What disability? Two beautiful souls find each other and use their communication skills to enhance their life experience together. Their level of functionality is above and beyond the ability of many of us. Wow.

My 4 dogs are all PAWSITIVELY the same!!! I cant take a shower, or get dressed, or pick up my purse, or fill a water bottle, or get my keys, or walk down the hallway, without them thinking I'm going somewhere that they MUST go, as well. 😂 I have 2 German Shepherds, a Cane Corso Italian Mastiff, and a Chihuahua/Rat Terrier. I designed my van interior to make sure everyone has their own separate space to sit, walk around, or lay down. They go nearly everywhere with me. ❤❤❤❤
When I was in collage, I was going through an ASL course, and was going to be an interpreter. So I ended up getting a deaf Great Dane. He got a sign name before I did, he LOVED going to Deaf Events at school, and all the Deaf Folks I met LOVED him. He'd get very annoyed if I didn't sign what I was saying, cause he wanted to be part of the conversation!! Best damn dog I've ever had. I loved that guy with my whole soul. My Sweet Castiel.

my mother adopted a deaf dog. we don't know sign language but have developed our own signs that she knows very well. no one can tell she is deaf, i don't see any handicap in her, she is just a happy, affectionate and very intelligent little dog. we are very happy to have her with us!!!

I am severely disabled with PTSD and I also use a wheelchair. This story is so heartfelt and the book is so educationally important to be shared everywhere. It should be translated and published all over the world. Kudos to you , Karlie and Rhett. Worthy of that book award, The Caldecot?

This made me so happy to see - there is ALWAYS a great dog (cat, bird, rabbit, etc) for the person looking for one! She did a wonderful job teaching him and he is obviously such a smart and good dog!
You put your dog to work. You blest him with communication . Oh thank you. Now that’s a rescue! Let’s buy the book, especially for children to encourage their empathy and understanding. My daughters and a granddaughter all sign. No hearing loss just love for others.

Oh how I love this!! Writing a book about their relationship and journey is so wonderful. Nearly 20 yrs ago I rescued a white miniature poodle found wandering alone in the fields near the TX/OK border who was discovered to be deaf from birth. I named her Baby and she didn’t even know that she knew how to bark as she never made a sound except in her dreams. I utilized a light behind my seating areas in order to get her attention from flashing shadows and my own made up signs. She was thought to be about 8 when found and I had her for three precious years. She started having seizures and went blind but I sure loved her tenacious little soul. RIP Baby. Praying Rhett and Karlie and family continue to have many more years of loving one another❣️
For some reason I decided to teach my rescue keschond mix, Cinder hand signals with verbal commands. In her elder years she became deaf and yet still understood commands. It was great. What a sweet girl she was. In my ❤ always!

yes I did , my Boo recently left this plane . After witnessing another couple use Sign language in a local dog and guardian training session with their deaf dog family member . I decided to do the same . Boo was a master at communication and I am very happy with what we achieved together. She remains the love of my life and I continue to honour her by raising funds for other dog and animal sanctuaries with Boo's dog tuck shop . I intend also to create a book about Boo. Proud of you my baby girl 🥰🐶🐾💗

Gorgeous heeler! Although I am a hearing person, I taught my heeler sign commands as well- we go out into the wild often and when checking our wildlife we have to remain quiet!!
This is so fantastic it shows a lot of dedication and drive and love on her part. She is so amazing and the dog also and what a beautiful dog it is. This should happen to all deaf dogs and people should know the joy it is to own a deaf dog.

Gorgeous heeler! Although I am a hearing person, I taught my heeler sign commands as well- we go out into the wild often and when checking our wildlife we have to remain quiet!!
This is so fantastic it shows a lot of dedication and drive and love on her part. She is so amazing and the dog also and what a beautiful dog it is. This should happen to all deaf dogs and people should know the joy it is to own a deaf dog.
