  • Unboxing my first KID doll from Iple House, Esi, in the darkest available skin tone. She seems to be a magnet for dust and there seems to be some scratching at some of her joints, so I guess I'll have to be extra careful. The doll also came with a certificate envelope, a second wig I purchased without bangs, and some extra paperwork I didn't show in the video. I received this doll about 3 and a half months after purchasing her which is close to the same amount of time it took when I purchased my previous Iplehouse FID.

LOVELY!!! You have to be VERY careful because the dark skinned dolls scratch WAY more than the light-skinned ones do---I did some research on this several years ago. It has to do with how the add color to the material they use. I was really Ticked about it, but it has something to do with the manufacturing process and is Sometimes the reason they may try to charge you More for the dark-skinned ones too.

Thanks for the information. That's unfortunate. I noticed there seemed to be some slight scratching at a couple of her joints which I'm not too thrilled about. My other lighter skinned bjd didn't seem to have that issue. I don't plan on handling her too much because of that, just admiring her on the shelf until I want to change her outfit and wig again for some simple photos. I guess I already do that with most of my dolls, but now I know that this one is extra delicate.

@@e.d.t. It's actually just that the marks show up more on dark resin than it does on light resin! Also when they're new they can have a little mold release/dust/etc on the inside still which you can wipe off with a damp cloth. If you suede her joints (you can use a thin layer of hot glue or even actual suede) it will protect her joints from rubbing together as much and will also reduce how much that happens. Plus she'll hold her poses a bit better, too, since it adds "grip" at the joints!

@@caporotte Thanks for the information and advice. I only have a couple of these dolls, and I'm still trying to learn the best ways to care for and maintain them.
