I was in the 3rd row right in front of Mindy... she was wonderful ... and a great version of this song .... I will always remember her.. loved her violin in `A Slow song from this concert. RIP Mindy.
Mindy Jostyn singing the girl's part in "It's Different for Girls" in duet with Joe Jackson was a good idea. She has a powerful, high voice which fits this song well. I just read poor Mindy Jostyn died of cancer in 2005. What a terrible shame! She was a very talented woman, and a beautiful one, too. Rest easy, dear Mindy.
I very much agree on Mindy's talent and beauty - it seems to be a common response! I do think though that she brings a bit more vulnerability in her delivery than power, which really suits the song. Make sure you watch her in the other songs in this concert - such talent as she swaps instruments around!
@@JJfanz Indeed, I will. I knew people who actually attended this particular Joe Jackson concert in 1991, it having been held in my home town. As for Mindy Jostyn's voice, I would agree that there is an element of vulnerability in her delivery. Perhaps full rather powerful would have been a better description of her voice on my part.
@@redfalcon8866 on one of the songs from this show there's a comment from the on-stage cameraman from this gig - what a job to have! I saw the Melbourne show, which was very similar.
I have been looking for this version for so long. Thank you uploader. This is by far the best version of this song. Mindy Jostyns interpretation makes you feel every word of the lyrics, better than Joe Jackson ever could on his own and brings back many memories
cheers for that. she's in the other videos from this concert of course, but all in backing roles (vox / violin / guitar / harmonica ). I saw the Melbourne version of this concert and she really added spark to the show.
I just saw a video with Mindy playing with Andreas Vollenweider in Santiago in 1995. I lost count of how many instruments she played. What a talent. I went to look for more of her and found that she'd tragically passed. Anyway, I thought I'd post a link to the video that brought me here as it's not one that'll ever come up if you look for her and it was a mesmerising performance that any fan of awesome musicianship should love. RIP Mindy ruclips.net/video/YRz13y9I6EY/видео.html
@@martinjefferies666 Thanks Martin. I know Andreas, but haven't seen that video before, will enjoy watching that! Mindy played with the Hooters and also has (five iirc) her own albums too. She also played with many others, including Carly Simon, which is how I first came across her and thought "Wow, this lady is brilliant!". She was married to Jacob Brackman, who was a lyricist who collaborated a lot with Carly Simon. Andreas has also collaborated with Carly Simon too, so it's a small world. I'll share the link on Mindy's site as I'm sure others would like to see it. I saw her perform once, but sadly never got the chance to meet her.
@@pronicd Thanks for that Russell. Andreas has been a musical mainstay for me for 40 years, he plays with some amazing musicians who are usually multi instrumentalists so I'm always interested to see who he's collaborating with. This particular Andreas concert is - too me - one of his best and Mindy really stood out as a huge talent . . . . and then she picked up a harmonica! amazing. She's a huge loss. Thanks again for the info
Wow, best version I've heard. Would love to hear Joe sing it with Kate Bush, she's close to Mindy's range but still has enough to go beyond and make it her own, great song no matter what or who sings it.
@mrkinnc - It's the same arrangement, but Joy's voice is more powerful, which I think actually detracts from it a little.I've got it on CD but not VHS video. Let me hasten to add that Joy is very good.
@twisteddsister - I figure that that there should be some reason to live in hope of a DVD of this tour! I'll check my copy of the video - if I can fix the problem I will, but it might take a while.

...now that i hear it: a male/female duet version of this great song from the get go totally makes sense in the first place...simply stunning!
Just shows how talented and underrated Joe Jackson is. A beautiful live version. Thank you for uploading it
Mindy with the Hooters in 1993. One of the best Gigs i've ever seen. Only the best die(too)young.
LOVE this version. thank you for uploading
I miss you Mindy, Rest In Peace xx.
This concert needs to be an album.
Oh my word. What a great approach to this little masterpiece.
I have never heard this version before, its excellent this girls voice is beautiful :D
Poor Mindy. Rest In Peace.
I can’t stop watching this ❤️
The late and much-missed Mindy. :(

Totally agree.. i was mesmerized by her at this concert .. from right in front of her. 3rd row.. So sad to hear the news ...
Gorgeous. Gorgeous, gorgeous.

It’s a pleasure, and I agree.
Same here , I heard it so many times more than 20’years ago as I had it in a cassette recorded from the radio. Thanks for the upload🥲🥲🥲
I think she added a spark whenever and wherever she performed.
Brilliant musician!
Pretty......Pretty freaking awesome.!!!! That lovely voice passed away in 2005
❤💙
Now that's *F E E L I N G*

a true classic!

I was the song done this in Adelaide in the same tout. Heavy darts
I really love this duet. JJ was my all time favorite but I hadn''t heard this version.
Fantastic to find a music video with Mindy in it. Not too many around. Love her music.

Artists reinvent: he's an artist.
I love this song - hadn't heard it sung as a duet before, makes more sense, really, when you consider the lyrics
+racketman2u It plays like a performance from a really fine Broadway musical.
One of my JJ favs❣
Simply amazing, such a great interpretation of this wonderful song.
Como si fuera poco los instrumentos que ejecutó, también cantó y muy bién, descansa en paz Mindy.
It's different for girls...I'm a cynic, yet I believe in love!

Stunning.
Outstanding!
Rip
Cool version
I would rather the original joe is great by himself
Keep comparing Mindy's voice to Kate's., Like how Mindy's voice turns
Decent. I prefer his duet with Joy Askew on this song.
She did sound SO Kate, my first thought.
