    Great video , there is something awe inspiring walking the banks of the Tay , Tweed and Spey , Salmon are such a special fish . Just knowing they are in the river gives you goose bumps .Well done on releasing your salmon , hopefully it went on to spawn .
    Only salmon I've ever caught was when someone chucked me a can of John West .

    The "Dace"was the name for a dyed sprat fished with two hooks and a lead.Dace dont live in Scottish Rivers.
    These days its its big toby...often nowadays with a single hook.Kynochs and big rapalas and similar are also very popular ..usually from the boat.

    the Tay is great river and very clean, it comes from the Highlands and is fed by several Lades...watch out for the undertow, the Tay has several points of huge undertow that seem to be calm, they look like lakes sat upon the river itself, you'd need a local to point them out, you get dragged by them...square-fucked, they won't send anyone to retrieve you...however, you can land many trout, more than you can eat, literally more than you can eat..the Salmon...don't work too hard, I'd say, let things turn in time, after spawn the males will basically throw themselves at you..try catching a pike, big old bastards, real hard to catch, very clever "The knife in the water"..good eating but rare to land, hugely strong for their size, made of muscle, you land one of those, you are either eating well or getting paid a pretty-penny

    • @japanesefishingadventures
      @japanesefishingadventures  Год назад

      Love this knowledge and thank you for the general advice on the Tay! I did see a lot of undertones like that and did think you had to be careful! Bet at night it’s quite fun going after the sea trout haha! Thank you again sir and thank you for watching!

      @@japanesefishingadventures I wouldn't know anything about sea-fishing...i only know the bits and places I know...looks like a hugely involved undertaking to me....where my family comes from, Stornaway..well, ask a ferryman from that area, they'll tell you there's only one way to berth...you have to go in backwards, turn the ship around and let the natural eddies pull you in to port, underneath those waters, and not that deep...there's these really sharp rocks, like blades, you need someone that knows those waters
