thank you for this, it clarified a few things, like the fact I should have the military policy on Auto. Damn, I feel they could have a much better job at making these things clearer without the need of looking for youtube guides...
Great tutorial! Are you planning on making a fuel tutorial? As a new player I find fuel system in this game confusing. Apparently I have a surplus but stations are dry. Fleets once they've used up their fuel they just crawl to the destination...
Fuel tankers, in a fleet, will refuel ships low on fuel, but you have to stop the fleet and leave it without any orders for a while. The tankers may also fly to a nearby station to fill up with more fuel.
@@scottsspace5562 oh good, i was just coming to ask for the same thing. another...quirk, let's call it, of the game that could make someone quit in disgust.
@12:30 Wouldn't that require you to have CL's upgrade into CA's ? Which can be done but isn't usually the standard option since they have different roles. So you would need to specify that all CL's of this type will upgrade into CA's which you might not want.
So if you have an existing fleet, say with two regular command cruisers, and you want to replace them with fleet command cruisers? Could they be retrofitted or would 'top off' just add the new ones? Does decommissioning old ships give much money/resources back or is it very costly way to upgrade your fleets?
It's hard to tell. Right now it seems that it will just treat them as satisfying 2 cruiser slots. It's supposed to retrofit them (if you set it to) but I can't get it to work. Decommissioning old ships is only worth it if they are not one of your designs (I.e. a derelict ship) because you get tech from it. Better to retrofit to a new version in general - it saves time for one thing (faster than scrapping and then building a new one)
Is there anyway to change a fleet template and add new ships to the fleet? When I think I've done it it doesn't happen. I think they screwed up by changing how you formed fleets in Distant Worlds Universe. That was so simple. You just chose a ship and added it to your fleet. This whole system of templates is unnecessarily complicated and I'm growing disgusted with it. For me it's making the game almost unplayable and I played and enjoyed Distant Worlds Universe a lot.
i appreciate the extra effort you put in to make the explanations clearer. thanks.
You're very welcome!

Yes - it will be covered in one of my upcoming fleet videos.
