Thank you Red for a really nice explanation of the 1-6-2-5 turnaround. I am too ashamed to say how long I have gone without understanding that one simple little thing. You just made me a better guitarist.
I swear I was just watching a Johnny B Goode video and thinking I should get around to '66, lo and behold I check my subscriptions update and there you are. It must be a sign. I'll get right to work on this. Thanks for posting. I dig all of you stuff.
Your are smarter than me, but I think I can hear some jazz flavor in your lesson, a little more than blues, given I see heavy usage of jazz chords. A very informative lesson.. Thank you for your time.
From what I remember in the video, I think he was talking from the G chord. From what I know of music theory..from a modal approach to the G scale, the 1, 6, 2, 5 root notes in that scale are G, E,A,D..and that is what the bass player would play..while the guitar does that G chord chromatic walk down from the D# fret...It's kinda what the swing guys did..normally the 6,2 are minor chords but in this case they're all dominant chords to get that jazz swing sound... now someone may come along and say all this correctly but this is what I've figured out... :)
Red! Love all the tutorials. However, I have to say something this time about your T-Shirt. Do you remember where you were during the OJ Simpson slow motion police chase? You guessed it - I was sitting with a bunch of buddies in the bar at Miller's Marina. I love Boca Grande. How strange to see it on you shirt. Thanks for everything your doing!
salsageordie what ever Key you are in...in this case G..G is the one chord.A is 2 B is 3..C is 4 ..D is 5..etc. so 1,4,5,are the chords in a 3 chord song.... Know these numbers and you can transpose any Key...
This is a real great ol' tune .
Would never have learned it but for a great player/ teacher as you .
Thanks again Red .
You ROCK Red! Very thorough and easy going.
Another gem. Your relaxed and cool. You make it easy and fun ....thank you ...
Great advice and very well presented. A nice combination of some extended chord forms worked into this jazzy blues! Thank you!

Awesome stuff! 👏🏼
Great lesson man! Thank you.
Thank you Red It is good to tell
Some of those licks you're using remind me of some songs from Joe Satriani. Truly shows that many many other genres use blues techniques.
Great lesson!
WOW RED VERY CARING LESSEN. YOUR GOOD BROTHER THANK YOU
I love the advice to not let your bass player see what you're playing on the turnaround!!

Cool Dude. I love your demeanour.

Gee, this is a 10 year old vid and you’re probably dead from the blues by now, but if your not, Thanks. I got some good ideas to use from this.
