If you liked this conversation then look into his course. I am NOT a sports dog trainer. I am a professional dog trainer and have been doing very well in my business (happy clients and happy dogs) but I knew I could be better. Ivan and his course is exactly what I needed. Mind blowing for me. Besides the importance of play and the how-to-play as part of the course, the concepts (that we all think we are good at) are taught in a way that is clear and practical. Such an eye-opener, even to someone like me (like most trainers) who “thought” I had a decent grasp on many of the concepts - you have no idea! This course was mind blowing for me. The TWC course is definitely worth the time, energy and money. It’s a game changer!

It would take me many years to save up for it, I wouldn’t mind doing that, and I considered it. But, when you’re given vague information on what to expect, no clear layout of the training approach, it seems more like a marketing ploy rather than an actually helpful way for those interested in dog behavior, those who are dog owners and/or trainers. I can barely find anything on his methods at all, and all I’m told is: “this course is great and has all of the answers, but, I’m not going to give you any of the details about it in any way”. Mind you, I’ve been on forums to try and talk with those who went to Ivan’s seminars (which gave conflicting information and told me he wasn’t 100% being truthful in the videos compared to the seminars they all went to), talked to TWC trainers, others who’ve apparently done some form of the program, etc.
It leaves us all out here in my position feeling empty-handed and clueless. If this person thinks a lot of the popular ways of training could be better, there’s rarely anything specific shared about how we could do that, without buying into a program with little information about the specifics involved. This seems like it’s just being part of the problem via complacency, by making it largely unavailable to learn anything.

Truth 🙏🏼 There are potential great trainers who can’t afford this. As if knowledge can be taken to the grave lol. Most renowned trainers don’t seem to get that idea.

Ivan , I have just bought and watched your video ‘chase and catch game’ I have a 12 week old Male Rottweiler puppy. He is very sweet and very aggressive? (I am just a dog owner, this is the first time I have had a puppy prior to him I got adult dogs from the shelter) Anyway I have done extensive research and regardless of accolades or championships, what has sold me on your method of dog training was the video you put out on introducing your
Dogs to a muzzle. The obvious love and respect between you and your dogs was palpable! I want to have that type of relationship with my dog. The chase and catch video outlined your whole philosophy of dog training and I now feel better equipped to try and fix/ grow the relationship with my dog. Thank you so muchI

Ivan is so spot on. I own one of his dogs Sierra Ot Vitosha and play is so important. Ivan is so right Sierra is always looking at me. My son told me yesterday that he has never been around a dog that is so smart. Raw food is the only thing she eats.

I have been following Ivan for a couple of years now and ever since I have changed the way I interact with my GSD (working line), and play is key. We do not do any dog sports but just love being around each other and I can thank Ivan for this strong bond that we have. Thanks Again Ivan for all that you are doing!

I adopted a Malinois back in 2019 that didn't have any desire to play and shut down when I attempted to interact in that manner. He was older (5YO thereabouts) and had lived in a back-yard, isolated from stimulation and people all his life. This podcast would have helped me greatly 3.5 years ago 🤣🤣 it took me about 6 months to figure out how to trigger his playfulness. Today he is a very playful dog around me, loves to do games and obedience, but never plays with my other dogs or interacts with them much. We do everything together, hikes, camping trips, bike rides, etc, but he never interacts with the others and is mostly aggressive towards dogs that are not part of my household. If it wasn't for e-collar, his life would be very limited.

how did you teach him to play I rescued a dutch shepherd shes 3 years old as your was she was left chained most of the time in a yard she has no interest in any kind of play no toys not even treats training has been very sad im just giving her a lot of love and lots of walks, car rides she loves rides so please any help would be great

    • @andreborges2106

@@TheLeadez60it was a slow process. I think the first thing was establishing a bond with him. Food from my hand, lots of food related games (he was found driven). He didn't want balls or byte cushions, but when I introduced a Dog Puller toy, he showed an interest, so I stick to that for a while until he discovered biting was fun for him. When he got good at that, I added something else and from that it escalated to bite toys, obedience, and even bite suit which he now loves. Not an easy process though. Will take time.

I met you at Larry's seminar in Florida a few months back. You said that my pup, Strider, and I should start some protection sport training. We have found a local Schutzhound club and both of us LOVE IT! Thank you so much for the initial push and encouragement.
I want to make sure that I have a good play relationship with my dog. I'll be purchasing those 3 videos you mentioned in this interview. Thanks again!

Fantastic podcast - thanks for making it. I train service dogs and also train IGP. I love Ivan also trained service dogs and brought his own experience to this area. With my new IGP puppy I was constantly asked 'what can she do, what can she do' and every month until about 7 -8 months my reply was 'nothing. We play, we trust each other, enjoy each other's company oh and she has a great recall' I am glad I was somewhat on the right lines, though I think as trainers with our first dogs we always push the tricks early to show off. The we get older, learn and let our puppies enjoy being puppies while still teaching them a lot via play.

I LIKE listening to Ivan explain. It always opens the mind. The story of the non-playing dog choosing the object of a little interest, does that.

So great...!! And wrt to the playing with the stick, think of all the parents out there who bought their toddler an expensive toy and the kid's more into playing with the box it came in 😆. I mean, we have to appreciate whatever spins each little being's wheels, right?! 😍💗
Thanks for being so wonderful Ivan!! I learn tons from you all the time 🙏

Thank you for sharing this podcast. I would love to know which of your game-based training vault videos would be the best one to start with for a pet dog owner new to your training methods. I have struggled to find the right training method for my young (2 years) Boxer girl and I that works for us both and would love to delve deeper into how to play the right way.
