I work in maternal child health at a hospital and a retained placenta is quite common! Typically it will be on your history moving forward with any other deliveries so they can keep an eye knowing that you have a history of that occurring in prior pregnancies. I’m glad you were able to get in before any complications ❤

Eli, the exact same thing happened to me with my second birth, I had a retained placenta. All this time I always associated it with medical negligence since I had not known anyone who went through the same thing and occurs in approximately 0.5% to 1% of births, it is quite dangerous. So happy you are ok now. Besos to all from Madrid, Spain. Love always ❤

I'm so sorry to hear that you had to go through the awful trauma of having some placenta left inside your utreas with constant bleeding & then having a operation to remove it all. Glad your feeling better though🙏With my 3rd baby the placenta would not come out even though the midwives were giving me injections it just wasn't working plus been sick at the time was absolutely horrendous🥺Eventually had to be rushed down to theatre leaving my daughter calmly looking around in her crib while I was whisked away. It was such a tremendous traumatic time for me as afterwards I couldn't go to the toilet as I had a epidural during my birth & needed to have a catheter inserted in me for 24hrs. After which I was able to go home afterwards. It's not always such a straight forward birth for us all & having to go through some after effects from birth can be even more harder. 3 adults now 2 boys 24 22 & 19 year old daughter who are so beautiful in so many ways but unfortunately for me had to have a full Hysterectomy in 2006 due to endometriosis & enlarged utreus. Hoping this would be the end I unfortunately now im needing to have major surgery on my bladder as I now have a overactive bladder which means I cannot hold much urine & constantly wetting myself😟various treatments which haven't worked & now having this big operation next year to rebuild a new bigger bladder. This in a whole has been mentally & physically draining for me as well as challenging at times. But next year hopefully I will be a new woman. Love & blessings always 🙏✨️💜💜
