Ian Rush arrives at Juventus - 1987

This weekend's Champions League final between Juventus and Real Madrid carries much significance for Wales. As well as the match taking place in Cardiff, both of these great clubs also have a history with Welsh football stars. In 1997, Welsh great, John Charles was voted Juventus' greatest ever foreign player, having scored 108 goals in 155 games for the Italian side between 1957-1962. Real Madrid was twice managed by John Toshack during the late 80s and 90s, and the Spanish club now boasts one of the most expensive footballers in the world in Gareth Bale.
In 1986, Juventus signed another famous Welsh striker, Ian Rush. This video shows the welcome Rush received from Juventus supporters, as he arrived for his first training session ahead of the 1987-88 season.
