Tape was an expensive commodity. There would need to be a minimum of four machines rollling, 1 set for for back-up recording should something happen to the primary decks. So recordings were far and few between. I'd love to have quality recordings of Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and The Rolling Stones during the Mick Taylor years...as well as the Brian Jones years. I'm impressed with forward-thinking bands such as The Allman Brothers, The Grateful Dead, as well as Bruce Springsteen who seemed to have just bitten the bullet and recorded everything back in the day.

As it has always be. I attended my first DP concert in March 73 (in Brussels - Belgium) and a lot more later. During the same 73, (in December) I also witnessed the Mark III concert in the same hall. So: Mark II and III during the same year!!! I was 14 at that time...
If I had a time machine I’d want to go back and witness the dinosaurs, the first humans, the building of the pyramids, Jesus Christ, and DP Made in Japan with Jon Lord playing silent night holy night at the beginning 😝
This show is known as “Riot Night”. Fans went on a riot because the band didn’t play encore. I don’t know exactly why the band didn’t play encore, but a friend of mine who saw this show told me back then that one of the fans threw fireworks towards the stage during the show and he thinks this incident made the band angry. After realizing the band were not coming back on stage, the fans got angry and started throwing chairs all around the arena floor.
From what I know, this is one of the last concerts with Gillan and Glover, and during this period the musicians don't really feel like working together anymore.

its good....but Blackmore sounds distant.... twiddling around....not happy to be playing with his 'pal' Gillan....having said that - one of the best 73 shows I've heard.... should have played - woman from tokyo/rat bat blue/painted horse/smooth dancer.
