definitely interested in hearing a little more on the before and after of the kit - performance wise. I went with the Split fires vs. OEM - due to cost and complexity. But interested in the legit performance gains at higher boost levels. Look forward to future instalments.

I definitely considered Splitfires as well as the other cheaper options. For me, it was knowing the reputation of the quality of the kit and the ease of buying replacement individual coils, if one should ever fail in future (rather than having to buy a whole set of Splitfires etc). I don't know many people who sell single Splitfire coils.
I also like knowing the R35 coils are good for some ridiculous power number about 2000hp (not that I'll come close to that) but it's something I just don't have to ever worry about again :)

    Nice work!
I modded the coil pack cover to allow more airflow, whilst still retaining the neat look on my CA. Might be worth doing if you're planning on running one. Nothing beats a nice strong, consistent spark hey!

That's a great idea and yeah I've seen a few off-the-shelf coil valley covers you can buy... but I kinda dig the look of the exposed coilpacks haha :D

is that a series 2 rb25? my connector to loom looks the same 8 pin but my r33 is 1995 (series 1.5) im not sure why it doesn't have the ignitor on mine which kit is it? mostly curious about getting the right loom

Yeah mine is a S2 RB25. If yours has the external igniter I think you have a S1 RB25 ie r33 S1 or similar vintage from memory

Any ever update on the dwell settings? i found a chart online that goes by voltage but not sure if its battery voltage or voltage that shows up at the coil connector

That's a very interesting point because I had the same question. I was told by 2x tuners that it's much of a muchness and the small difference in voltage between the battery/ecu or battery/coilpacks shouldn't affect too much.

Hey mate, while you've got it stripped down can you tell me the bolt size/thread for the coil holder bracket @ 7:35 hahaha been looking but can't find the actual size or spares anywhere.

    • @StreetSyndicate

Do you mean the bolts that hold the whole long bracket to the head?

@@StreetSyndicate yeah, not the ones mounting the coil but the ones mounting the coil bracket to the head

So can this conversion be used without an aftermarket ecu?

I can't confirm that as I haven't tried it. Though many people have said online that they work fine with the stock settings, and the fact that the stock settings in my Haltech worked fine, would suggest that you should be able to. But please don't take my word for it.
