Good morning 🌞 Ian Matthews, I really enjoyed watching you take the motor apart and how you got the copper wires and the tool that was stuck out of the motor.
Today I was given 2 older dead solar inverters- probably 5kw models. I stripped them out, aluminium lids, large ally heat sinks on the sides, that's ok, but the heavy gauge copper windings once cut off the steel cores netted me 15.5kg for the two inverters. Here in South Aussie that roughly equals AU$140- $150 if the price is still up. I'm working towards a 1 tonne payday so if the price is low now it wont matter to me. The newer inverters are made harder to scrap as the copper windings are set in a rubbery compound inside a cast ally case. You'd have to melt the ally off in a fire and burn away the rubbery stuff leaving the copper a lower grade.
I feel like you can cut off one side of the copper and then use the weight of the casing plus a hammer to get the rest out in tact. I've done that on a lot smaller of a motor.
