I really like the 170s. They remind me somewhat of the LINT railcars on mainland Europe. Apart from the 170 being much faster and almost certainly mor comfortable and just overall a class higher, of course.
they dont look like that now they got a nice livery theyre route is extended up to aberdeen and the rest of scotland which is fantastic :) thumbs up to scotrail
More space and less claustrophobic. Even if you aren't restricted to a wheelchair the "accessible toilet" is much easier to use for all. I am autistic and also suffer from claustrophobia and ibs and unfortunately have had to use the class 170 on board facilities on many an occasion and I can assure you that the "disabled toilet" is far preferable, so it is fair for the narrator to mention it as a usp one or two times lol 😄.
@@cameronirvine37703 I strongly disagree having tried both many times. Give me a Class 170 over a clapped out Jimmy Savile HST on the HML any day!!!. One of the best trains in the ScotRail fleet is the 170. The only real advantage the HST has is capacity. If double 170's (6 car trains) where possible then there would be no contest 💗💗💗.
20 years and they still look good!!
I would be nice if Scotrail repainted a turbo back into this livery in 2019 for 20 years of them
221120 I love that idea 😊🙂
221120 shame a lot of them are being put out of ScotRail into other companies.
@@nevej9556 Some went to EMR most are at Northern Trains Limited
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's going to just be 401 - 415 that stay

I worked the 170s in the National Express era.

"A division of DaimlerChrysler"; that explains the MTU engines, then.

Now on the Fife Circular
It's a great vid
100 mile an hour??? They struggle last 65
They have a pedantically slow acceleration rate of 0.5 m/s2 (1.1 mph/s) maximum.

And now the replacement with Scottish ironing boards!
That is A national express train
