I used to cook my turkey in a brown paper grocery bag. Now I have an infrared fryer. I put tony chateres Cajun butter injectable in it. Put Cajun seasoning on outside and put it in the fryer. 3 hours and it's done. It's fried on the outside but no oil.
Yummy. A nice big turkey! Turkey dinner, hash, hot sandwiches, soup, casseroles …. Cheapest our turkey was on sale for prior to Canadian Thanksgiving was 1.67 a pound. I always buy a couple because I like turkey any time of the year. Good groceries, Dale. Have a blessed day!
That’s great price for a big turkey, I roast my turkey in a roasting bag. Nothing better than late turkey sandwich with chips while watching movies . That cabbage almost looks like lettuce to me. I love a good cabbage roll
Don’t know if y’all do stuffing or dressing but some diabetic bread is low or no carbs I saw Sara Lee Delightful bread is really reasonable and you could dry a loaf to make it. Stuffing/dressing is easy to make!
Dale, I lost 100 pounds doing Keto a few years ago. I ate meat and low carb vegetables, and stayed away from processed foods,sugar, bread & potatoes. Eggs and cheese are good for you they have protein, I ate alot of eggs and all the meat I wanted. Cabbage is really good for you its helps with in inflammation, its packed with good nutrients , keeps your heart healthy, lowers blood pressure, lowers cholesterol, gives you soluble fiber, and its cheap. If you read the backs of all your packages it has the carbohydrate count. When I ate pork rinds which are basically zero carbs I dipped them in plain sour cream that i doctored up with spices(garlic and onion. You can eat sour cream on keto, just not ice cream LOL. I just got my turkey yesterday for .33 per pound at Meijers. I'm in southern Indiana. I could have paid .25 cents a pound but you had to belong to some discount card or something. I don't normally shop there but I got an almost 13 pound turkey for $6 and change. That's plenty for us because I also make a ham. I don't know about you all but I'm super excited for Thanksgiving. I don't think it gets enough love being between Halloween and Christmas. Thanks for posting.

No "discount card" just have a Meijer account and click on the DC's they offer. Just typing in one's phone number on the account at the checkout screen would have enabled one to get that additional discount. That 33 cents/lb is awesome price also! If I'm not mistaken it was a limit of one at 33 cents. via the Meijer account.
Do one cabbage as soup in it hot pot and no more than 20 minutes. Jimmy Dean sausage, any canned tomatoes and kidney beans with carrots . Just try it comfort food. My grandmother that I grew up with loved pork rhines. 19 degrees this morning in NW, NJ. and 43 for high, brutal.
I did groceries today, thought I did rather well about half way through the supermarket except for the meat. Then I'm at the checkout wow it got higher and higher (the total) and I started to feel abit overwhelmed, should have taken my handbrake (husband) when shopping or a calculator it seeks up so fast, these days💐😊💐
I just spent $150.00 on not very much, and got a free turkey at Safeway. It is a 24 pounder so I will probably freeze portions and make casseroles and stuff through the winter. Thanksgiving and Christmas will be here before you know it. Get yourself a new wheel or a new wagon! My son got me one of those metal grocery carts and they are easy to roll around. I still have my son's little red/rusty "Radio flyer" wagon and I still use it, those little wagons are indestructible. I mostly use it around the yard and I use the grocery cart for other things like groceries and such. It folds up, so easy to take to farmers market too. I can't wait to see some recipes and cookings going on. It always gives me great joy to see a man comfortable in the kitchen. Men are not afraid to experiment or play with their food and in my opinion, have come up with some pretty delicious foods.

You can make a lot of great soup with that turkey 🦃 carcass! And you'll be happy you did it too. Want a recipe.....take the whole carcass and put into a large soup pot, add water to cover and two-three boullion cubes.....skin and all....bring to boil and lower to simmer. Take all bones out, stick pot in freezer till fat on top hardens...scoop off with spoon into coffee can or baggy! Then do as you wish with broth and chicken pieces.😊
Save your carcass . If your turkeyed out put it in a plastic bag with scraps any scraps of meat put in freezer and have the most delicious soup on a cold day. I stew bird with carrot, celery, bay leaf and onion. Freeze any gravy you may have add to broth after cleaning bones and straining. Then you choose rice, pasta, beans or just vegies. Your pot your the boss 😊 Sounds like a lot of steps but once in pot cover, simmer and relax a few hours. My kitty loves the turkey. Happy weekend to you and Stewie.

Dale that extra head of cabbage will last a month,or more in your fridge...And when you order stick butter they have a 2 pack, so it might be a little cheaper, and you can get a 36 pack of eggs (2 18ct.packs shrink-wrapped together) their usually a little cheaper... Hi Bonnie I stay at the Orleans Hotel when in Vegas , I don't like the Strip or Freemont Street. Its quiet at the Orleans thats what I like. Samstowne Casino and Southpoint is nice too. I go every June for 5 nights (free rooms). Not crazy about the 4 hour flight across country to get there though. Where do you like to gamble?

Turkey was expensive. Turkeys in my area going for .49/lb or free if you spend $300 to $400 over a 6/8 week period (hard to do as a single, but for a family a piece of cake).

This woman here is jumping all over those turkeys at Meijer and baking then pressure canning them for my GSD(she can't eat dry kibble because of the health consequences of doing so). If U you can't afford a turkey or don't have an oven big enough for a turkey for Thanks Giving then all I know is Australians don't like eating turkey and you buy yourself a a few rotteserie chickens instead......It's like Christmas where people have all sorts of different meals to celebrate the day.
You can eat all the pork rinds you want no carbs! Crush them and use for breading for meat. Get some cauliflower and a potato or two and boil and mash together for mashed potatoes to go with your turkey and make gravy !!
Dale next year look into agencies who give out free turkeys they do them state to state save you money next thanksgiving Try turkey oven bags it keep meats moist and brown easy with any veggies and season plus it saves the cleanings

Turkey was expensive. Turkeys in my area going for .49/lb or free if you spend $300 to $400 over a 6/8 week period (hard to do as a single, but for a family a piece of cake).

.49 cents a pound is expensive??? .49cents/lb is what they are going for here in west-central Indy with no "spend this amount" games to play.. This woman here is jumping all over those turkeys at Meijer and baking then pressure canning them for my GSD(she can't eat dry kibble because of the health consequences of doing so). Last yr they were .79cents/lb.

If U you can't afford a turkey or don't have an oven big enough for a turkey for Thanks Giving then all I know is Australians don't like eating turkey and you buy yourself a a few rotteserie chickens instead......It's like Christmas where people have all sorts of different meals to celebrate the day.

You can eat all the pork rinds you want no carbs! Crush them and use for breading for meat. Get some cauliflower and a potato or two and boil and mash together for mashed potatoes to go with your turkey and make gravy !!

Dale next year look into agencies who give out free turkeys they do them state to state save you money next thanksgiving
Try turkey oven bags it keep meats moist and brown easy with any veggies and season plus it saves the cleanings
