that warp backdrop is seriously good though, amazing work can't wait to see it finished
so true :)
In the Dark Heresy roleplaying game, there was a published adventure that took place on a space hulk. The most interesting part for me about it was a random table that shows the lingering effects of the hulk having been lost in the Warp for who knows how long. One of these effects is that the floor of the hulk slowly fades away as you walk on it until you're walking on thin air, or well, space... and accruing a hefty hit to your sanity as your mind refuses to believe what you're seeing.
Doing a section where the floor is just a sheet of polycarb or plexi glass with the void of space underneath would be incredibly cool.
I actually ran that adventure for my players some years ago. It was one of the most fun DH missions I've ever ran.
@@LegioPanda What was it called? Id be interested in looking it up.
@@anguscampbell3020 It is the second mission in the Purge the Unclean trilogy, pretty easy to find book. Has a lot of cool stuff even if you're not running any of the missions.
If there's one thing I learned from 80s scifi, it's that in the future our aesthetic will be octagonal. Rooms: octagonal. Corridors: ditto.
I love retro scifi vibe so much. I like the padding on the walls like the inside of the millenium falcon especially
@@EricsHobbyWorkshop Turning your spray cans upside down and spraying after each use should stop the spitting. (Assuming it's a slight blockage).
Man you can't leave us with such a cliffhanger. I need part 2 of this
He can, he did it 3 times with imperator titan
@@DongLick don't open this wound
@@Yashu1105 🤣
@@DongLick oh man. That was such a bummer
@@DongLick the titan is being worked on ! Its just a really big and difficult project. Its not always clear how to move forward. I boucne around between projects because it helps me stay inspired. More titan stuff is coming soon though
I really like this style of giving us the history and lore of these games & then creating some terrain
I’ve never had any interest in warhammer 40k but I love listening to you talking about it. Infectious enthusiasm
Thats so kind! Thank you
Man! First Henry Cavill and now... Tom Hardy!
I found your channel recently, Eric and must say my mind was just blown by your craft! SUBSCRIBED!!!
Greetings all the way from Lima, Perú! Keep up the wonderful craft and stay safe!
You've outdone yourself on this one Eric! That exterior gives a sense of scale and place I don't think I've seen on a table. Looking forward to part 2!
Exactly what i was going for, thank you!
it's a great idea too, since it only really adds a small amount of vertical height it's perfectly practical
Thats a sweet project, good distraction from working on the titan for sure.
Love it so far! How about on the emperor class, instead of the rod going down, you attached it horizontally to the warp backdrop so it's hidden behind the ship when looking out the windows?
I always imagine space Marines just riding golf carts through the ship and getting stuck like Austin Powers
This is so sick my dude. Congratulations on GW getting in contact for a collaboration, you deserve it! Can't wait to see the next installment
This is EPIC. Can't wait for part 2!
So, it is the "Event Horizon" movie, with dice and rules.
Love it.
Man, it's crazy that you got a sketch from 1509 in such good condition 🤭
Looks awesome so far! Can't wait for part two!
Congrats on the well-deserved GW commission!
Eric, awesome vid man!!! Really, enjoyed every minute of this.
That transition into the sponsor part of the vid was smooooooth
It was a good transition, though make sure not to actually buy from Established Title it's a completely fake scam.
@@sympylpyq634 wait then why is he advertising a scam?
Love the concept. But I heard a little voice from the warp : "No 3D print... Use our plastic terrain..." must be some evil demon lord. I would be curious of a complete scratch build of into the dark without any GW terrain bits. And as a Necromunda player, could you tell us your honest opinion about Into the Dark game ?
Into the dark is really fun and the atmosphere is amazing
Dude! I Think your content is some of the best on youtube! I love the combination of crafting awesome terrain and learning lore. The research you do, wheter its on knights or 40k, always brings so much to the videos! Keep it going!
Wow this looks awesome. I can't wait for Part 2. What a cliffhanger!
Loved Space Hulk back in the day, nice
Ok I'm subscribed now I need more of this table it looks super cool
By 18:13 we are all gazing spellbound past another ship into the infinite warp
Really cool! This actually makes me want to purchase a Games Workshop product. I have always liked Space Hulk. I look forward to the next video.
Cool project, I love the effort your putting forth to make this be as impressive and immersive as it is.
Thank you! Im stoked with how its coming
Hi Eric. What kind of glue do you recommend for gluing together chipboard. I'm gluing four chipboards together to create the foundation of a large fortress, but I want to make sure the boards don't suddenly come apart. Any thoughts?
Abosolutelely stunning ..... When watching these videos I can never chose what I prefer: the video itself and the quality of the build, or the fact that, in my head, Eric comes from a parallel universe where he is the 3rd brother of two famous gondorians, Boromir and Faramir, and just runs a RUclips channel ...
Lol never heard that comparison before. I’ll take it i guess haha
That spray painted backdrop made me gasp when you shone the light through it. You just never stop coming up with great ideas
AAAAHH! I REALLY WANNA SEE MORE OF THIS!
Love it, one of your most creative projects yet. BUT WHAT ABOUT THE TITAN, ERIC?
Unfortunately you don't become a real Lord. Just a gimmick. Just saying.
you arent a lord or lady if you own a piece of scottish land legally youd be a landlord or landlady if you owned property on that land. It's it's not a scam but it is only a novelty and your not recognised as a lord or lady by the heraldry office in any way. support the above dude through patreon instead. hes a cool guy.
I am not a gamer but WOW your work is incredible, that lighten background is first class. Been following your work for a while now and you only get better. Carry on.
Your videos are Chocolate Cake. Consumed too quickly, but I’m not sorry.
flip the can upside down and give it a spray after painting, only air will come out clearing the spray tip, which will prevent splattering.
Dude this is awsome and also a great homage to gothic and space hulk also I think u just advanced as a creator of terrain setting and emersion seriously I don't know how u can get better at what u do but u did well done
What can go wrong, ship just need to walk through hell 😂
Made my day, thank you
A new Eric's Hobby Workshop video right on my birthday! What a treat!
will you be anchoring down the interior walls or be setting it up for a mostly cutom layout everytime you play by keeping the pieces modular?
Really looking forward to seeing this completed!
the likely problem with your spray cans is clogged nozzles. When you finish using a spray can turn it upside down & spray until no pigment comes out, this clears the nozzle. Many spray painters take the nozzle off, storing the cans without a nozzle attached, either washing the nozzle or buying replacements.
That first ship interior piece was my favorite project of any channel hands down, but this is going to surpass it in every respect, great work!
Great vid! Love your blend of lore and hobby instruction! Glad youre getting some recognition from GW, your vids are awesome and definitely get me hype for warhammer! Off to an amazing start, excited to see this progress!
This is art, form and function gloriously fused into a glowing ball of awesomeness! Looking absolutely brilliant mate.
HOLY EMPEROR OF TERRA! This looks FANTASTIC!
Seeing this incredibly immersive table, more than anything, I just want them to relaunch Inquisitor at 28mm scale, it's the perfect game for this!
He really got their momeys worth when they reached out to you. Looks so good
That warp storm is genuinely the coolest thing I've ever seen. I can't wait for part 2.
This is going to be an epic series! The environment feels real already 👍
That two coats joke was effin great 😂 great artwork, you‘re an amazingly talented craftsman
Eric's really out here planting Terrain and Trees, what a Chad.
My Alpha Legion kill team would have a ball!
Never a dry moment!
Amazing dude! I cant wait to see what else is going to happen with this board, cus I'm already blown away by the exterior and backdrop
Between Ryanair and Paint ot Black, this guy's sense of humor is tremendously underrated
The source of most of the inspiration has been dragged into light in this one.
Enjoyable video. Cool build. Great work Eric.
Maybe your cans are spitting because they are too cold, I had this problem when storing them in a garage. I solved it by submerging them in a bucket of warm water for 10mins before use to warm up the perpellent before I started storing them indoors. Great build, can't wait for part 2!!!!!
A piece of advice, if I may. But I think you should shorten your video titles. 'Making a CUSTOM Warhammer Table on a SPACE HULK! Kill Team - Into the Dark (Glowing WARP sky!!) pt1' is a lot. You want something short, snappy that still conveys what you want to get eyes.
'Making a Kill Team SPACE HULK! table' would've been great, I think. Or 'Making a custom SPACE HULK! Table'.
I'm no expert but I think it's some standard advertisement ideas that could help your videos.
I'm like the biggest Battlefleet Gothic fan on the planet, and, man, that Emperor-class came out AMAZING! I LOVE it. Warms my callous, nerdy heart.
And that board is looking like it's going to be bonkers. Well done, mate! Can't wait for the finished thing.
I'd kill for a high quality image of that board so I could print out and print my own 6x4
and the kroot are also part of the tau empire (whch everyone seems to forget because, 'haha gw only likes SPAEHC MUREENS AND THE IMPERIUM')
Amazing work, but the cover of the BFG box is not an Emperor class battleship but an Armageddon class Battlecruiser.
That segway into the Established Titles plug was masterful.
Edit after finishing video:
Holy crap dude. That view out the window is straight up jaw dropping! Can't wait for the next part. This is EPIC.
I wonder what the next instalment of Space Hulk will bring?
With Primaris taking over Space Marines in the 40k setting, will Space Hulk stick with first born Terminators and ignore their new poster boys? Or will they release a Primaris version of Terminator armour?
My money is on Primaris Terminators.
This looks to be shaping up awesomely. But, you know what it isn't?
It is NOT an Imperator Titan! More Titan, I say!
Seriously though, this is looking super promising, and I can't wait for part 2.
"Battlefleet gothic is decades out of print and known as incredibly expensive, even for 40k... well thank god for ebay cause i just got one to display on my little warhammer board"
Absolutely gorgeous! LOVE the Warp backdrop. If I had skills, I'd steal the idea and techniques
Yay back to the food references. From religious tofu to marinating arched windows. Excited to see what's next with your project. Good start.
Incredible work! This gives me so much inspiration for future builds!! Can’t wait to see it all finished! 🙌🔥🙌
I just always love that witty dry humor. I start watching for the crafting ideas, but then end up laughing at the jokes, then have trouble explaining to my wife why I'm laughing at a miniature hobby video.
It's worth the awkward looks I get though.
I watch a lot of terrain and mini crafting videos. Like, probably an unhealthy amount. With that said, this is one of the coolest damned things I've ever seen. Amazing work.
Hey bro, if you have a chance look at my previous message, someone with your icon is hitting people up and saying they've won a prize...they are scamming folks using ur image.....
Great build, very atmospheric. I have a small suggestion though. If you will add more debris and ships in the background, try pinning them at their side to the backdrop, that way they will look like they are floating instead of standing.
To keep the paint from clogging up your rattle cans, right after you finish with the can, turn it upside down then depress the valve/button until no paint comes out (this effectively clears out the paint from the spray nozzle) usually around a second or two is all it takes. After you turn the can upside down, wait a few seconds for the paint to settle towards the top of the can THEN start purging.
Oh now that’s incredible! Just purchased the new boxed set because of it. Obviously commissions work! Well done buddy
Lovely Eric, thanks!
Really like what you have done so far. It really looks amazing looking out from the Space Hulk. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the board in the next episode.
Great to see another upload.
Job well done, Eric. Really well done!
love the background you made, genius stuff. i wonder if it would work without the softbox light? would an ordinary desk lamp work?
On a modeling level, I REALLY want you to get a bunch of modelers together and make a scale battleship.
It's fantastic, Eric! I love the creativity of this build! You are an inspiration to me! I cannot wait to build such an immersive table myself ;)
Hey Eric, there is a guy impersonating you telling people they've won something. Just thought I'd let you know. He replied to my other comment on this vid.
I actually found Space Hulk (2014) full game + minis and I plan on using the new terrain with it!
The Ship in the background is a nice touch, shame about the brass rod standing out like a sore thumb, though. You can use transparent re-usable plastic straws as excellent transparent flight stands for heavier items, just for future note.
I found myself more than once audibly exclamating 'YOOOO' as Eric showed off some of these cool details. I can dream to one day be so creative.
With your spray cans, try turning them upside down and spraying for a second or two when you finish with them. That should purge the nozzle of paint. My guess is they are drying up in the nozzle, causing the sputtering.
fun thing: battlefleet gothic is actually a follow up game, in 1991 they released a game called space fleet which was essentially the same thing. i never played it but i remember seeing people playing it in the stores at the time and it looked really cool, as everything gw does when your1 9 years old i guess 😆
Although I don’t have a U tube channel , l do a lot of the same kinda builds as you .. My favourite is probably Necramonda
Just a question where's the titan?
I can't express how cool this is , a few years ago l bought a space hulk game at a garage sale , my older brother was nursing a broken leg , he put his Lionel train crafting to work making me tons of terrain , and converting 2 inch plastic figures into all sorts of inhabitants of this enormous drifting wreck.
I would add a massive gun battery out of like pvc pipe for scale and maybe a mechanical loading arm. But over all amazing video! On god this is so cool man keep it up
I'm gonna be that pendant and day the Battlefleet Gothic box art was a Lunar Class Battleship.
I miss that game RIP
One of the cinematics you used is from the leagues of votann trailer….would we possibly see some sci-fi dwarven inspired terrain when they arrive 🤘
Lore, models, history, real-world comparisons. Everything about this video is great
I love it. I aways enjoyed that ship interior you made back when, one of my favorite pieces. Glad you got a chance to revisit it.
Navy Armsmen, the equivalent to our marines
Guards, boarders, armed personnel assigned to the ship and loyal to its captain
Incredible work, Eric. Thanks for sharing such an inspiring project! 🙏😎
@6:00 "The Imperial Navy..."
Shows an Astartes battlegroup 😁
I'm looking forward to Part II...This is going to be EPIC! (wrong scale)
I’d suggest mounting the battleship’s flight stand to the side, connected to the backdrop, so it looks even more like it’s floating in space.
