After having smelled so many fragrances done by Annick Ménardo lately, wearing Jaïpur Homme, the Eau de Parfum, felt like coming home. Not to say it wasn't surprising, but the familiarity helped me faster get acquainted this remarkable un-amber as I called it in the video. Done for Boucheron in 1997, the scent is a sparkling spicy-woody carnation that with a layer of Shalimar, always just beneath the surface.

Annick Menardo creations are beautiful... I have EdT. And Love it 🥰
They really are! It’s your ig post about Jaïpur that made me purchase it, finally ♥️
This is so beautiful and unbelievably underrated and affordable. I agree that it doesn’t smell like anything else. But also agree it reminds of Shalimar. I’ve always found Jaipur to be an eastern version of Habit Rouge EDP. Also in the same realm of L’Instant de Guerlain. It’s like if Annick Menardo was tasked with making a 90s Guerlain.
EDT is less spicy and way less clovey than EDP, btw. It’s like if you removed a lot of spice from EDP and slightly increased the verbena and vanilla. I’d say EDT is closer to Roma Uomo than the EDP. But they’re 85% similar and both excellent!
Wow, thank you! That was a very interesting read! I agree! As it happens, i’m currently wearing (well, what’s left of last night’s) Habit Rouge Parfum. The drydown is mainly vanilla and it is smoky and very spicy (cloves). The smell of cloves is present in vanilla so I wonder if it’s simply vanilla that we’re smelling in Jaïpur edp. And it does make sense that in the more diluted version, the edt, the eugenol (cloves) note would be more faint meanwhile the familiar vanilla note would be more present. It seems like a paradox but it’s not. The lighter the concentration, the more familiar the vanilla. The heavier it gets, the woodier, darker, more leathery and yes, spicier it smells. Fascinating! The only thing Annick Menardo worked for Guerlain, Bois d’Armenie is now discontinued. I wish we had her at Guerlain.
@@MemoryFlo That’s a great analysis on the vanilla being more clovey in the EDP because it is more intense-makes sense! Also totally forgot about Bois d’Armenie! Was under the impression she didn’t do anything for Guerlain.
Can’t believe I just discovered your channel. Really enjoying your videos! Was going to recommend you sample the Les Abstraits, but turns out you already did :) Keep it up and looking forward to your new videos!
I really like les abstraits! Waiting for a no import option to get Bel Ame at some point❤️
Well said. Beautiful fragrance. I only have the edp as well. I've always been curious about the flankers. ✌🏻🙏🏻
thanks! don't know the flankers at all, i'll try the mall, maybe i can find some
@@MemoryFlo oh the flankers are long discontinued I'm sure. I've taken to eBay and there are a few out there... I'll report back if I get my hands on any ✌🏻🙏🏻
Beautiful fragrance, even tho they smell nothing alike, i class it in the same space with Terre D'Hermes as in classy-versatile. And for the price, backup bottle(s) worthy! For me its dusty, a bit warm spicy and almost incensy. Nothing sharp, herbal or fresh for me with this one. Its amazing how different noses work!
To me it smells of spicy carnation with the softest amber. But different noses smell different things, indeed!
Thanks for sharing your love for this old perfume I have liked from day one in spite of being a girl 😂
You’re very welcome!
Another landmark in the menardo catalogue this is fantastic..I own the EDT. Speaking of boucheron have you got any experience with pour homme? I've wanted to try it for a while but I think would need to be a blind buy
No, unfortunately, i have smelled it but do not remember it. I will have to get a refresher somehow
Some say it smells like Naxos , what do u think ?
I’ve smelled Naxos and remained thoroughly unimpressed😬
