    My husband, loves doing black bear and schofield pass, by far he says blanca pass is the challenge, be safe everyone, it's all about the journey.

    Thanks for posting these! My family is going on almost the exact same trip starting next weekend, Stony Pass, Alpine Loop, Corkscrew Gulch, also in a Tacoma 🎉

    We did Stony Pass a couple of years ago and when we got there, the alternator went out. Thankfully we were with a group and we able to swap batteries, finish the run and get back to Ouray on battery.

    This video has been very helpful in my research. I'm hoping to complete this in a Subaru.

    Update. I completed Stony in a stock height Subaru Outback going from Creede to Silverton. It was easy except for the rocky section. That took some wheeling and line choice but I made it with hardly a scrape. Didn’t stack rocks or anything like that. I went on to do Engineer, Cinnamon, California, Hurricane and Ophir as well. Good tires and skidplates required.

      @@letsgo_inc That's awesome, I bet you had a great time! Did you see the tame fox in Animas Forks? We are always impressed with the Subarus on the trails, they always seem to go full send without a care in the world. Thanks for the update!

    Another excellent video. What road do you take off of Hwy 149 to get to Stony Pass? How many miles one way? How long did it take you? We will do it in a Polaris RZR and would need to return the same way. Thank you guys.

    • @BigAltitude970
      @BigAltitude970  Месяц назад +2

      @@craiglowery4427 its 520, I highly recommend CoTrex to plan your route. You can download your map for when you lose cell service. It took us about 3 hrs. The RZR should take less time. Have fun!

    Vehicles going up have right-of-way, the ones coming down are supposed to pull over to let "up traffic" pass. Sure, let people behind you who are faster pass, but the ATVs/UTVs should have been the ones pulling over as they were coming down. Of course, you can still be the one to pull over for downward-bound traffic if you want (still, your safety comes first), just saying that's one of the off-roading rules.

    If that is scary to you guys, don't try blackbear or probably engineer. Just another worthless video of a nice trip that can be done is almost any decent vehicle.

      You should watch our engineer pass video. I rewatched this video, and we don't say anything about it being scary... maybe you misunderstood. Thanks for watching though!

      @@BigAltitude970 Your video was fine...the Peanut Gallery critics notwithstanding. Some people are just snarky (and socially-challenged) by nature, and "douglas" is just one of them. If he even gets invited to a party, no one wants to sit by him. Pretty sad...
      As for "scary," it's different depending on the person. For personal example, I find Black Bear Pass "scary" (due to my life-long acrophobia) so I wouldn't do the second half of it -- just the first half, reach the summit, take some pics and then back down the way I came. My truck could certainly handle it...but thanks, I'd rather not. ;-)

      @@billredding2000 Thanks Bill! I see the 'scary' aspect of these trails as the fun part. Kind of like a scary movie or haunted house, its something to get the blood flowing in an otherwise ordinary life.

      @@BigAltitude970 Well, at my age I've had 7 "scary moments" (SUPER scary moments really) in my life. Have 2 more "scary moments" to go (if I were a cat). So for me nowadays I only do mountain passes/trails rated Easy to (low) Moderate, as for me just being out on a leisurely (no hurry to get anywhere) drive in the outdoors is enjoyable enough.
      I'll leave "scary" (pass the torch) to the youngsters. ;-)
