Anderson talks about going back to “Cousin Otto’s house” all the time lol. I swear we’ve never once said Otto was his cousin. He just somehow thinks that lol

It was a drier than usual year for many areas. Hotter than ever down here. Heat makes water evaporate faster. Aeration puts hot air into the water, making it evaporate faster. That and the air itself helps push away water molecules. One person can only do so much, getting friends and family involved can lead to more projects getting done, if you don't socialize the whole time!

Yes, it has certainly been dry around here. At least from August on. Yea, I know we definitely warm the pond in the summer months, thus increasing evaporation. If we didn't have fish I wouldn't be as concerned about keeping it on all the time. I will get all the projects done....at some point ha

I noticed when i put the aerator in my pond the water level started dropping at a way faster rate. I read that the aerator makes the water cooler which makes it evaporate faster. Im sure you already know this.

It definitely has an effect. In the summer months, when the air temp is warmer than the water, the aerator will increase the water temperature because it increases the surface area of 'cool' water that is exposed to the warmer air. Thus, increasing evaporation. In the cooler months, it will have the opposite effect. As the air is cooler than the water, the aerator cools the pond and slows evaporation. It's also noteworthy that nutrient rich water evaporates faster than nutrient deficient water. There are a lot of variables to consider!
