  • Abraham is Israel’s foremost ancient patriarch: God made a covenant with him, promising to make him the ancestor of God’s chosen nation. The pact was unconditional. God wasn’t going to rely on a frail human to keep his side of the bargain. Everything would be down to God’s faithfulness to his people.

    Introduction:
Around 2000 BC, Abraham, the great founder of the nation of Israel, escaped the famine in Canaan. The family came to Egypt because the River Nile provided a fertile land. Abraham had travelled with his beautiful wife, who was temporarily taken by Pharoah, until plagues initiated her release and they eventually left Egypt with many gifts. Above all, this story is about the faithfulness of God in a time of famine and fear.
