The fact that they released Snake as-is without anyone stopping to think "isn't a 4 mana lifesteal pyroblast that ignores armor and invulnerable kind of OP" speaks volumes about the design team
the issue isn't the excavate reward in itself its more of an issue that you can bounce it.
If it wasn't strong nobody would play excavate Warlock. Thij was down to 10 life by T4.

Why they keep designing these toxic cards is beyond me.
To elicit extreme emotional reactions - glee, of pulling something broken off, or spite, of being on the receiving end. That eventuslly becomes an addictive cycle which keeps you stuck to this game much like how a casino keeps its customers. It is toxic by design, my friends, because it is ultimately profitable.

Thijs I’m not here just wanting to correct, but finale and final are pronounced differently. Finale sounds like fi-na-lee. Different from finally as well. The i I’m finale is like i in the word ignore, and a like a in apple. Fin-nal-eee. Jeez this is English
