no idea what a multiplayer game is? Very often (especially with shooters) games have a 'campaign' mode for single-player story, a 'co-op' mode for playing through the campaign with friends, and finally 'multiplayer' for competitive team vs team or battle royale over the internet. The multiplayer games often include different rules or game types like 'capture the flag' or 'king of the hill' so it's not always just plain old shoot-em-up. You can look up examples of this on youtube. Search for words like the 'game title' and 'multiplayer'.
That first Mad World trailer hooked us all! Gears gave Halo a run for it's money back in the day. The Gears games were co-op and online multiplayer capable as well.
LMAO. Gears never competed with Halo buddy try again

Number of players 101:
Single Player (ie: Skyrim)
Co-op 1 - 8 players (usually)
Team 5 - 50 player (usually)
MMO As many plays as they can fit
Co-op means you can play the campaign/story together with friends, either offline or online.
Co-op is 1 - 4 through a story of a game
All trailers for the first four made me, with several years apart, add four new songs to my favourite playlist and they are still there! The choice of music is unbeliveable and this gameseries is one of the absolute best. The storytelling almost rivals that of band of brothers (almost). Great reaction and greetings from Sweden 😁
Mannnn the gears of war experience is so outstanding 🖤
Hannah, of all the releases of Gears, the second one was the Most emotionally tiring one to play through.
If you find the cutscenes of Gears 2, just wow, it was so emotional. None of the others hit me the way that Gears 2 did.
Brothers to the end hits right in the feels when you get to it in the story
Makes me cry every time.
When Hannah gets frustrated we should instead say that the marshmallow is getting toasted lol
BTW you should watch the Halo 3 Believe trailers there's an 11 minute compilation here on yt. Hard to miss it.
Gears of War 3 was the first game that ever made me cry
And part 2?
MASS EFFECT story trailers. You'll like those.
Love your content.
2:34 That creature is called a Corpser. It's a ground based heavy excavator monster the Locust use to dig massive E-Holes and take out COG forces, artillery, etc. All from rising up from the ground and launching a surprise attack.
Gears of war in a nutshell: Gym bros vs. Underground gym bros
Gears 5's campaign was excellent in my view and I can't wait for 6!!!
Anyone remembers having your friends over and if you had pizza GOW, Halo, Reach and Left 4 dead you had a good ass night
4:10 its a real poem from Alan Seeger who died in the battle of the Somme during WW1, he was engaged with the french foreign legion.
Gears of war...hits the feels man 😓 great game
This used to give me nightmares when I was little. I thought someone was gonna use the chainsaw on the gun to tear my belly open while I was sleeping lol
"Is she with the yuckies?"
Best line.
The Gears series is genuinely excellent, despite the brutality and savageness.
Check out the full cinematics from all cutscenes from the GOW franchise
Being self published is a trade off in many ways. Is freedom to publish what you want without a publishing contract breathing down your neck worth the lack of support it offers in terms of editing and marketing? Its a question of choice. I recently published my third book, a Christmas story and all I had to go on was word of mouth. Just remember that every book you publish isn't supposed to be an instant money sink, its more about how much each one earns you over a lifetime. Your first book might earn you very little, but add it up over the years as you grow as an author and it will amount to something.
OH wow... man, the memories. These Gears trailers were so good! You earned a sub!
Gears changed the landscape of gaming even to this day. Cover shooters are a dime a dozen because of a how well it was implemented in this series.
3:18 "Ohhh... your lady"
No, his Queen, his everything... the best history of the game
Yes. Such an underrated comment. Not even the great music of Lou Rawls matches the emotion this carries to those who know the story, and that's really saying something.
A great game that influenced (for better and worse) games for over a decade since.
Now *everything* is a "cover-shooter."
More like "cover-shooter" mechanic became so popular that it got implemented almost in every 3rd-person shooter or action.
There's rainbow six and ghost recon that are tactical shooters, then there's cod, battlefield, every other popular shooter that tries to copy, them and games like Titanfall 2, or the new doom games were can run and gun.
Even gears never went full on tactical shooter until gears tactics (a turn based strategy game) came out.
I love how blâsé you are about the copyright on your videos like a total bad*ss.
Also, looking absolutely flawless in this video Hannah ♥️
"Saving Private Carmine!"
Three games I think have the best lore! Gears, Fallout and Halo!
Agreed. I would put Bioshock in that category aswell but yea I agree.
Great reaction!
Great video!
Also there novel's that are cannon to the story and game!
Aspho Fields is a great read! And other as well
You get to learn about the main Marcus and Dom back story how they met and why they join the army.
I swear Mad World Trailer and the Sound of Silence trailer are always my favorite because the way it gets to you and grabs your attention immediately for the series
*Revs chainsaw enthusiastically*
Edit: Varies from game to game but most multiplayer games have a single player mode. Or at least they did in the good old days. Gears multiplayer is pretty cool since it let's you fill the game with AI players that are controlled by the system. So the games that usually rely on Internet access aren't locked away if your connection is ass.
fun fact not many people talk about, GoW takes place on a Space colony abandoned by their wider galactic community under the impression that they would all die out and they can resettle it
1-3 were literally amazing when it came to the story. Very sad
4 and 5 definitely didn’t hold my attention compared to the others .
Wy? I kinda like 5 i yes love gears of war 3 story was amazing 👏
Hearing those first notes to from the Gears 3 Sun Kil Moon trailer sent me chills again...
*grabs camera* time to be a nerd, and help give the lore
I have never clicked on something so fast I've been waiting for this one lol
Aaah Yes! Gears.. my childhood game.. that was obviously way too gory and violent for a young boy and that definitely molded who i am now.
loved, love and will always love the Gears franchise.
highly recommend reacting (or just watching) a video about Gears lore, its quite complicated but a masterpiece
I can’t tell you how many times I have re-watched this
2 years late but there are more than 5 Gears of War games.
Yea....
I genuinely can’t wait for you to hit 100k!
If you're looking for a "I'd watch that show" feeling, I recommend reacting to The Wolf Among Us trailers, (unfortunately I can't find a playlist for all the trailers).

I played this series with my now Fiance, and she cried during every game. I also cried...
Gears of wars one of the best third person shooter game ever, the. Characters in the games are awesome like cool train, Marcus Fenix and Dom, the dark atmosphere and the lancer chainsaw that you can cut someone in half, got me hook🔥🔥🔥. I recommend watching some behind-the-scenes story and some with Cole Train and the voice actors to get some story
no gears game can recreate gears 1 delta squad's humor and dialouge.
KineMaster is the editing software the person used to put the trailers together btw. Free version has a watermark
I think you’d find the 3rd game heart wrenching, just subbed!
From solo to multiplayer
Single player (player vs game)
Co-op (playerS vs game
Asymmetrical (players vs player with diffferent rules)
Multiplayer (players vs equal players)
-copetitive (1v1v1v1...)
-team (3-12v3-12)
Mmo (loads of players vs open world)
A game is a set of rules, anything can be a game
Games that focus on story are usually single player
Most multiplayer games also have a solo story campain and many story games also have a multiplayer mode
Omg I love your videos ordering your books off Amazon today!
If you want a story based game, you should check out Alan Wake
The gay war lock guy?
@@crhoades555 Yup.
All the games had a lot of story, but you are right that 4 and 5 turned it up a notch and made the stories more character driven
Games that can only be played alone are known as 'Single-player' games.
Games that can only be played with/against other players are known as 'Multiplayer only'. If its specifically against other players, it could also be known as 'PvP' (Player vs. Player)
Games where you're intended to play alongside but NOT against other players are called 'Co-op' (short for co-operative).
They'd tell you what's going on
Also I remember crying the first time I saw the trailer for Gears 3.
I wanted to mother that man so much
Gears Fan since 2006. Played and Beat every one of them.
They're 3rd person shooter games. Consistently great campaigns.
I'm sure you have gotten answers already but one more for the algorithm never hurts even if the video is full of DMCA music:
some games are made exclusively for single player. they are very often mainly story driven but not always. a very large chunk of games are made with a single player mode, a cooperative multiplayer and a competitive multiplayer (so player vs. player) with these games it really depends on how the production valued which aspect of the game how much and how good the story is . and then there are games that are exclusively multiplayer and often have team based player vs. player as their main focus. these games usually don't really tell a story in their gameplay loop but often they build stories around the game like LoL does. but there are of course exceptions to all of these generalized statements, after all if something isn't commonly done it becomes interesting to explore for game designers both from a creative standpoint and a marketability standpoint.
Not all games can be coop and not all of them can be single player, however, games can be designed to be exclusively one or the other, there have also been instances of "Adversarial Coop" where one or more players will play as the main character(s) in the game and another player(s) will play as the disposable enemy types and/or the main antagonist(s) of the game (Perfect Dark is an example of this)
The way you can tell, is usually through advertising, they will usually say what big gameplay modes will be available when they announce the game to the press. It's also labeled on the box for hard copies for console games and the respective store page on a PC distribution platform like "Steam" and console's internal store page for the games digital version.
Tbh the first gears trailer, the Halo 3 trailer and the fallout 3 trailer.were probably the defining trailers of that era
This game series gave many people emotional breakdowns throughout the whole thing.
So for example HALO (using this example because I'm not sure enough of all the gears games) he first version of halo would say single player, online co-op (2), local co-op (2), online multiplayer (2-8), and local multiplayer (2-8)
And the newest halo “halo infinite” would sadly only say single player, online multiplayer (2-16), and cross-platform multiplayer (xbox, PC)
An example of “MMO” that you've probly heard of would be world of warcraft.
Didnt realise how long this would be... but here you go lol.
Definitely recommend watching the intros to the games!
First one is one of the best classic trailers.
Best videogame storyline told through cutscenes thus far is (and remains) the StarCraft franchise... Starting with "Wings of Liberty", of course.
That first trailer chefs kiss
OMG I LOVE GEARS!!! Watching your reaction is gonna be funnnnn!!
Gears is just a Masterpiece, and the lore inside is cool, chaotic and sad, all at the same time
A blast from the past for me! I played these in a long time :) Hope you're doing well
"hmm, bacon" 😄 (Insider joke for Gears players)
Gears of War is a great franchise.
I remember i bought an xbox 360 after watching this and halo 3 trailer. What Golden Gaming days :D
gear of war 2 is the one with the most history, it's the most bastard
I want to recommend watching Halo Legends: The babysitter. The writing is really good and the story is great!
Loved these games
Best storyline in games I've ever played personally in my opinion.
I think you’d really enjoy some story videos on gears, it’s a very emotional brotherly love story
I know I’m SUPER late to this cuz of college, but I wanted you to react to these for a while! You should TOTALLY play through the games!
Hi, some games have campaigns that can be played cooperative, some others do not, but most have a multiplayer mode where you fight each other.
