After the black lives matters and protesting of 2020, his actor became uncomfortable playing a black cop, which is why they gave him an arc in season 3 where his character exposes his new racist training officer. Sadly, the actor still wished to leave, so it was decided that he would be killed off at the beginning of Season 4.

I miss his character the most of all the folks lost on the show. Too bad there’s no way to bring him back. Great character and great actor. He nailed that role.
