I tried this in the store with zero intention to buy but couldn’t stop thinking about it later, so, after it haunted my dreams for a couple months, I bought myself one and love it. Such a great watch.
I was planning to get the green Willard SPB153 I’ve been wanting but picked up this piece after a thorough comparison at the store that had both. At nearly triple the price of the SPB, you really cant appreciate the difference until you feel both hands-on and side by side, and it certainly feels more like a “Value GS” piece than a high end Seiko. Coincidentally, I also picked up a Speedtimer SSC911 just for the hell of it on the same purchase at a great deal and I’m very please with both!
I literally just got mine today. The watch in person is much more spectacular. And my purchasing experience with Exquisite Time Pieces was smooth and professional.
I think EXQUISITE TIMEPIECES are out and out thieves! Bought several pieces from them and 2 out of 4 they sold me USED watches as NEW,....which upon inspection after delivery, they proved to be AND both separate salespeople KNEW it! I sent it back, but it cost me $50 bucks to do so AND after having spent so much money and only returning 1 watch (i lived with the other 2 "used" ones) ...they had the FUc$ing nerve to remove my "IP" address from accessing their website!!! I think that's illegal to begin with! STAY AWAY FRO ALI BABA and the 40 THIEVES! Seriously, watch your underwear w/these people!
I own the charcoal dial and it is definitely miles above the Prospex line both in fit and finish and movement accuracy. However the biggest weak part has to be the entire clasp assembly. Seiko really needs to step up their game on clasps if they want to compete with the Swiss boys.
I would say it's a few steps below GS quality. In this SLA063, the 8L35 (GS 9S5) is not adjusted to several positions, barely regulated, and does not have the same level of decoration (only difference being the gold lettering). If we look at the indices, it's clear that these ones are stamped, which makes sense for a diver (no risk of indices getting loose), but GS are all diamond-cut, applied indices with much better finishing. The small gap between the bracelet and the case is also not worthy of GS quality. The hands are also not finished to the same level as a GS. so, in summary, while this SLA063 is a very nice watch, it is not at the same level as a GS. I have an SLA037 and not even this one is on par with GS quality, even though it's getting close.
Yeah but you can't touch those high end Grand Seiko with the level of finishing you're talking about for anywhere close to $3000. Meanwhile Seiko prospex models in the $1200-1500 range are not close to half as nice as this one. It's a super value and the SLA models approach Grand Seiko level quality for a huge discount.
I think you got it backwards. They are not regulated in multiple positions at all, but they are well adjusted. The one I'm wearing has gained+3.5 seconds in the last 96 hours. So no complaints about accuracy from me. (Sla021)
@@drbobsnightmare2521 my statement was correct. My sla037 had a lot of positional variance out of the box and came at an average of +10s/d when worn. So, not adjusted to several positions nor well regulated. I regulated it to +1s/day on average but it still has the same positional variance
I got my 049 from your sponcer. Great willard. Really love that split finish case disign. Definitely a step up from a seiko diver. Nice color dial on this one. My only complaint with the SLA line is.........cheapo seiko doesnt regulate them. No excuse for that on a watch at this price point. I have one in Japan the right now being
Serviced under warranty. It was running plus 14 seconds. Come on Seiko! Since it was a mm300, back to Japan it went. Exquisite was great and sent it in for me. Thanks for the great service.
I dunno. The price isn’t too bad. There are $1500 Seiko Prospex watches that have 6R movements, and not nearly as nice fit or finish. This is more than twice as good as those.
I think it's twice as good as the Prospex line watches with 6R movements that are coming in at $1200-$1500, so from that perspective it kinda feels like a steal to me.
I picked up this piece last week and assure you it’s well worth the $2600 price I paid. I was planning to get a $900 green SPB153 and did a thorough side by side comparison to it, and this piece has Zaratsu finishing, a GS movement and ceramic bezel insert with an additional diver strap. It really feels more like a value priced GS than just another high-end Seiko.😎
Just purchased the sla063 for $1700 new in the UK.. really unsure about it. I love tbe movement and case but the dial and bezel colours look off in a tool watch, a bit too flashy.. i got it at a good price but would of preferred the standard grey black iteration. Also the strap and clasp whist being sufficient at 3k dollars RRP I'd expect better finishing and a clasp that is superior to the spb models, unfortunately this is not the case.

Good to see you posting again!
More to come!
Photography looks great! Represents the watch very accurately.
This is such a lovely watch. Thanks for the video 👍
Glad you enjoy it!

The clasp on this one wasn't the worst I've seen but it's not up to Tudor, Omega or Rolex levels for sure.
Endlinks fit isn’t either.
I’m looking at this or the sla049
Great looking watch! And a great review! I'm looking at the SPB147, which is a closer to my price range.
I love those 62Mas SPB models. Enjoy it if you get one.
Is the bracelet similar to grand seiko sbgh273?

I totally agree, however in my opinion these high-end Seiko divers are more attractive than GS divers.

Love the dial, great model.
That is a very tough sell price of over $3000 .00

It’s nice but I own both a sla051 and a sla057 and I have to say the latter is MUCH better finished.
the sla057 costs considerably more so its no surprise it is a better finished watch.
SLA’s are the best….
