I truly love this song, this whole album actually. John's guitar solo is one of my favorites because of the space he leaves between notes and his tone is incredible. He works so well off of Flea and Chad.
It was so soothing and if I say I can sleep to
It like a lullaby it’s a big compliment.
Absolutely this is mine fave John studio solo too...those space time and the rhytym section of he did just simply masterpiece! Typical type of music what don't stop especially before the solo part starting cuz' you don't will be enjoy so much. ☹️
But that was a nice job from David and his wife too! ✌️
Thank you
Mrs. Heretic is right, the song is about breaking up. And she's right too about the contrast between catchy melodies and deep subjects. "Under the Bridge", "Aeroplane", "Warped", "Otherside" are some examples of that. Love this review. Greetings!
Thank you Carlos!!!!
Soul to squeeze
John's harmonies on this is also outstanding
I am super late to this, BUT...
I really love the two of you together :D You're sweet. But also, in terms of are reaction, Dave provides the insight on the instrumentation and theory. However, lyrics and meaning are super important in appreciating a song. I love Mrs. Heretic's insights here!
Great stuff :D
Hey David. See how your wife already approaches their music with a different feeling than yours, with some passion or prior knowledge that makes her have a different perception, in addition to influencing what she expects from the music. It's exactly like that but on different levels for fans. It seems that the more depth you can have in relation to the artist, the more peculiarities you can reflect on in the music. A simple example would be a completely different song that a hardcore fan is used to hearing from that artist. I think this is the beautiful side of art. Anything can be an important factor for an artist, as long as the right audience has access. We see a clear example of this in local rhythms. Isolated places. Where culture mixes with tastes and preferences. In addition, of course, to the depth of knowledge.
This is one of their good slow and smooth songs, not for everyone or everyhiur but perfect for the right time. It actually is one of my favorites
I also love the solo in this song.
Loved to see you two reacting.
That’s sweet thank you!!!
The guitar solo is amazing!
@@adammichener987 agreed!
@@dhwife3962 listen to Wet Sand from the same album, another incredible guitar solo. John really brought the heat on this album.
Omg. I love everything about this song and i love everything about your channel.
im so happy this video happened. I waited so long for this.
Thank you for your videos David!
btw, your wife made this reaction 10x better with her interpretations bout the lyrics. You guys are amazing!! Thanks!! keep up the gold work!
Thank you so much 😊
@@dhwife3962 🥰🥰
Really love you both together, you really have the ear and the knowledge that it’s always so nice to see you exited about nicely written music, and your wife has the layer behind the song in mind an thinks a lot about the lyrics! A song that combines both and will surely be one of your favorites of them would be „Otherside“. Especially Anthony is extraordinary there. But also the band as a whole is outstanding on that one. „I like dirt“ by them was actually my first introduction to funk pretty funny jam greeeaaaat Bassline and Antony really deserves his nickname tony flow on that tune! Would be nice if you would listen to them I‘m really interested on your take on them! I feel like you like them a lot more now then in your earlier videos, but i have to admit they are really broad on the music scale so it’s pretty hard to get to know all of their stuff many very different sounds right there.
"light and jazzy" said Rick Rubin the first time he heard the band jamming this. If you listen to the music they are putting out now with John back in the band (Black Summer, Poster Child, and the 3rd single Not The One is being released on Thursday) it sounds as if this next record is coming from the same place that this Hey-sound came from 16 years ago.
Thank you for the insight!!!
It's absolutely right about Kiedis's approach to writing.
A lot of RHCP quite catchy songs are actually full of deep lyrics, mainly related to drugs about Anthony and John huge struggle with heroine, as well as about the people they lost to it.
Under The Bridge or This Is The Place are great exemples of that.
(Loved you review, as always.)
Aww thank you glad I could join in!!!
The video is very cool. Your wife is very friendly and has excellent analysis. Everyone deserves it 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼. Hey, it's great, your analysis is always very safe and true, that's why we like your channel. Hug!

That’s so sweet DH works so hard for you guys!!!!
Great to see Mrs Heretic enjoyed her input and an entertaining watch.
Thank you!!!
Love this song alot.
The guitar work is amazing
Cole Dammett was the name Anthony Kiedis' used when he was a child actor. His father's stage name was Blackie Dammett.
That’s kinda cool!
"Under the bridge downtown Is where I drew some blood", "I don't ever wanna feel
Like I did that day" some of the main lyrics in under the bridge. Yes, the song is on his drug addiction. Actually, Kiedis was afraid showing it to the rest of the band cause he believed the lyrics are "too soft" and unlike the band's style. After singing the verse to Frusciante, they began structuring the song the next day. The two worked for several hours arranging chords and melodies until they both agreed it was complete.
I enjoy songs that have double meaning it’s important to culture!!!
My daughter plays this on guitar! And yes, I put my finger up and do the here we go...every single time! 😂
That’s awesome!!!
one of my favourite RHCP song - this whole album is amazing! did a european trip in 2006 when this came out and it brings back so many good memories!!!!!!
Más de los Peppers! Puede ser deep kick 🙏🙏
Underrated af song! One of my favorites on Stadium Arcadium and that’s what makes it my favorite album.. just so many songs that hidden gems like this get overlooked. I’d also check out She looks to me and especially in Michigan as 2 that come to mind that I’d put into that category as well.
Thank you both for the reaction! 😀
Thanks for the reaction Mr and Mrs Heretic. I love this song. It is indeed a breakup song and I confess it got me through a breakup once. It's also just a smooth as hell song with a great solo. Check out the Stadium Arcadium documentary where the they discuss how they wrote each song.✌
It might ruin future reactions lol!!!

Once the new album comes out April 1st you should definitely react to their song The Heavy Wing. The best they’ve sounded since the 90s imo and there’s no song that sounds like it
What a tasteful solo from john my god
❤️
especially in Michigan🔥 top song stadium arcadium
so long time not seen mrs heretic greetings from Panama
Hello there!!!
I love this song. The bridge feels a little corny to me, I can’t put my finger on why, but then the guitar solo that starts after it is so excellent I get over it immediately.
I always liked this song, but never picked up the lyrics, now that i payed attention, i relate so much to it.
I do listen to lyrics it’s what I enjoy most.
I feel like this whole album is underrated, every song is great just like this one.
Underrated? Lot of people love it. To me it’s their best and there are a lot of hidden gems in that album. Love she’s only 18, she looks to me, slow cheetah, etc
@@fleafans4465 I really like Strip my mind. The whole atmosphere and feel to the album is great. A lot of people may enjoy but when people talk about music or RHCP specifically you don't hear them mention this album.
One of John's Best Solo's
Hey David . There is a new song of chili peppers called "these are the ways". Have music video too.
Gonna be great a reaction to that song.
Anthony's dad's name was Blackie Dammett. He was an actor and Anthony lived and partied with him growing up.
and a drug dealer to the stars 😂
@@Vespa123 and a drug dealer to his own son too
I love hearing insight!!!
So fun to play on bass... pretty much double stops the whole way through
Someone tell me why this band gets hate? Flea is a master and one of the top 10 bass players in the world. Chad is a beast on the drums and is amazing. John is a legit genius. A virtuoso, innovative guitar player, one of the greatest in the world, and also has an amazing singing voice for lead vocals, but is also one of the greatest harmonizers alive. Anthony, while no one is claiming he is the greatest vocalist, is an amazing front man with a style all his own. Yet people hate on this band? I dont get it. So many amazing albums & songs. Still going strong. April 1st their legacy will grow even stronger.
I mean, they're my favourite band but theres a lot of reasons people wouldnt like them. They're a really strange band. They're not for everyone and that makes perfect sense.
Why would you be surprised that some people dont like the funk, rock, rap, groove band?
I enjoy the music the same way you do: I listen to the singer's voice like another instrument, and I don't care about the lyrics. People have different ways to enjoy life 👍👍
It’s why when we team up
It’s amazing
@@dhwife3962 You need each other to keep opening your minds into another way to enjoy music... You're an amazing team 👍👍
I'm like that too, me and my wife have the same dynamics
@@edoardoalves that’s so sweet thank you!!!

The lady adds an extra dimension missing from your other reactions to the Chillis - emotional tides. Should she accompany u further will open more of the Chillis tracks and beyond with other bands, u may see more audience overall.
Hi Kiwi I try to get on when I can I have a very demanding career I work 80-100 hours a week on average. I fit these in when I get a chance.
@@dhwife3962 sorry that wasn’t a criticism I was more just encouraging u to add that extra bit of spice, life allowing. Actually I’ll say Thank you both for a great Chili Peppers reaction
