    Flashpoint have announced the very much anticipated R2 Pro / Godox XPro-C, TTL and HSS enabled transmitter unit for Canon DSLR’s, and they are available now for pre-order from Adorama for $69.00.
    With Nikon, Sony, Olympus/Panasonic, and Fuji versions to also roll out over the remainder of 2017.
    With a large clear dot matrix LCD screen displaying all 5 groups at simultaneously, and individual dedicated groups buttons, the Pro transmitter provides a huge improvement over the previous R2 / X1 transmitter’s user interface.
    Very likely the biggest improvement for users to the compatible Flashpoint & Godox 2.4GHz flash system to date.
    SIGNIFICANT NEW FEATURES INCLUDE -
    Large Dot Matrix LCD Screen Displaying 5 Groups
    5 Individual Dedicated Group Buttons
    Display Zoom - Displays One Group Larger with More Details
    TCM Function - TTL - CONVERT - MANUAL
    Flash Head Zoom Control Interface - by Group
    Modelling Light Control - by Group (Currently On /Off Only)
    Global Adjustment of Group Power Levels (ALL Button)
    Large Graphic Menu System with Multiple Custom Functions
    The Flashpoint R2 Pro C wireless flash trigger is the dedicated light master for the R2 Family of Flash. The absolute command center for Canon EOS cameras to control Flashpoint R2 wireless system devices with a brilliant backlit LCD display on a sleek hotshoe footprint. The on-camera transmitter gives photographers power to direct the entire R2 Family: Zoom and Streaklight speedlights, Lithium battery powered eVOLV strobes and XPLOR monolights, and AC Rapid studio monolights. Boasting sparkling innovations that make the art of photography easier than ever at the touch of a button, with advantages like TCM - TTL fusion to Manual settings, selective transmission of values to conserve energy, extended multi-Group triggering, exceptionally stable signal broadcast, and direct Group access. TCM overcomes the exposure fluctuations that may occur in TTL Mode shooting by saving the successful exposure value to Manual setting for repeat capture accuracy. Even the remote flash coverage of Zoom speedlights can be tweaked right from the R2 Pro C. Now, R2 Canon photographers can enjoy unparalleled flexibility and control over their multiflash strobist setups, right from their DSLR. More than all this, the R2 Pro C provides Second Curtain Sync, HSS, high speed synchronization, and remote modeling light status. It can even sync with Canon original speedlites under the control of a Flashpoint R2-C receiver.
    The R2 Pro C is the natural choice for heading up the Family.
    Flashpoint Godox X Pro Features
    The absolute R2 Family remote transmitter light master for Canon EOS cameras
    Handles multiple R2 receiver flashes in up to 16 Groups

    Not sure it was mentioned but for those who worry about accidentally changing settings you can hold the MODE button for 2 sec. and it will lock all settings. To unlock hold the MODE button again.

    Your videos covering the Godox lighting system are the reason why I've invested in them. And have to say it is easily one of the best investments in my photography I've ever made.
    Keep it up.

    I think the "ID" part is used to distinguish yourself from other photographers using the same trigger.

    • @adriank9234
      @adriank9234 3 года назад

      exactly, if you have another photographer using same set up as yours but not with you, just set an ID (and for your 2nd shooter) and when you fire, the other dude's flash won't and the other guys apart from yourself and your 2nd/3rd shooters (if you have them) your flashes won't fire unless you actually trigger them. Chances though of that happening, especially at a wedding so remote as I don't bother.

    Thanks for the video, Rob. Just a small correction regarding the SHOOT menu:
    Single person icon is for sending the power levels only when you actually set them,
    Multiple persons icon is for sending the power levels before each shot you take,
    and the APP mode is for making the trigger just a dumb trigger, since the power levels are set via the app.

    ID mode is common in canon, you must put the same ID number in the trigger and flashes in order to shoot, that way you wont trigger any one`s flashes, I use to use 005 in all my canon flashes cuz it was my lucky number

  • @robhallphoto
    @robhallphoto  7 лет назад +9

    As many have stated in comments : The ID function is most likely an additional layer for the flash to have a specific line of communication to equipment, so that two users could coexist on a single channel. This will likely be added to their other products through firmware.
    Additionally - I got the TCM function backwards, it is far more useful. You can use the TCM function after any TTL shot. This means you can shoot multiple times, as soon as you are satisfied with the result, you can hit the TCM function, and it will then convert your TTL to manual. So you don't have to pre-emptively choose TCM before your first photo!

      Hi, thanks for all the great info on everything Godox. I do have a problem with the TCM function, and several people have mentioned it, where it does not convert the light power accurately at all, but grossly underexposes compared to TTL. Any ideas as to why this happens and what I could be doing wrong? Many thanks!

    Just find your channel and watched this video, I didn’t read all the comments but might be helpful if I add something about the ID on the menu, it’s a subchannel to make sure nobody around you using godox shots your flashes.

    Hello!
    Been observing that he Godox AD 600B (Firmware version 2.4) with Fuji X1T F communicates perfectly on Manual mode/HSS but strangely does not communicate in TTL mode. Meaning the manual tweaking (+- 0.3/0.7 s) on the transmitter does not change the reading on the flash. Is this normal? The transmitter is updated to the latest version 3. and the flash is on ver. 2.4. If I read right, the FECs for TTL are independent values and can be controlled either from the camera/trigger or the flash itself. A change to either two simultaneously would add up as a sum of the adjustments and not stand as individual tweaks. For example, if I change +1 on the trigger and it accentuates to another +1 on the flash through wireless the total would add up to 2 stops. I could be wrong. Kindly explain .Also, does the TCM take care of this issue to an extent with the new X PRO series trigger? Thanks

      I am having a similar problem with my Cannon 5D Mark III. It was working before, but not now, and I can't figure out what setting I changed. I can control the exposure for Manual, but it stopped working for TTL for some reason. I've checked the channel and group. But when I change the setting on the ProX trigger, it doesn't change on the flash. I can change the mode from the trigger, but not the exposure. It will test fire from the trigger as well, it just won't change the exposure setting when it's set to TTL. Anyone know how to get it to work again?

    The ID function exists on all of their units I believe, XT-1 has it in func 11. Basically it's a Wireless ID, which if you set it will only trigger units using the same ID. You can consider it similar to a password in combination with the Channel. I doubt it's highly secure, I'm sure if you sniff the 2.4gHz channel you can figure out what someone is using. But it adds a little complexity and reduces chances you will accidentally trigger some other persons Godox units, and vice versa.
    I personally set a Wireless ID and Channel that are not the default, and should never run into issues theoretically, even though the chance was slim on defaults.

    Hi Rob,
    I‘m a newcomer to flash us, but bought the Godox ad400 + the trigger.
    I love the clarity accuracy, just to mention that the micro video showing the LCD screen barely shows what you are doing there (I follow you through iphone12)
    I otherwise use the Sony version/@7 3a.
    My questions:
    - I am close to beginner but a) 35 years of photography b) fast learner : where/how can I easily jump into lighting/preferably with Godox content?
    I did not understand the thing with
    - I didn‘t understand your comment on continuous AF mode and its impact. I tested my new equimpent today, and that could be an explanation for my (many) struggles to get fully operational.
    Otherwise, great thing: you are clear, interesting, transparent. I join the group.
    Cheers,
    Chris

    Thanks so much for the Vid, very appreciated. Got a question for ya:
    I’m using a 200ADPro & XproC. I’m often off camera, remotely hand holding 200ADPro & remote triggering the camera -using a remote-, however I’ve found the XproC will override any setting I have on the 200ADPro. Is there anyway to stop this so the Xpro will simply trigger the flash & not override it’s settings? (Currently the only workaround I’ve found is to put the Xpro in APP mode (and not use the app) - but this seems a bit backwards? Is there a better or proper way to do this?)
    Thanks heaps.

    I have the Flashpoint branded version and I have one question. Is there a trick to actually turn groups "OFF"? I have multiple strobes and have each on its own channel. So if I want to turn my kicker light off and I select channel B and turn is "OFF" it still fires so I still have to go over and power down that strobe. I have a group of speedlights on group D that I sometimes use and this same thing. The "OFF" setting does not seem to actually turn any of the channels off when selected to do so. Am I doing something wrong because it seems pretty straight forward?

    I dont like the size on this one, the huge display and how it sticks out. Especially for people who only use one portable light its a little ridiculous to upgrade (so that you can more comfortably fiddle with light groups you dont have). I am using Godox to save up on size and weight, if I wanted quality and comfort, I would use my Profoto and DSLR...

    Just to make sure I understand this correctly: the TCM function can be used only on ONE channel and only if that channel contains ONE, and only one, model of flash... right? If so, that drops TCM down from "must-buy improvement" to "oh, well, better than nothing, I guess"...
    PS -- People who have trouble with their foreheads interfering with the X1 should stop wearing their hats backward while using it! ;-P

    • @robhallphoto

      +J.L. Williams yes it is highly restricted. I did explain how it functions backwards (which makes it a tiny bit more useful). TCM can be activated after any shot, but still in the limitations you said. Pretty useless to me but single light portrait users may benefit from it.

    Great Vid dude...QQ? are you saying that this Godox xpro will not work with Nikon....Especially the D850

    • @robhallphoto
      @robhallphoto  4 года назад

      No. The XPro-C (Canon specific model) will not fully work with Nikon. The XPro-N will work fully with Nikon.

    Hi Robert. Good videos ! Could you help clarify. I have Nikon cameras and flashguns, a couple of SB800 and couple of SB910 which I used professionally. Also SU800 commander. (PW etc) I recently bought a Fuji XT-2 and watched your video about the Godox so I bought a 685F and X1. Amazing features and price. I am considering a AD200 (bare bulb would help with light spread?) Do I assume the X1 will trigger AD200 from Fuji but do I need to buy a Nikon trigger for my Nikon camera/s. It doesn't seem easy to understand compatibility issue. Is there a general ruling? i.e. every camera need to have a dedicated transmitter. Every Godox product will would from any of there triggers? Will my 685F only work from Fuji buy yet AD200 will would from anything? If I bough a Nikon Xpro tigger would 685F work ???
    All a bit confusing.

      If you want full functionality, your master (the trigger or speedlight on camera, transmitting to other flashes) has to match the camera. All flashes off camera will convert TTL/HSS signals no matter the brand, provided the firmware is up to date.

    okay will this work with my lights,Canon versions Godox 860ii x 2, Flashpoint Xplor 600? Flashpoint Enolv 200 x2 ??? And will it do TTL and HSS?

    How to activate Canon 580 ex flash and Good AD200 together?. with Xpro I can activate AD200, but canon flash doesn't react, why?

    • @Smoothblue90
      @Smoothblue90 6 лет назад

      If you get a Godox X1R-C receiver for Canon, and put the Canon flash into the receiver, you can control a Canon flash with the Godox trigger. And you can mix and match flashes from different brands.

    I just saw that there is a firmware update: GODOX XPRO & FLASHPOINT R2 PRO - Add 0.1 Stop Adjustments. Do you know is this only for the XPRO or for all Godox flashes?

    • @robhallphoto
      @robhallphoto  6 лет назад

      I anticipate this feature will be reserved for the Pro series only. So I’d imagine added to the AD400 Pro too. But, this is completely speculation so don’t quote me.

    When using key and filling light, can I sincronize them both under the same chanel and group or do I need to set one of the strobes as an slave? I am using flashpoint 400PRO (godox). Thanks for your amazing review.

    • @robhallphoto
      @robhallphoto  3 года назад

      If you want independent control of two lights, one as a key, one as a fill, then you put the key as group A, and fill light as group B. Everything should be on the same channel.

    Hi Robert, can you safely use a different brand controller on other cameras? Example : trigger for Olympus can be used on Fuji cameras? Thanks for all your help.

    • @robhallphoto
      @robhallphoto  3 года назад

      Safely, yes. Fully-featured, no. Power control is radio, and firing is done through the center pin so both of those things work. But things like TTL, HSS, Sleep/wake function, AF assist beam are all communicated through the camera-specific pins. So none of that will function if the trigger doesn’t match the camera brand.

    is it possible to set group ratios . i.e setting key light (A Group)and fill light(B Group) ratio. essentially I want to set the power of main key light (A Group) to 1/1 and lock it down set the ratio to 1:2. i want the fill light(B Group) to be automatically be set to 1/2. And if I update the Key light to 1/4 then I want fill light power to be 1/8

    • @robhallphoto
      @robhallphoto  5 лет назад

      You can't do it where it's represented as ratios but you can setup your own ratio (with the numbers you suggested) and just use the all function to modify all the lights equivalently which is the same thing.

    I've got the Good XPro-c and the X1R-C and trying to get it to trigger an AD360II-N. The flash goes of when I set it to the same channel and group but cannot control it remotely with the XPro-C. Is this ever going to work or am I just wasting my time?

    • @Smoothblue90
      @Smoothblue90 6 лет назад

      You don't need the X1R. You just need the Godox Xpro for your camera, communicating to the Godox flash directly. The only time you need the X1R is when you want to control a non Godox flash, and then you get the receiver to match the brand of the third-party Flash foot mount.

    Hello Robert, have been having issues on how to connect my Nikon D7500 with Godox XproC trigger so can i do high speed sync but its not working, please kindly tell me on how i can resolve this... thank you

    • @robhallphoto
      @robhallphoto  4 года назад

      Hit sync on trigger so HSS is active. Turn Auto FP on in camera. That's it.

  • @ernestmccreight6188
    @ernestmccreight6188 5 лет назад

    I'm trying to bring up the sync setting which shows on one of the bottom four boxes. At 3.06 in the video you set the three channels to the setting you want, at which time only the middle two boxes are active. When you press SET the four boxes are active with one showing the sync setting. My questions is how do you bring this sync box active and is it necessary when using HSS with the Godox AD 200, which is set to HSS. Thank you.

    • @robhallphoto
      @robhallphoto  5 лет назад

      When you select a group, the middle two buttons switch to up and down to provide another way to navigate groups. When you hit set, they go to their default functions. When you want HSS, don't do anything to the AD200, just hit the sync button and you will see the "H" symbol pop up on top which indicates HSS is now active, and as long as you go above your max sync speed external flashes will automatically use HSS.

    @RobertHallPhotography, why didn't you actually show the assist beam? What is the cable that goes into the port on the side?

    • @robhallphoto
      @robhallphoto  5 лет назад

      Because a Nikon camera can't trigger the AF assist beam on a Canon shoe since the pins don't align or communicate the same way.
      Ports are for sync to camera or flash (3.5mm) and firmware (USB)

    So I found the settings on how to use the TTL with the Xpro and TT685, I could hear the flash zooming when I adjust the zoom on the lens but if I don't adjust the numbers my self like from -3.0 to +3.0 it overexposes so Om guessing it's not metering thru the camera? or am I doing something wrong? Please advise thanks oh Merry Christmas.

    • @robhallphoto
      @robhallphoto  6 лет назад

      most common reason for connection failure is people are either testing them too close and they won't fire (make sure to have them a couple feet apart), or they have the flash in optical slave mode instead of radio slave mode.

    Hey! I have a super important question, so I just bought the godox ad400 pro, I started using it but every time I turn on the remote I can’t see my real time settings on my eos r.. so I have to turn off the remote to be able to expose my ambient light and then turn on the flash.. what can I do to see my real time settings with the remote on? Thanks!

    • @robhallphoto
      @robhallphoto  5 лет назад

      Not sure how it works on EOS R but that's common of mirrorless to disable "settings effect preview" in favor of showing you a balanced screen. On Sony we use a feature called "shot result preview" to toggle the ambient light settings preview on, even if flash is active.
