In this video, discover how to properly “grip” your lacrosse stick so that you pass and shoot more accurately.
I'm Coach Kelly official Lacrosse trainer of ILoveLacrosseTV. This is super important to shoot the lacrosse ball accurately. If you're doing it wrong which a high percentage of kids are doing it wrong. Right now in 10 mins by fixing your grip you can instantly improve almost every skill you're going to do on the field including catching, cradling, passing, shooting, ground balls, shooting the ball harder, your attack, just about anything.
So this is going to show you how to improve your shooting accuracy in about 60 seconds. A lot of my students say they struggle with shooting, catching, passing on the run, technique, etc. One common denominator that I have found is the way in which the lacrosse stick is held. How to hold the stick is the very most important thing.
#1 - The hands and the width. Use tape to put on the stick (that is where the thumb on your top hand should be)
#2 Now that we have the width right, the next thing is the actual grip. Some people how the lacrosse stick like a sledgehammer or a baseball bat which is incorrect. What you do is wrap your fingers around the stick. I want to keep a space between my palm & shaft so I"m going to drive that thumb into the side which is going to help us be able to snap the stick.
A good way to learn this is put your stick face down in front of you, your'e going to then pick your stick up at the very top of your fingertips. Then move them down a little bit not past your knuckles, make sure have that space between our palm & thumb. So now we can really snap our wrist. All of our accuracy, finesse, our power comes from this top hand. You're going to really feel the ball leave your stick.
What I see that is super common and I think that has to do with lack of strength in the younger kids because they are using sticks made for adults, the thumb is going to be on the shaft on the bottom & they're just using that bottom hand. The wrist should be straight, the thumbs should be wrapped around & we want to let the stick just breathe with that bottom hand.
Our top hand is going to be a lot tighter than our bottom hand so unfortunately 90% of youth players do it the opposite way. So it's really important to let the stick breathe with that bottom hand. So that's our grip and one way to get your hand stronger is just grab the stick, dig that thumb in and practice snapping like the (high-five exercise).
Another way is to buy a pair of grippers, get in an athletic stance and squeeze. I recommend doing 20-30 seconds between each set of wall balls.

Little feedback: in some of ur videos, just as in this one, only the left headphone bud plays sound. Especially when you're in front of the pyramid of success. The right ear bud is completely silent. Maybe it's something with your mic..? Placing it in the middle of the room would help maybe?
