Thank you! I travelled to Romania towards the end of July. There was a bit of traffic but not much. However there were quite a few road works in germany so there was a bit of traffic then. You will also need vignettes to get into Hungary.
Also, make sure to start your journey on a weekend so you get less traffic. This is because on weekends trucks are not allowed on the motorways which reduces traffic by a lot.
Traffic during summer holidays going is okay, we tend to hit a lot of traffic coming back to the UK, we drive to and from Romania every summer holidays for the last 22/23 years :)

One thing I found and that is noticeable even presented in this video, is how prolific tailgating is on the European continent, particularly BG and RO.
great video, but i can't help but notice that the motorway driving in this video (in the UK at least) is pretty horrific. Constantly hogging the middle/second outer lane when there were no other cars on the inside of you. Top tip - Return to the nearside (left) when not overtaking...
You over took 2 British cars early on in Germany, then you got fuel and rested. Then just before Austria, you over took them again. What are the chances!
driving in netherlands, belgium germany, austria is nice and it does not take a lot to go thru these countries, because the average speed is over 100kph, but in Romania....uhhhhhhh... what is a highway?
I've done the same journey myself only to Bulgaria, I recommend going via Luxembourg though if you want a bit of variety. The Frankfurt way I think has alot of traffic and not so enjoyable to drive.

Yeah, it's extremely sad that there's now a border check. Brexit has been a horror show for the uk.

did you watch the video ? then you see there is train connection between UK and France. they go with the car on the train
When you go on the car You use the car train and I will take you on dark tunnel underwater to France
