Totally agreed. My favorite work besides Jodeci by DeVante is Mary J Blige I Don‘t want do to anything from the What‘s the 411? Album. Not only one of the most underrated songs from Devante as a composer and producer, but also one of the most underrated ones by Mary J
I love JODECI I met devante in London I believe it was between 2006 - 2009...and I've never met a nicer person...after they performed in Wembley my friends and i found out that they were to be at the hotel in the foyer...we thought the info we got wasn't real but we still went along ONLY TO FIND them chilling and talking to ppl there....I was shocked but happy. When my sister and i saw devante we offered to buy him a drink and he was TOTALLY SHOCKED (I guess he was used to young girls asking him for drinks) and after looking stunned for a while he said only if you want too.....he only made us buy him ONE drink and he was so humble with it....after standing with us and talking for a while he went and walk around alittle.....then he came back to where we were (always accompanied with his assistant and friend)and I asked him if he was looking for any new talent and could i sing for him and he said sure hes always looking for new talent....we went over to where the sofa was(my sister, best friend, devante, his assistant and I) and then i sang for him....and I'll never forget those words he said after i sang which was "give this girl my number right now" I thought i was dreaming lol....after that he chilled with us on the sofa and we spoke for about 1hr....about life and all sorts....we all spoke like when you speak to your siblings...even though in my head I was screaming (devante is really talking to us lol) anyways after, he said he was going back to his hotel room so we said it was nice meeting him and was just about to leave...then I asked him when should I call and he said he was leaving for America the next day so he would be back in the studio around Wednesday which was three days away...I said OK I will call him then we went home. Wednesday came and I went to call his phone and his assistant answered, I said can I speak to devante and she said 1min....he came on the phone and I was like hi devante I don't think you will remember me but....(and before I could finish he was like) yes I remember that voice your _ _ _ _ _😮 I was shocked😮, I was like wow you remembered my name😊 and he was like "of course how could I forget a voice like that "🤗 anyways long story short we planned that he would bring me over to America and have me in the studio.....but being the clumsy CLUMSY girl I am, I lost his number😕😢😢😢😭😭😭😭😭....but best experience EVER....THANKS DEVANTE for just being who you are....A REAL GENUINE NICE GENTLEMEN 😊
I'm 37 and I agree with you about bringing this type of music back ,but today's youth wants to listen to trash that sounds alike so they can feel cool and stay ignorant ...this type of music definitely needs to make a comeback but if not I will just listen to this and keep it moving...
K-Ci will forever be one of my favorite singers of all time. It’s unfortunate that he didn’t have a solo album in the early 90’s(in his prime), cause I bet it would of been amazing and possibly a classic

Al B Sure wrote a magnificent song and Jodeci was the perfect ones to sing it. They really took this song to different heights. It’s crazy how we will never have music this good ever again.
I still recall the day I first heard this song, it was summer of 92 and little did I know, but my time in NY was coming to an end (as a resident). Can't tell you how many impromptu singalongs I witnessed singing this song - random dudes at the mall, on street corners - every brotha in every borough had been bitten by the Jodeci bug! Not that I blamed them, I sang along every time it came on the radio (thankfully no one heard me lol). It was a great time to be young, alive and cognizant of the world around you. Kids still rode bikes and played outside, no cell phones, computers were learning and administrative tools, nothing more (though that would change in a few short years). People still went to the park and cooked out, threw fish fries that turned into house parties - I miss those days. I look around today and am saddened to see how insular and cut off people have become in general.
@@lisabradford8180 80s had MJ sorta RnB, he sang great. also after 7 came out in the late 80s. Luther and Linnell Richie had hits in the 80s, also babyface, bobby brown, Gerald Levert. Davante Swing is the most underrated producer of all time. His work spans beyond Jodeci
Totally agreed. My favorite work besides Jodeci by DeVante is Mary J Blige I Don‘t want do to anything from the What‘s the 411? Album. Not only one of the most underrated songs from Devante as a composer and producer, but also one of the most underrated ones by Mary J
My name Devante my mom n dad named me in the 90s
Yep HE did NO MORE PAIN for TUPAC
Ppp
AL B Sure wrote this classic with Swing......this song was written for Al's WIFE the late Kim Porter.
Im here, because Al B Sure said this the song he thought of when Kim Porter died. I didn't know Al had a part in written this song. Wow. Damn Puff
As a 2001 baby, I’m happy I was raised on good music.
The good Lord has blessed our people with such talents. Thank you dear Lord!
He is lord up above
God is the author of this song!!
Stop being racist
This song was the reason I started and still do music and production
Enjoying it on January 1st 2025. Blessed life everybody, specially you my african blooded brothers. It's our time
All started from church 🙏🏾whoever do their videos , that person has quality in filming 🔥🔥🔥🔥
As for Clumsy... clumsy Lol!😹
Sorry atleast u had met him in person, u can still DM him on Social Media Platforms!
Can we bring this type of music back?
I'm 37 and I agree with you about bringing this type of music back ,but today's youth wants to listen to trash that sounds alike so they can feel cool and stay ignorant ...this type of music definitely needs to make a comeback but if not I will just listen to this and keep it moving...
yes, please.
We can 😍😍 why not 👌👌❤❤
K-Ci will forever be one of my favorite singers of all time. It’s unfortunate that he didn’t have a solo album in the early 90’s(in his prime), cause I bet it would of been amazing and possibly a classic
You know they should have Gotten a Grammy for this Song. Al B Sure Wrote this Dedicated to Kim Porter RIP GOD BLESS HER.
Devante already wrote Forever My Lady Al b Sure added the first lines so your having my baby when Kim Porter was pregnant with their son Quincy.
I was in the 6th grade when this song came out and set ablaze R&B. I'll be 42 next month and hands down, it is STILL a force to be reckoned with among QUALITY in R&B hits!
90s best in my high school we used to bump this jodeci

Al B. Sure def did his thing with this one and Jodeci blew it out the park with the vocals💯.....awww makes it more heartfelt knowing the story behind it🥹🥹RIH Kim Porter🙏🏾🙏🏾🥰🥰🥰 #MissThisEra90s
Devante Swing wrote most of song
According to Kci, Al B Sure only wrote one line, “So you’re having my baby”
We had the best from the west we have real love bring it back. I love me some Jodeci.
Really Jodeci and Boyz 2 men was literally one of my top favorite favorite r&b 90s groups ever and still are like who agrees with me?😜😜✨
Me
I love these Beautiful Songs😍❤.... I think the 80's and 90's were the best for Good Music and Movies!!!
No New Edition?
@@thedalmatianpack Right like today aint like them 90s and 80s❤
😀🖐🏼
90’s music videos were so beautiful
I always loved how they mentioned the most precious thing is raising a family together, you don’t hear too artists highlighting the importance of raising a family.
I look around today and am saddened to see how insular and cut off people have become in general.
what a jam. I so miss the 90s. it was definitely the best decade for RnB.
Yassss .. these kids have nothing to reference but what we grew up to.
The 90's and 70's are mine for rnb
The best time for music and growing up. If I could go back in time this is where I'd go.
@@lisabradford8180 80s had MJ sorta RnB, he sang great. also after 7 came out in the late 80s. Luther and Linnell Richie had hits in the 80s, also babyface, bobby brown, Gerald Levert. Johnny gill etc. so i guess the 50s started it with groups like Frankie Lyman and the teenagers, to the 60s and the temptations, to heatwave of the 70s, bobby brown 80s and the 90s with the goats Boyz II men, After7, 7mile, mint condition, Donell Jones, Soul 4 real. sorry I so love RnB. 5 greatest decades for RnB. and the early 2000s. white boys do like good music.
@@treatwomenright33 while i do like 90's and 70's i also like all the people you named too.
One of the greatest R&B songs of all time!!!! Jodeci will always be legends! I miss '90s R&B!

@Coconut girl yes!
The lead singers raspy soulful voice and the richest harmonies in the business makes this group one of the greatest and most talented r&b groups out there. Have everyone of their albums.
As a 90's baby rediscovery all the music during my time of birth. I understand how I was conceived and I'm almost 1000% sure it had something to do with Jodeci and R&B music from that era in general.
I am glad to have grown up to music like this. This is classic music that never goes out of style regardless of trend. Jodeci is a legend ALWAYS. They are the true GOATS of R&B and I hope one day they get their flowers. They deserve it.
