From early days till the present Ghorepani, originally Ghode-Horse and Pani as water, being located on top of both the west and east sides with a long climb, where merchants caravan horses and mules laden with goods. Ghorepani had been the best watering place for thirsty animals. Stands on the ancient Trans Himalayan Salt Trade Route of Nepal & Tibet. The trail follows beyond Ghorepani towards Upper Mustang all the way to the border of both Nepal and Tibet / China.
