Good luck with your videos Sarah. There’s a lot to learn about lathes but I’m sure you’ll get along just fine. I have had Southbend and Boxford lathes, among others. I like your presentation style, which is quite informative, interesting and I have subscribed to your channel. You may find my channel of interest for you, containing tutorials using a Boxford lathe, which is identical to the Southbend model. I hope you continue to enjoy your interests and have fun during the learning process. 🍀 Keith
Thank you for this….I have been messing with mine trying to get it apart and the knowledge that the collar is screwed in there is exactly what I needed The “eyelet” is the cross feed slide screw nut
Thanks for posting this video. I was having trouble with mine and tried everything to get it apart with damage. I purchased the pin wrench you suggested and it came wright off.
Loved the video Sarah....Just tearing into my SBL 9A over the last couple days. Not gonna strip mine down and repaint to show room quality, but I bought the Ilion Renovation Guide and Felt kit. Starting with some of the easy stuff to pull off, but I am gonna tear it completely down to go thru it!
I have some questions please. I have a 10L, not a 10K but they look similar. Only difference I’ve seen is the slide screw not. Anyway, in the dial, under the thumb screw there should be a pin and brass shoe. You only took out the pin. Can you tell me the length and diameter of that pin? The knurled thumb screw pushes down on the pin to hold it to the slide screw. It seems like I’m missing a few pins and brass shoes. Thanks, Paul
Fabulously helpful, thank you very much for putting this out there. I was very stuck before I found your video!
Thanks for the video! Was down to this point in disassembly and was stuck. Thanks again.

Thank you! I couldn't figure mine out last night. The end handle screw has no slot left. It's all smooth like a ball! Now I know.

Tenho um torno south bend lathe alguém tem videos explicando o funcionamento do mesmo.
Ainda nao trabalhei com o meu.
You have won half the battle already with those large dials....pretty taxing to have to work with the small ones, with old eyes.
It’s funny to hear a high squeaky voice talk about lathes. 😬
You call that lucky?
