@@godslayer6926 It's best to just look up other peoples profiles for overclocking but stock it's already very powerful, the card runs hotter than most because the fans don't automatically turn on till like 50-60c. It never gets above 70 on auto. I'd recommend setting up a fan curve at the very least just so you can idle at like 60.
The amount of time and research put into this video is spectacular. Thank you very much for all the info! The only thing I would add to make it better is heat dissipation and or temps for the vram. Now that we know many cards have issues with thermal throttling on vram etc. My xc3 ultra gaming spikes over 100*C consistently while gaming. I have new thermal pads waiting just need to find time to swap them.
Thank you! For sure VRAM temps is important as we now know on the 3080 and 3090. But unfortunately there's not many reviewers that test VRAM temperature readings, so barely any info on that.
@@OTechnology can I ask you about LHR - does it even matter if the card with LHR or with not? I dont want to mine anything and need GC only for PC gaming.
I went with the first card I could get my hands on, which ended up being a ventus oc. I can see why it makes the c-tier here compared to other cards, but for me it works great, and according to hwinfo64 I am getting around 2030 MHz clock speed while gaming. And I didn't need to upgrade my PSU, so for me this was an added bonus over the other cards with higher power limit / overclocking potential. I did, however, decide to make some adjustments to the fan curve, to where it now runs closer to 63 degrees instead of 71 at stock settings, but with my particular setup the slightly extra fan noise is barely noticeable.
Even the best cards that can pump up to 500w are only getting MAYBE 5% higher FPS than a stock 3080 ventus. So while those cards are “better” it’s not worth the power and heat draw. Most people who buy those cards end up just undervolting them anyways.
I have an EVGA FTW3 ULTRA RTX 3080. It's a fantastic card, I have had zero complaints with it. When using the 450watt BIOS with heavy gaming for 4+ hours the card is able to maintain a 2050mhz Core Clock with the GDDR6X VRAM at a little over 10000mhz. Even with a 420-450watt power draw for 4-5 hours I have never seen the card go above 73c. It is a perfect card to go with a 5900X.
Could only find an ichill x4 in my area and I was genuinely worried about the performance, build quality etc but honestly, its been amazing. Very well cooled and moderately quiet card. The cooler design looks nice but feels very well built, rigid and dense. In an a/c room it sits at 65-68 degrees with almost 7 gigs of vram in use while I'm playing RDR2. Would recommend.

I really appreciate the effort you put into these videos. The info regarding the 3070 and 3080 models is extremely helpful to compare and identify the offers that are actually worth the money. THANK YOU!
The MSI Ventus 3x OC hits over 1950 MHz. This is from benchmarks by various youtubers and websites. Thus, a basic power to clock comparison may not hold true for some or all of the cards.
I really appreciate that you include the MSI SUPRIM X in the analysis, as it seems to be a completely ignored and underrated GPU in other benchmarks. But it seems it's one of the best cards indeed, with the difference that, at this moment, it is relatively cheaper than other overhyped cards (ejem... Rog Strix...).
I’ll echo the other comments in saying wow. I didn’t understand half the technical jargon but definitely understood how you rated them because the message was clear and concise. Well done in putting this together. I’ll definitely use this data to choose my card. 👍
Thankfully I was able to grab a Zotac 3080 trinity in Nov 2020. I had to undervolt it to get it at comfortable temps without its fan cranking up at a cost of about 2% perf? Really wanted the gigabyte gaming oc model but in my country, its super hard even during that point of time to get one. No regrets actually, great warranty duration and coverage, so why not! All the best to the rest in getting your hands on one in your gaming rig (not for mining hopefully) but it's your cash.
Wait what? I haven’t seen that. That’s trippy...maybe they reduced the heatsink mass somewhere else and had to compensate there to not have bad performance. That's pretty neato.

I just placed an order for Asus TUF RTX 3080 Gaming OC, having consulted various reviews, and now coming to this video (happy to see the assessment at 29:15). Retailer suggested mid-April timeframe. So I wait.
Is the heavy weighting on power limit justified? A card can have an unrealistically high power limit but without a good cooler it won't outperform a low power limit, well cooled card. This is because of the boost algorithm. Love the detailed video though, incredibly useful. Thank you.
Exactly as you said. I put the Colorful Vulcan and Advanced OC cards lower because of their less than stellar coolers despite the powerful VRM and power limits. Thanks for the feedback though!
Not like we have much of a choice to choose the models we want but I'm quite happy with the ROG Strix LC 6800 XT I picked up last month. According to Hardware Unboxed's review which I'd seen prior to finding the card the components and vrm's are quite good. Still I'd love to see a video like this for RDNA 2 cards. Would be nice if possible.
Could these results be indicative of 3080 ti cards also? I would assume everything would be almost identical for 3080 vs 3080 ti on a manufacturer to manufacturer basis.

Thank you I really appreciate it. Always try to be helpful with my videos!
I've seen the 3070 video and it helped with my purchase. Happy to see you're doing the same for the 3080. Thank you for amazing content!
Glad to help!
@@OTechnology same here. Got a Palit GameRock 3070 and it's great.
Only downside is that is is quite noisy when the fans ramp up.
If you could add the db their fans make it would be perfect to make the best choice.
This Saturday is a holy day!!
I will wait my post at my door (3080 Tuf OC), with a bottle of Moët!! LoL
Got mine last week, Thursday was a great day for me!
How to take over the review market: Graphs on graphs on graphs 🤩
While I appreciate the deep breakdowns of other channels you convey a lot of the important info concisely. Well done as always.
I appreciate that!
@@OTechnology yuh r a hero 😎👍
Bro you just became my new favorite channel. i´m always searching for good benchmarks and no on on the whole internet is doing as such a great job as you do. Like literally no one. You´re exactly what I need in my life. Finally someone can actually tell me the differences of those cards :D
I've got the 3080 Vision OC in my build, and damn the entire white theming, mixed with some rgb is astonishing. I would say it's the best for my scenario, but if I had decided to go with a black theme (Like everybody else), I would have gone with the AORUS EXTREME for sure.
Anyway man. Very good video! I enjoyed the entirety of it.
Keep it up!
EVGA>everything
Finally I can buy the GIgabyte Vision OC, thanks to your research!
Glad I could help!
thanks for the exhaustive work you've done ! in about a year, when all those card will be (I hope) available, I'll re-view it to remind me witch are the best for me. 👍👍
and here am I... shifted from a 3080 MSI Z trio to an Evga FTW3
just ordered the Vision OC, decent performance with a really clean look, I love it.
the problem is OUT OF STOCKS!
I got the RTX 3080 Gigabyte Vision OC and honestly it’s really good! It looks good as well!
wanna sell??
Awesome! I like the looks too!
This was really well done, hopefully we can get an update on some newer cards like Zotac's AMP Extreme Holo or ASUS Rog Strix LC
even the gaming z trio
Great video! I was looking for this breakdown relating to max power draw forever!
I got the gigabyte vision oc...looks amazing
Same, it's a beaut
Nice I got __________ it looks pretty good
honestly, not really surprising that you picked the TUF OC. i was very impressed with its cooling performance. good airflow provided and paired with a low noise level makes this card a truthful winner
Yea its a good balance of everything really.
@@OTechnology that's why I choose TUF Gaming OC. It's good allround GPU like u said!
@@OTechnology evga has better results in games than TUF OC?
@@Wolf89b evga has better results in games than TUF OC?
I really appreciate the effort you put into these videos. The info regarding the 3070 and 3080 models is extremely helpful to compare and identify the offers that are actually worth the money. THANK YOU!
Thanks for making these! Extraordinarily useful and appreciated.
You're very welcome!
Waiting on my 3080 ftw ultra to arrive this week
It looks nice but im confused as to why they took away the red trimming on the side but not the red on the top of the backplate. Bugged me
@@chaos8519 yeh but u can run 450 W THATS INSANE !
where the fuck did u get it?
Same
@@hagemaru96 i know a pc shop owner, im not sure when he gets his next batch of cards since he just sold his entire shipment that he just got.
The MSI Ventus 3x OC hits over 1950 MHz. This is from benchmarks by various youtubers and websites. Thus, a basic power to clock comparison may not hold true for some or all of the cards.
I managed to get the Gigabyte OC Vision one off Amazon this morning
Nice! Great looking card
Nice! I envy you haha
Thank you for compiling all these information into one. Really a time saver.
The best in-depth comparison out there! Thank you so much for your efforts!
Glad it was helpful!
Msi rtx 3080 Suprim X the king of all
Ahhaha Mad?
king of overprice
Lol no
I’ll echo the other comments in saying wow. I didn’t understand half the technical jargon but definitely understood how you rated them because the message was clear and concise. Well done in putting this together. I’ll definitely use this data to choose my card. 👍
Thank You - this helps me out
You're welcome! Happy to help!
Just dropping by to mention that MSI Ventus 3X somehow uses copper base plate instead of cheaper direct heat pipe contact on Gaming X
Wait what? I haven’t seen that. That’s trippy...maybe they reduced the heatsink mass somewhere else and had to compensate there to not have bad performance. That's pretty neato.
@@OTechnology ventus is awesome card brother unloke trio. Trust me.. hv sedn the disassemble. it loooks very neat and slick card
Bought the Gigabyte Xtreme Waterforce AIO. I'm in love with it. Tempts always stay below 50 degrees and is extremely quiet!
thanks, this review will be useful in a year (at least) when I will be able to get one of those unicorns ;)
Haha yea I get you these cards are impossible to get.
So do you think that I should get a Zotac 3080 holo 10GB
Which RTX 3080 to buy:
The one you can actually buy.
@O!Technology Thanks for the awesome review! Definitely helped me know which card I'm waiting for. Hopefully it will not be TOO long before we can buy one.
Glad it was helpful!
Damn bro you put so much time and effort into this video and it turned out amazing! Thank you so much for this, you’ve really helped me and a lot of other people.
Thank you too! I appreciate the words.
I rarely like and subscribe but for the amount of work you have done and amount of help you provided, it’s the very least I can do.
Can you do another one for the 3090?
Thanks for this! Very helpful in narrowing down exactly what to get for my next PC build!
Still feels like I won the stock lottery with my Strix OC 3080 lol
I have a EVGA FTW Ultra on the way, super excited and happy to see it so high on this list
Will this tier list translate exactly to the 3080ti's as well?
You're so in depth with your reviews, and the data is presented clearly. Thanks for this.
This video needs more views damn
Amazing amount of research, thanks for doing all of this for us.
Any time! Thank you!
On the 3080ti which GPU you recommend in the best out of the box category? For someone who doesnt plan on Overclocking or doing fancy cooling custom systems
We need 3080 ti version of this asap tbh.
You should do this with the 6800/6900xt. Great video.
That's the plan!
Thank you for your work..I just yesterday managed after waiting a full year to pick up the Palit RTX 3080 Gaming Pro not that I had any choice as I was not willing to pay the outrageous prices for some of the other card...Very happy with it!
I was not trying to OC i was just trying to get whatever card that was in stock and ended up getting the evga ftw3 ultra hybrid card and now i feel like im losing out if i dont OC haha. it performs well and it never goes above 55 celsius. and hardly any noise but then again I have not overclocked at all haha.
Nice!! Ftw3's are one of the best cards out there!
@@1003drae Yup. Strix and FTW3 ultra are the best. Water cooled versions even better. You really have nothing to fear by overclocking the hybrids.
You definitely need to OC it lol. At least max the power limit on EVGA prescision. Will boost the speeds quite significantly.
I just placed an order for Asus TUF RTX 3080 Gaming OC, having consulted various reviews, and now coming to this video (happy to see the assessment at 29:15). Retailer suggested mid-April timeframe. So I wait.
Congrats man!
I'll buy any card on the list that becomes available
Is the heavy weighting on power limit justified? A card can have an unrealistically high power limit but without a good cooler it won't outperform a low power limit, well cooled card. This is because of the boost algorithm. Love the detailed video though, incredibly useful. Thank you.
Exactly as you said. I put the Colorful Vulcan and Advanced OC cards lower because of their less than stellar coolers despite the powerful VRM and power limits. Thanks for the feedback though!
I love these video's could you also make them for the new AMD cards?
Not like we have much of a choice to choose the models we want but I'm quite happy with the ROG Strix LC 6800 XT I picked up last month. According to Hardware Unboxed's review which I'd seen prior to finding the card the components and vrm's are quite good.
Still I'd love to see a video like this for RDNA 2 cards. Would be nice if possible.
Like the other guy said not as many AMD cards but I am making one soon!
A Tremendous Effort! Well Done!
Could these results be indicative of 3080 ti cards also? I would assume everything would be almost identical for 3080 vs 3080 ti on a manufacturer to manufacturer basis.
Yes
This has been my purchase guide FOR YEARS! I wonder what kind of material this guy could provide with all these cards in hands.
Which 3080 to buy: Literally any one that's even available
My strix comes in tomorrow! very excited to mess with it, should be a nice bump from my strix 980ti. I have had good luck with my other asus cards in the past and my 980ti just benched in the top 1% of 980ti's a few days ago so fingers crossed I win the silicon lottery again.
Bump? Lol. More like a catapult into another dimension
@@tmorelli1982 Yeah its quite an upgrade, somehow my cpu came available locally the same day the card arrived. Got a 5900x and the combo blows my old pc clean into orbit.
