John Lennon's tonal quality of his voice on this song is beyond reality and the way Paul does the harmony is other worldly. The song itself is perfectly laid out with breaks and tasty lead guitar fills and a twelve string chiming over Ringo's slightly off kilter drums One of their best! Another coool song of early days is "What Your Doing" or "Every Little Thing" they show the creativeness of the bands arrangements without all of the overdubs and orchestral later years.
@@patticrichton1135 Shouldn't that be 'and FOR NO ONE?' Ok. Both songs are among the best tracks on Beatles For Sale. In fact, I am tempted to put What You're Doing as the best track on the album and I'm a confirmed Lennon-head. Most bands and singers would be happy just to have two songs like that in their entire back-catalogue.
You can always say this the best ever Beatles until you hear the next song. An amazing eclectic and creative band, the likes of which you will never see again.
I LOVE that you mentioned the drumming. This is a dear example of what makes Ringo a pioneer. He could have easily played this as a 4/4 rhythm, but he played this incredible pattern on the snare and Tom Tom’s and then goes to 4/4 for the chorus of “don’t know why she’s riding so high.” Great observation. And yes, the Beatles harmonies were ALWAYS killer. Love your channel.

Not to take anything away from Ringo, but remember that, according to John, "the way Ringo played the drums [on TTR] was Paul's contribution." Presumably Ringo did initially play a square rhythm, but Paul suggested he follow the pattern of George's Rickenbacker riff instead. Good call!
There never was and never will be a group like this again. Ringo's drum part was totally unique. Harmonies superb and that small guitar solo by George.
Pedants corner: the bridge-end and coda guitar licks were Paul, playing his Epiphone Casino; and according to John, "the way Ringo played the drums was Paul's contribution" also.
@@strathman7501I've often heard that it was Paul's suggestion, the drum part, but I read an interview with George saying that Ringo's drum pattern was based on the riff that George was playing, and that's how he came up with it.

True fact, this was the # 1 single in the US on the day I was born. Both of my older brothers were Beatles fanatics, I've been listening to them literally my entire life. They are THE reason I wanted to be a musician from as long as I can remember, and why I became one.

I get goosebumps every time I hear this song. To me, it’s the prototypical Beatles song. It’s not only a great pop song, with a typically clever lyrical hook, but it shows signs of their incredible ability to take pop and rock and elevate it creatively. You’ve got some killer harmonies, an unusual and powerful drum part, a great arrangement, and even a completely new bridge for the outro. What’s not to love?
At 5:40 you're catching a glimpse of what it was like growing up with the Beatles and living in the midst of Beatlemania. I'm 67 and bought every record as they were released. The 60s with the Beatles was pure magic. There was nothing like it.
It's great to see young people with the same excitement we had 50+ years ago. To see their excitement as they feel the magic, when you can't wipe the smile off of your face. It will never be duplicated for me and quite possibly for these kids either.
Finally....we're getting into some early Beatles. Good job guys, Now you are on your way to hearing some of the most beautiful sweetest love songs and melodies EVER written! ""And I Love Her", "If I Fell", "Girl", "Michelle", "Here There and Everywhere", "This Boy", "P.S. I Love You"...
One of the first songs I knew by the Beatles. John once stated that this was one of the heaviest sounds at that time. And one of Ringo's best drumming apart from Rain and Come Together. And Amber you got that totally right: this is proof that Ringo was one of the best drummers ever as he didn't show up but added exactly what the song needed to turn a good song to a perfect one!
💙The Beatles - Always a great choice!!! More songs to enjoy: -Paperback Writer -Got to Get You into My Life -Across the Universe -Helter Skelter -Thanks!!!
Plus, "Drive My Car", "And I Love Her", "Because", "If I Fell", "Here, There, and Everywhere", "Eight Days A Week", "Paperback Writer", "Fool on the Hill", "Nowhere Man", "I'm Only Sleeping", "This Boy", "Girl", "I Will" "She's Leaving Home", "The Two of Us", "The Long and Winding Road", "Get Back", "Got To Get You Into My Life", " For the Benefit of Mr. Kite", "With A Little Help from My Friends", to name a few!
Amber, you mentioned how diverse the Beatles’ music is. Give “Tomorrow Never Knows” a listen. Or “A Day in the Life” which at the end will annoy your neighbor’s dog.
"Blackbird," "Norwegian Wood," "Baby You Can Drive My Car," "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds," ( don't know if you did that yet,) "If I Fell in Love With You," " Michelle." And on and on!
They just put a smile on your face! They were and are the greatest. I lived through Beatlemania and it is indescribable! Young people today have no clue as to how much they took over the world.
Love y'alls reaction! I guess you've done about 11 Beatles' songs, which means 200 more to go. If you just chose songs they wrote, you've got another 175 more to go. The amount you've been blown away so far, is only just begun!
Part of Ringo's style came from being a left banded drummer playing on a right handed kit. Saw a interview where he said that when doing a roll order a fill he had to drop his shoulder to get his arm out of the way. Thus he always had a tendency to be under the beat creating those awesome groves. With Ringo the old adage less is more was who he is.
The Beatles will go down in history as the greatest Rock & Roll band ever, and Paul McCartney & Ringo Starr are "still" performing today, after 60 years! WOW!
To really appreciate the Beatles, you have to understand how many of the other groups that you have reacted to were inspired to pick up a guitar for the first time after seeing the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show. So many of the great groups credit the Beatles for their getting into music.

Jay and Amber, I am a 70 year old man and it took me days, weeks, months and many years of listening to this older music to fully comprehend and understand it. You guys do three songs a day, wow, it must create it’s own level of stress but in a good way. I would go sensory overload if I had to delve into three a day! I hope this makes sense? Love you guys.
Both of you will love these songs by the Beatles, Golden Slumber, Carry that Weight, and The End. They’re all short songs but all 3 together are really 1 song. Ringo does an amazing job on the drums. “You must listen to all 3 together”.
My own personal favorite of mid-period Beatles is "No Reply". It's not played as much, but the storyline, the harmonies, and the desperation in John's voice make it really special. I always speculated that it was really about his mother, who went off and had another family with another man.
It was never released as a single. It's what you'd call an album cut. Many of the Beatles "album cuts" are better than many bands' singles. "No Reply" is definitely a favorite.
I was a young American teenager, living in Scotland in the early '60s. I got to witness them take the UK by storm. We moved home before they came to the US and I was able to witness them take the US by storm and share, my albums with my friends. I went through some pretty rough times, but I could always count on their music to keep me going.
The Beatles live on their own planet and no one else is worthy to be there besides them. Even Justin Hayward of the Moody Blues admitted that and he is a world class musician/songwriter.
No matter what you play from the Beatles you can't go wrong. Their harmonies are always sublime. They are the greatest band of all time. This has made my day guys, cheers, Paul.😁👍📀❤️

This song was progressive in its day. It went beyond 3 minutes and was heavy sounding for the time. The harmony is brilliant, and Ringo pushed the beat forward. Great pick! ✌️❤️
It’s hard to comprehend at this later date just how enormous The Beatles were at the time and just how revolutionary their sounds were. This song was just SO different at the time both harmonically and in its different time stamps. Good pick up by Amber this track belongs to Ringo, his patterns create the whole sound of the track. I saw Ringo a few weeks back and he is amazing at any age. ✌️
On the Beatles' as personalities, George Martin said he signed them mainly on their personal charisma. He wasn't impressed with their early songs, but said that on first meeting them they were energizing, uplifting, and funny. He figured they could succeed on that alone.
Great song from early days ."Hey Bull Dog "for heavy bass . She's Leaving Home "soft story telling. "Tomorrow Never Knows "from Revolver for Amber. thank you
Been pushing TNK for well over a year now. Can you imagine their reaction to that one! I've always wished I was a little older when that came out to experience the freak out on it. What a revolutionary song it was.
Paul looked so baby face young because he was so young. He turned 23 in June of 1965 and this was filmed shortly before or after his birthday. My guess would be shortly after his birthday. This song was from their "Help"album released on August 6, 1965. The song was a 100% John written song. This song was released as a single on April 9, 1965 and "Yes It Is" was the A-side. So this song was released two months before Paul's 23rd birthday. They were just kids yet. Ringo's drumming was great on this song Amber but not what stands out to me on this record. For me, it's John's incredible lead vocals and Paul's outstanding harmony bits. These two always harmonized so naturally together and let's not forget George. These three cats could really harmonize together. Now if you want to hear Ringo's greatest drumming performance ever on a Beatles record is on John's song "Rain" which was the B-side on their 1966 single "Paperback Writer" (a Paul song) John always felt that "Rain" should have been the A-side and I 1000% agree with him. I rank "Rain" in my top ten all time favorite Beatles songs. This was the first song recorded by them shortly after John and George started taking LSD. This is the song that ushered in their psychedelic period between 1966-67. This song has so many important first time ever recording techniques that they had to invent while they were recording it. First song in history ever recorded with backwards music and lyrics in the outro at the end of the song. John said he claimed it for The Beatles as the first ever. Do the song and we will get into all the firsts on this song, it's incredible. If you get to it make sure it's the 2022 remix of the song, it will blow you away, sounds incredible. One last great little John tidbit about "Ticket To Ride" is from his last big interview with Playboy magazine and released just a week before his death is he was asked what Paul's contribution to the song was and he stated that "Paul's contribution was that he told Ringo how to play the drums" Sounds like John being smart ass funny but he was being dead ass serious. Paul McCartney is one hell of a drummer and probably did instruct Ringo on how they wanted the drums played. Once John was asked if he thought Ringo was the greatest drummer in the world and he responded with "Hell, he's not even the greatest drummer in The Beatles" hilarious but dead ass serious answer. He was implying without saying that Paul was the greatest drummer in The Beatles. So John and so John smart ass hilarious. Really hope too see you guys react to "Rain" you would love it and get to hear Ringo absolutely kill the drums. Peace ❤❤

I was 11 years old when the Beatles came to the US and instantly became a "Beatlemaniac". Spent all my money on Beatles magazines, bubble gum cards, posters and of course, records. They not only were a great band but you could tell they were having fun and it showed. They never expected the fame they achieved. Thanks for a trip down Memory Lane.
I was thinking of suggesting this one the other day. When you have two or more Beatles singing In harmony, that's where the magic begins! I think We Can Work it Out would be a nice song to react to from here. They are definitely the GOAT, there's no exaggeration there!
You would think after almost 43 year, I’d be over the way John died. But I think their sound brings it all back. I was so young when they came out, but at age four I sat with my older sisters😢 watching them on Ed Sullivan. I even got a John Lennon figure for my fifth birthday. I was still a child of ten when they broke up. In the nine year they changed music in every way. Even their own sound changed as they matured. The wives didn’t break them up. Being grown men, each with their own opinions, dreams and musical aspirations separated them. Then in 1980, I wasn’t a child. It wept when John died. It still makes me sad today. My favorite album is Rubber Soul. Please try any songs from that album. I still have my original copy. It’s stunning.
Nowhere Man, Paperback writer, When I’m 64 and Yesterday are some of my favorites from early Beatles. We were just talking about the song “When I’m 64” and how there was media coverage when Paul turned 64. It’s so hard to believe Paul is now 81 and Ringo is 82. They both still look good and are going strong.
It’s no surprise that the Carpenters loved the Beatles and covered this as their first Billboard charting song in 1969. Their first album was renamed Ticket to Ride.
The song was released in April 1965. 58 years ago. Yet its sound is better than today's records released. That says a lot about the Beatles and the people recording and producing their material.
It's amazing how some people just want to under-rate Ringo's drumming because he doesn't do endless Buddy RIch style Speed Of Light journeys around the whole drum kit. I've always said Ringo just has an uncanny knack for finding the drum arrangement that is perfect for a tune. So often he appears to do it instantaneously on just about the first hearing of a track. You are so right to point out how he moderates his drumming to fit the pace and the mood of the song or even lead them with his drumming. And such a laid back and lovely guy too.
Just Like Beethoven, hundreds of years later, people will be able to recognize the music of the Beatles. It has that level of influence on human history..
When you have a band that broke up in 1969 and still manages to put out new content that goes to the top of the charts and outsells today’s current acts, you have to acknowledge their greatness. Their music is timeless. Next on your list must be I Feel Fine, Day Tripper or We Can Work It Out. Great reaction guys.
@@willdwyer6782 That’s the “official” date, but they had broken up long before that. They just went through the motions of working on one final record.
Agree that was when the beatles officially broke up but their last meeting and no new work together after this was August 20, 1969, so for me if a band no longer gigs together..it's ended!!
Things started going downhill for the Beatles in August of 1967. When they lost Brian Epstein and had to get more involved in the business end of making music, they started fighting over money and didn't have anybody to mediate the disagreements.
In 2018 I toured Johns childhood home and we were standing in the vestibule and the echo was fantastic. the Tour guide said John and Paul would sing there and harmonize...he then asked if anyone wanted to sing...I sang Ticket to Ride and everyone joined it. One of my favorite songs. ❤

We supported all the liverpoolien groups like thhw Breatles, Jerry and the pacemakers Billy J Kramer. And then there was Cilla Black.
I was always in trouble as a kid and spent time in several juvenile institutions in Illinois. I escaped once and met a girl, named Debbie Haynes. After I got caught, we corresponded through the mail and she wrote in a letter that this song reminded her of me. What a fond, but heartbreaking, memory for me. We never saw each other again. I will never forget the time we went to the local cafe, which had a jukebox inside. She said "Watch everybody get pissed-off" and she played Janis Joplin's "Mercedes Benz". She was fun! Thanks for the memory!

The Beatles affected popular culture like no other band, plus their sunny dispositions and the fact that they didn't take themselves too seriously just added to their allure. But I'm also grateful to see that you two really "get it", and will pass your love for their music down to your kids. :) I know that you've already reacted to most of their heavy-hitters, so I'll suggest two number one songs that came out around the time of Ticket to Ride--"Eight Days a Week" and "I Feel Fine." @@genabourassa7962 I think they were all fans of Perkins, given that they have all, either with the Beatles or on their own, covered his songs. But of course George was the biggest fan of all of them.

Ringo definitely steals the show on this song. Whenever someone says he's not a good drummer, I point to this song - Just listen to the drums here!!!
Absolutely the best. From "Love Me Do" to "I Am the Walrus" in 5 years. Astounding growth, no to mention the cultural impact. I am very grateful to have lived through it.
You would love their song.....Nowhere Man........ it's an amazing song
This song is a great example of what made the Beatles great. The harmonies, the lyrics, and just a little edge.

Day tripper, and Paperback writer are 2 of my favorite Beatles songs!
Gotta love the reversal - the drummer stands and everyone else sits…
Great noticing
John Lennon's tonal quality of his voice on this song is beyond reality and the way Paul does the harmony is other worldly. The song itself is perfectly laid out with breaks and tasty lead guitar fills and a twelve string chiming over Ringo's slightly off kilter drums One of their best! Another coool song of early days is "What Your Doing" or "Every Little Thing" they show the creativeness of the bands arrangements without all of the overdubs and orchestral later years.
I agree and NO ONE has reacted to "WHAT YOU'RE DOING" OR "EVERY LITTLE THING" i WISH someone WOULD!!
@@patticrichton1135 Shouldn't that be 'and FOR NO ONE?'
Ok. Both songs are among the best tracks on Beatles For Sale. In fact, I am tempted to put What You're Doing as the best track on the album and I'm a confirmed Lennon-head. Most bands and singers would be happy just to have two songs like that in their entire back-catalogue.
I like the almost marching band beat from Ringo in _What You're Doing._ It reminds me of Fleetwood Mac's _Tusk_ for that reason.

Good call!
@@strathman7501 yes, but Paul couldn’t ever play it the way Ringo did.

@@strathman7501 Paul McCartney had a lot of skills!!
@@strathman7501I've often heard that it was Paul's suggestion, the drum part, but I read an interview with George saying that Ringo's drum pattern was based on the riff that George was playing, and that's how he came up with it.

Listen to the Carpenters version of this song
True fact, this was the # 1 single in the US on the day I was born. Both of my older brothers were Beatles fanatics, I've been listening to them literally my entire life. They are THE reason I wanted to be a musician from as long as I can remember, and why I became one.
McCartney kills it in the song Oh Darling.......he goes nuts even more than his single solo Maybe I'm amazed. You would go nuts over Oh Darling
Agree 100% !
DOUBLY AGREE!! I've wanted to request this too. Paul can sing scream with passion too.
I’ve got a feeling
Absolutely!!!
Just my opinion but "Oh Darling" is the one song where Paui really overdoes it and he just sounds too desperate to outdo "Birthday" or "Helter Skelter". Fo me it's not nice to listen to. I prefer his rockers from early Wings days like "Hi Hi Hi" and "Helen Wheels"
Was never a big Beatles fan, always the Stones guy in the crowd. But over the years and with youtube's huge catalog of all things Beatles, I've really come around. Great band.
Kind of the reverse for me I was never a big Stones fan. RUclips definitely changed my mind
The Stones are, in my opinion, the best regular, non-Beatle band of all time. Then Zep. But The Beatles are just on a different astral plane, even in their short 7 year period.

“But listen to the colour of your dream”
I get goosebumps every time I hear this song. To me, it’s the prototypical Beatles song. It’s not only a great pop song, with a typically clever lyrical hook, but it shows signs of their incredible ability to take pop and rock and elevate it creatively.
You’ve got some killer harmonies, an unusual and powerful drum part, a great arrangement, and even a completely new bridge for the outro. What’s not to love?
One their best harmony performances is “Because” incredible
Because is on a whole different level.
If I Fell…yes!!!! The others are great too but it’s my favourite early years ballad of theirs.
George's guitar riff on And I Love Her was genius and made the song what it is, perfection

One of my favorites of theirs is "If I Fell". Just pure beautiful harmonies.

Also the other side of that 45 was the other gorgeous ballad from A Hard Day's Night, Paul's "And I Love Her."
It's been a fan of the Beatles, especially Sir Paul McCartney. I love this song but I love "While my guitar gently weeps" is probably my favorite
I should have known better thoooo
Beautiful harmonies and poetic lyrics. Lovely song and one of my favs.

"Here Comes the Sun" has been and always will be the quintessential Beatles song for me. Maybe the most beautiful song by

George's version in The Concert for Bangladesh (with Pete Ham from Badfinger) is stellar
The Beatles are in a category all by themselves.
Both of you will love these songs by the Beatles, Golden Slumber, Carry that Weight, and The End. They’re all short songs but all 3 together are really 1 song. Ringo does an amazing job on the drums. “You must listen to all 3 together”.
Actually seven songs together!
My own personal favorite of mid-period Beatles is "No Reply". It's not played as much, but the storyline, the harmonies, and the desperation in John's voice make it really special. I always speculated that it was really about his mother, who went off and had another family with another man.
Great song that doesn't get enough credit. Love it!
It was never released as a single. It's what you'd call an album cut. Many of the Beatles "album cuts" are better than many bands' singles. "No Reply" is definitely a favorite.
"I saw her standing there" is an uptempo classic as well
I was a young American teenager, living in Scotland in the early '60s. I got to witness them take the UK by storm. We moved home before they came to the US and I was able to witness them take the US by storm and share, my albums with my friends. I went through some pretty rough times, but I could always count on their music to keep me going.
that is ONE of the GREAT things about their music, getting you through rough times, they did that for me as well.
Whenever I'm down or having a bad day,I listen to the Beatles and I'm chilled again.
The Beatles live on their own planet and no one else is worthy to be there besides them. Even Justin Hayward of the Moody Blues admitted that and he is a world class musician/songwriter.

If they want to hear a similar drum beat again in another Beatles classic-next should be "Tomorrow Never Knows". Or "Rain".
Always feels great to see young people getting into the Beatles.

Peace ❤❤
The Ringo part "drags back" the track, so unique and adds to the fantastic feel
My favorite harmony by John and Paul was on a song called, “ If I Fell.”
And it shows that John could write a love ballad just as well as Paul could.
Oh yes!! I LOVE that one ❤
‘If I fell’ is beautiful. “This Boy’ is another one on par with that
Also one of the hardest songs to sing. We used to challenge each other to sing this properly as a drinking game.

Great jangling guitars and Ringo's drums are astounding. John and Paul prove here why their harmonies helped propel the song.

John great Lead Vocals and Paul's great Harmonies make it a great song
Melody. Only the Beatles and Mozart ever hit these heights. Why this music will live on forever
What's amazing is that Ringo and Paul are *_STILL_* making music in 2023!!!
My Favorite, too!
One of my favorites too!! Try “Nowhere Man” or “Day Tripper” or “A Day In The Life” if you haven’t!! Thanks as always!
They reacted to A Day in the Life a few months ago but unfortunately, that reaction was deleted 😢
@@deniscastellanos9895 , thanks. They get more Beatles on YT than anyone I know of! I may’ve even seen the reaction, I have a hard time keeping track.
You guys are the greatest! Enjoy watching so much!
The weird and most mind blowing aspect of your Beatles journey is that you’ve only scratched the surface. So many more bangers to go…….
I concur
You can say that again, truly just scratched the surface, SOOOOOO many songs to go yet!!
It’ll take a decade and even then you’re scratch the surface 🤣
And the final, culmination of their talent…Abbey Road. Every song, cover to cover…epic!
One thing they did is write for their voices.
that fadeout though...brilliance...the beatles have the greatest quantity of quality of any band...all in less than 8 years
'Ringo just standing there... it does something for ya!' This is my favourite RSR quote of the year so far.
Gotta love how they HATED miming and was making it obvious and poking fun at it... especially John.
I noticed that too. Also, Ringo’s mime-“drumming” was hilarious, just touching the tips of his sticks down.
Just Like Beethoven, hundreds of years later, people will be able to recognize the music of the Beatles. It has that level of influence on human history..
Completely agree. The Beatles are on that level.
I once told my beloved Dad once back in the late-80's. I looked at me as if I was off my rocker.
They broke up on April 10, 1970.
My three favourite Beatles tracks!
Another Ringo and John Lennon Highlight among Beatles songs with Very Trippy and experimental sound... Cool drum loop that I believe Ringo just plays throughout along to Lennon's 1 Chord Strum... Great Lyrics: Tomorrow Never Knows
For some reason this brings me back to going to the movies and seeing the movie "Help" with my cousins, I was all of 8 years old.
Perhaps it is due to RUclips challenges, but there are so many great songs of the Beatles left for you to sample. The ones that launched them into America...."I Want to Hold Your Hand," "She Loves You," All My Loving," "I Saw Her Standing There." There is "Yesterday," "Let It Be," and "Long and Winding Road." Enjoy the ride!
Love Ringo’s drums here!
As a 75 year old from the north of England this wa one of the main bands of my teenage years in the 1960. We were never into the London groups like the Rolling Stones.

It was truly a privilige to grow up during their heyday, and I'm grateful for that. But I'm also grateful to see that you two really "get it", and will pass your love for their music down to your kids. :) I know that you've already reacted to most of their heavy-hitters, so I'll suggest two number one songs that came out around the time of Ticket to Ride--"Eight Days a Week" and "I Feel Fine." Or, if you'd really like to go wa-a-ay back to the early Beatlemania era, "Please Please Me" (their very first single released in Great Britain), and "I Saw Her Standing There" are some suggestions.
The drums on this song are absolutely perfect. This is where they reached peak Everly in their harmonies.
