- Russia conducted massive military drills on the disputed Kuril islands, amid the ongoing Ukraine war. The exercise involves nearly 3,500 troops, Su-35, Mi-8 helicopters, Bastion-P coastal defence system, T-72B3 tanks & UAVs among others. The move is seen as a show of strength by Putin’s Russia against Japan. The move also comes after Moscow announced the suspension of territorial peace talks with Japan.

For anyone who doesn’t know, there is still no peace agreement between Russia and Japan after the war in the 1940s, so the territories have been disputed for more than 60 years now.

I am glad that happened, I know the Japanese army during those years were very bad and committed lots of crime, but we can't live in the past. The forces they have are for defence only according to their constitution. However what they have iv very modern, works, is well maintained and above all else effective. With their air force and navy supporting, Russia would get absolutely hammered before they even got going. Their sub killing capability is excellent also, would not be a good day for Russia if it did attack.
