She just didn't want a snake in the house my mom said the same thing when I asked she let me have a lizard but when I mentioned wanting a snake she made up so many excuses 😂😂😂

That's how I got a blue tongue skink. I wanted a snake. Husband didn't want a snake. I Googled "snake with legs" and scrolled through lizards that look snakey.

Agreed. So glad I was able to visit a breeder and see how his animals live. They were each treated "like pets" with big, beautiful enclosures and only the babies were kept in racks since they weren't going to stay long.

Amazing video I have been studying their care before adopting a skink ! This video helped me a lot. I went to a reptile expo and asked the breeder if they are comparable to bearded dragons & they bashed beardies and said skinks are better, (me being a beardie owner I was insulted lmao) they said skinks are docile, I said so are my dragons😂 waiting for a skink to be up for adopting would rather adopt than buy since I rescue reptiles, but you guys are awesome!

@@robertkavanaugh1899 no I haven't I got a crested gecko instead, since I don't own a house yet to have another huge enclosure. My beardies are in 75 gallons and that takes up half my living room 🤣
Any tips on taming them down. Mine is still rather hissy and tenses up when being handled.
Just gotta handle them frequently and create positive interactions with them. Try giving them a treat that they like when you interact with them

And I'm close to getting my own Northern BTS (lol I feel a bit weird saying that). But since I live in the US (TX) there aren't that many small BTSs around.
But I am currently on the look/hunt and hopefully, I should be getting a young Northern BTS.

I enjoy your videos. I wonder what size tubs you are using for your adult blue tongue skinks? I have some big aquariums I use to for my boas. I have a 120 and other big aquariums do you feel they would be too big for a adult blue tongue?
75G are great! 120G would be amazing for a adult!! They will use that space! You can’t put a baby in it until it’s almost full grown.

I actually hate the rack set up... it’s basically the bare minimum...and if you really cared about your pets you would wanna give it the best way of life...giving them such a small amount of space and one hide is just not right in my opinion...it would basically be me in my room with just my bed and a water bowl🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️

@Goodbye snake discovery racks are not even close to this lol for one she owns snakes and not blue tongue skinks and those racks she puts her snakes in are huge bins for the size of the snake being plenty of room. They have multiple hides, water, fake plants, sticks/logs and substrate. Not to mention she does bioactive setups a lot too. They are literal enclosures with more in them and not at all like these.

They need more space. I have one in a forty gallon breeder-sized tank and it's not big enough. These animals are too active and intelligent to live in a dark box. The experience of keeping them is far more rewarding when they have space to roam, and you can see them engaging in somewhat more natural behaviors.
Great info but those racks look so depressing. Barely any space or stimulation and you can see so many in the background wanting to get out 😭I hope they aren't kept like that for long.

I have at least three (of what I think may be a species of this type) wild reptiles(lizards) that live wild in my back yard and I think they’re a type of skink but they’re a little bit smaller mass wise and change color (usually bright colors like purple & green, blue) and a little bit more slimmer and longer body. They’re at least a foot long (not including their tail). Would you know if that’s a type of skink, I’ve looked all over the identification sites and can’t find out, there used to be Cuban Anoles too so I know that’s not it. Help I’m in 🦎 crisis lol. They’re very friendly and run through my patio at least once a day and can be extremely fast.

No dog food. Never dog food. It can be really really bad for them as dog food is not made for reptiles. It's missing a shit ton of nutrients they need.
you can give it dog food as long the dog food is grain free and high quality. Like ZIGNATURE. NOT FISH INGREDIENTS THOUGH. AND YES SOFT FOOD LIKE A PASTE. Also cannot feed it dog food every day. I would say once every 2-3 days
I liked the video and I know you guys know what you're doing, obviously! And you do a great job! :) only thing is, pedigree is in no way acceptable, even for dogs! It's honetsly a horrible and very low quality food, the facts are in the ingredients and the company that makes it. Petfooled on Netflix is a great documentary.

I have a question? So alot of BTS owners say to not house them together? But I have been to a couple of expos and some of the BTS breeders house the baby's together and I've seen one house adults together? Is that bad?

Being breeders allows you to NOT put them in bigger enclosures? Why do you say that would be cool for pet BTS but for breeding purposes they shall live their whole life in a stupid Rack with ONE hide and no light?

Cesar dog food is pretty good. My IJ eats it up like nothing else. She won't eat anything as quickly as that.

Whenever I Feed Her Veg Or Bugs She Eats A Tiny Bit And Then Runs Off And Ignores The Food I Try To Give Her After So The Bugs Always Die Before She Eats Them All
On The Offchance I Do Get Her Out To Play She Just Runs Into A Dark Corner Or Under My Desk (Which Is Up Against The Wall) And Stays There Until I Put Her Back

Quick question. One of my Cresties has floppy tail syndrome, the tail is at a 90 degree angle when she hangs upside down. All my other Cresties are fine, plump and healthy. Should I make her drop her tail?
No, Floppy tail doesn't have any negative effects on their health. Try adding more foliage and branches so they don't sleep upside down

Aga Ant From everything I read/watched it is not required. That being said if you can I would definitely get them a low % uvb light. But if you can’t before you get your baby you should be fine. Just make sure you have all the supplements you need.

Why is it that you guys do dog food as babies as well? I've been seeing a lot of people say do cat food when their young because it has the higher protein. And transition to dog food as they get older. What's your thought process with why that's not essential?
