Correction: In the video I say the Proud Family was the first Disney Channel show about a Black family, but it was actually The Famous Jett Jackson.

And I know I just commented on the video but I wanted to bring forth this theory I had as to why Disney fans are so entangled in the culture wars; Baby Boomers, Generation Xers and Millennials grew up with Disney content that was intentionally curated to present an unproblematic image of Disney that doesn't dive deep into the company's 100 year history. Hence why many grew up with the animated classics that Walt produced, the Renaissance animated classics, the live-action and animated shows of the 80s and 90s, the live -action films both produced by Walt and the ones released after. Few if at all tackled any serious issues and if they did it was hidden or presented in a manner that "wouldn't upset anyone". It's why ethnic caricatures lasted a long time in that time frame because no one that had mindset of how this was harmful. So now these generations look at the stuff being produced today and when they see the contrast rather than realizing how things have changed and how there is a need for wider voices to be heard, they feel that it's an attack on THEIR childhood and THEIR nostalgia , so they want to attack that and label it as a dangerous things for today's generation.
Granted, many of the inclusive actions taken by Disney and other companies can be seen as disingenuous and not accurate as to what our communities want. But saying that it's an issue to even bring it up and try to tell a story about it is saying that our voices and presence shouldn't be seen, heard or felt, that if we try to do our take on a classic story it's "woke", it's a disaster, and "propaganda". And it all sterns from the idea that in the good old days said ideas would be ignored because we were too ignorant about it all
But now our stories have a wider range of voices, and many companies and studios are realizing that we have to put a spotlight on many communities and their stories because we denied them that opportunity for years. It's breaking the status quo and thus people react like it's a bad thing. Like I mentioned, it's not like the other side have THEIR own set of propaganda pieces to teach kids their lessons and morals. Veggietales on the surface may be a cute cartoon about singing and dancing vegetables, but they were created to share Christian beliefs and stories. That's propaganda right there!
Every story told was always told with the belief of teaching something. The Proud Family wants to tell it's story and while sometimes it ain't perfect to attack it for even trying to do it is dangerous and shows how toxic these culture wars have become in fandoms and society in general

Funny how whenever these people talk about these shows and issues, they ignore the ACTUAL flaws in the narrative, like is the message delivered well enough, how does it work with the story and such. It's ALWAYS the "OMG THIS IS WOKE THIS IS PROPAGANDA" garbage. As Dane from Actual Fandom said in a stream, half of these people haven't even watched one episode of either iteration of the series but are reacting to out of context clips made to get people mad without understanding WHY the show is saying what it wants to say.
IN ADDITION, funny how they see this as being propaganda to groom and brainwash kids, yet they have their own shows, books, videos and such to make sure they grow up to be conservative adults. And I ain't even touching how books have been banned and how schools are being slammed with restrictions as to what they should be teaching. So this is only "bad" when it's about things that affects marginalized people...I see how that is.

Hear me out, Glee is now technically a Disney property, just saying…
I think it would be so incredibly interesting to see a video about Unique, the show’s first trans character. They were definitely a LOT of things that could’ve been handled better with her storylines. But for good majority of people watching the show, that was the first time they were even made aware that Trans people even existed, her first appearance on was in 2013, that’s so crazy to me.
It would also be really interesting to analyze Alex Newell’s journey getting in the show, they started on the reality show “The Glee Project” in which the winner would have a character written for them. But Alex didn’t win the show, two boring straight white guys won. Alex was just a runner-up, which meant that they only got a two episode guest appearance, which introduced Unique.
But because of how popular Unique was on those two episodes, in the next season, she was made a series regular, and those two straight white guys that won the Glee Project, got written out of the show, because they were kinda bad actors.
If you want to check out some iconic Unique performances, I recommend Boogie Shoes, Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend, Love Child, Blow Me(One Last Kiss), If I Were a Boy and I Know Where I’ve Been.

In this whole video, unless I have missed something, the main issue was never address. That issue is the "Slaves Built This Country" video. In that video it displays plenty of misinformation and has a "Give me stuff and special treatment because someone from generations ago in my family tree suffered even though it wasn't me" sort of attitude. It presents falsehoods as fact and that is a dangerous thing and has a very clear slant. My issue was never the LGBTQ+ representation but the slated and false statements. If you want to argue to it is not propaganda you have to address the actual issues that actual reasonable people talk about. Not the off-the-deep-end far right people who say things that are easy to argue against, poor form to only take the easy wins in arguments but ignore the actual issue. I have also heard claims that the writing and general presentation is very mediocre but that is a different issue and not one I can comment on as I haven't watched it and have no interest in doing so. This false information being clearly biased towards a people group can in fact categorize this as propaganda. A good video I watched on this is ruclips.net/video/Fa9_rgwRiH8/видео.html

This reboot is propoganda, I gotta be honest I really dislike how they handled other cultures that werent black, they were often misrepresented or used them as a punchline still such as the chang triplets, the use of the pocahontas costume, some latino jokes, and wierdly using white fragility in the second to last episode. They talked and refrenced an actual book that persuades veiwers to think a certain way, thats basically propoganda.
And it bothered me how they said black people cant be racist when infact there are racist black people, my family and I experienced them when we were at mexico, a black family made fun of us assuming we didnt speak english and were saying how dumb my father looked and such and trying to disrespectfully speak broken spanish to my father as if he was dumb.
This show rubbed my family and I the wrong way and my younger sister just didnt want to see it anymore, and as good as season 1 was, season 2 was very problematic and I just feel like they took it a step too far, and this is coming from a gay minority it wasnt good.

I am not gonna mention everything wrong with it, but for one, slavery in the US actually was kept down because of slavery. Proud family also lives in a state where there were no slaves (only the southern states had them), so that they would rant about how slaves built this country then is rather weird. The whole scene overall was full of historical inaccuracies biased claima and made it seem like blacks are oppressed and whites are oppressors. I am not sure who is most insulted by this - Me, a white person from sweden, a country with no history of slave trade, who are told from this ahow that i am a villain to blacks because what another nation with the same race did to them hundreds of years ago, OR the black kid watching this made to believe the whole world will always discriminate against them.

The tone also seems to imply that many progressive ideas are some strange new wild concept, as though many of them didn’t live through the 60’s.
I think part of the disconnect is that the younger generation is becoming much more frank with their discussions of social issues, then marketers promote that aspect more heavily than before.

To sit through and get all the clips of angry right-wing b*llshit-spewing nonsense to get the material necessary for these videos. It can't be a pleasant experience.
As for the "This is propaganda. What we do is a-political" it kind of reminds me of how I've encountered religious people who argue that they aren't religious at all. No, no. Because, of course, their religion is the truth, it's all the other religions who are wrong (I had a teacher who was a very devote christian who argued that he couldn't be religious because he didn't see christianity as a religion).
Also, also, the political reading or apolitical art thing. I remember the "all art is political" and how one person countered that with "what's the political message of TETRIS?" (which can lead into the debate on wether or not video games are art but I won't go there this time). I'd say that all art is expression, and all, to almost all, expressions can be viewed and interpreted in a political way.
Take something ancient like a fable of Aesop. Let's take the one with the dog who sees their reflection in the water. The reflection also has a bone in its mouth so the dog opens their mouth to take the bone from the other dog, and in doing so, drops their own bone into the water. Simple story, I could retell it all in two sentences, and yet the moral is clear; "Don't be greedy or you might lose what you already have."
Can this story be interpreted in a political way? Sure, some would call it anti-capitalist propaganda for daring to say that greed is bad. Greed is good! It's thanks to greed and capitalism that spawns innovation and yadda yadda, words words words. IT'S PROPAGANDA!!
Because it seems like these days "It's propaganda!" doesn't necessarily mean "it has a political agenda" as much as "It has a political agenda THAT I DISAGREE WITH!"
(Not to mention how some would get upset that I refered to the dog in the singular they, since wether or not the dog was female or male was irrelevant to the story, but that would be seen as "propaganda" and forcing gender into a story were it doesn't belong and yadda yadda, words words words).
As for TETRIS you can definately read that as a critique on conformity. Because when all blocks align on a row they dissapear. That's what happens when you conform, when you become part of the majority group. You dissapear. All traces of your individuality gone.
Now, was this the intent behind that the creator behind Tetris was trying to say? Probably not, they just wanted to make a fun game as a way to teach math. But still, you can interpret it in a political way.
Truly apolitical art is hard, not to say impossible, to make as soon as it becomes a bit more complex, has any morals or hell, even if it's just a joke. Which brings me to the classic line when someone was criticing singer-songwriters during the 60's who often had politically charged text that who said that they shouldn't write or sing about anti-war or pro-civil rights and just "Shout their mouths and sing". I think that greatly summarises this thing.

To me, if you don't like art just don't buy it. I only call for more serious action if it's hate speech or child pornography. I respect people's freedoms more than these conservatives. There's loads of art with messages/morals I don't agree with, but I don't demand it be banned, I just don't look at it or buy it. With bigoted views, yes I hate these views and disagree with the., I demand it be removed because it calls upon mistreating and dehumanizing people who deserve rights. And juatifies treating them as subhuman.
If there's any reason I get in my soapbox about human rights, it's because in society, we should think about other people.
    Current conservatives have enabled
selfishness and cruelty and have created the idea that meanness is power. I think this is from villifying Liberals, that anything a liberal supports is evil and that to not be as an evil liberal you shouldn't listen to them or cobsider how they view things. This way you can be a hero. After all in this world view, villains never mean to do the right thing or have human qualities.
I also question, what's bad about wokeism? What is wrong with teaching Kids about LGBTQ+ folks? What's dangerous about learning that the founding fathers were slaveowners? I am a mixed race autistic cis-het man. I know people that are LGBTQ+, they aren't villains, they aren't harming children. They're people who wish to live their lives abd hust trying to get by.

3 episodes out of 2 seasons have problematic idealogy. That means over 90% of the show is actually fun. I'm a moderate who Leans conservative a little but after watching the show with everything in context, it's not that bad. "Slaves built this country" was a debate competition so yes it is inaccurate in order for the characters to win. Zoey's silence is a medical condition. Age of innocence was everyone being bad friends to Zoey. Juneteenth actually debunked white privilege.

Also the thing I notice, is that these people have always been represented in media, but now that people who are different then them, and have like, 1% of the representation that they have, they flip out because they’re not being represented. It’s kinda ironic.

SUMMER MAGIC was set in Massachusetts and (mostly) Maine. The history of Massachusetts has been characterized by only minor systemic racism - most of it the doing of private entities and not the government anyway - and that of Maine by even less. I don't see how depicting each of these states in the 1910s is linked to civil rights.
You're also assuming that people who are nostalgic for the culture of a past era are also nostalgic for its politics, which isn't necessarily true. Fans of 1980s culture are usually not great lovers of Ronald Reagan; in fact, more often than not they enjoy the ANTI-Reagan cultural expressions from that decade.
