    Irish here, lived in Scotland, made more English friends then Scots. The average English person has literally nothing to do with what happened in Ireland in the past. We speak English, have the same humour, music, fashion, sports etc. as the British (English/Scots/Welsh). The tories, Ulster Loyalists and the Reece Moggs of this world will always be our enemy though, Im afraid, and a certain element of British society will ALWAYS look down on us as inferior.

      As an English person who moved and went to school in Ireland, there was an Irish perosn who blamed me for his family being slaves 600 hundred years ago,

      @@freneticness6927 yes they are, groups like the IRA were justified in fighting in the 1910s, 1920, when it was against solider and police etc, but killing civilians that had no involvement in the conflict is not justifiable.
      Just look up the Warrington bombing, the IRA bomb a building that killed 2 children, not soldiers, not politicians, just kids, in what way is that justifiable?
      It isn't, both sides need to take accountability for what they did wrong.

    • @muaythai1814
      @muaythai1814 18 дней назад

      @lunkycultist5519 then why only mention the I.R.A in your comment? Plenty of innocent people where killed by the British, that includes the military, the Police, Ulster loyalists etc. Heres an example, the quinn brothers and unfortunatelythere are many more. By the way the I.R.A didn't exist in the 1910's and during the war of independence the I.R.A where just as ruthless as they where in the recent troubles, if the old I.R.A had the weapons then, they would surely have used them as the Provos did. The old I.R.A disappeared alot more people than the P.I.R.A ever did and that's just in Cork. It was all a very sad time and actions taken on all sides where bad and hopefully never repeated, but there certainly should not be a hierarchy in which the Provos where worse than anyone else as that just factually is not true.

    Why are so many Irish still going on about the potato famine and saying English should be ashamed of themselves. No English person alive had anything to do with that. As an outsider, I don’t like Irish people. Any chance they get they spread hate about English people. Great Britain was founded by a Scottish king. The empire was as much Scottish but everyone blames England. Scots had a major part in colonising Jamaica but English fully get the blame. Don’t Irish people have anything better to do? I’ve never seen any English person moaning about the Germans in WW2. Never! And that was a more recent history. I just don’t like this mentality of the Irish. But if they like to generalize so much then that’s like me saying all Irish priests are pedophiles because it was always the Irish catholic priests causing trouble outside of Ireland.

      @@ko0974 well if you knew then why did you say it didn't happen?
      The truth is Ireland wanted land and they took it from the scots who are infact British and not Irish.
      But you can live in denial if you want.
      But the fact is Ireland was a colonialists long before Britain was.

    I think young brits today are similar to Americans in their lack of knowing anything outside their country.. Ireland is very close to the UK but most brits prob don't know that.. Modern uk is poor version of America 😂

      We know, but we just don't care. It's a relatively insignificant country full of angry paddies. Ireland have achieved nothing of note for the last 2 decades in sport, culture, music. And now it's just a tax haven for greedy corporations. Not much to be proud of there my friend. But still, who cares its only Ireland. Probably the reason people don't appear to know much about Ireland these days is because it's becoming increasingly insignificant and dull. Far more interesting things going on elsewhere.
