    I love your sewing room! Thankyou for the tour.
    _Stuff_ sums it up, doesn’t it. So much _stuff_ !
    It doesn’t matter how much storage you have for _stuff_ you will always fill it up 😂
    The new cabinets your Amish friend made for your sewing machines turned out wonderful.
    I’m completely jealous of your vintage sewing pattern drawers!

    Marie, we all have a ton of "stuff" - we get it!!! I was particularly struck by your photo montage of the women in your family ❤ I think I'm going to make one for my own Happy Space... Thanks for sharing 🙏

    That is wonderful. My sewing room is 3/4 of my bedroom and my cutting table is my bed. Bending over to work is hard for me now so my favorite part of a project is now the hardest. I love the planning and laying out of a project and getting the cutting out perfect. I like the idea of the bed risers. That might raise my bed/cutting table to a better level for me. I have way too much "stuff" and nowhere to put it! Hence my sleeping and clothes storage is minimal!

    • @mybucoliclife
      @mybucoliclife  Год назад

      Bed risers could make a big difference! Make it easier to cut out and you get more storage under your bed. You might need a stool to climb onto the bed but worth it. 😁

    I appreciate you showing this functional room. I have moved 4 times over the last 7 years & I haven't gotten to settle my sewing space. Well, now we moved hopefully for the last time & I have a new designated space/room. Over the moves, I've had to leave behind many items that would have now worked, however, seeing your space...function is key & yes we have lots of stuff, however, over the years, I have used it and was glad I had it. Blessings on your continued journey

    Lucky lady you are. Enjoy your beautiful sewing room. I sew out of my kitchen peninsula so I have to set up everything every time I start a project and then put it away at the end of the day. I have one, and no more than one, of the essentials. I’m not complaining though. I get to sew and that’s perfect with me.

    • @mybucoliclife
      @mybucoliclife  Год назад

      I imagine that that keeps you very organized, and I know that you still have everything you need. There's been times when I lived more of a portable life and I had what I needed basically in one big sewing box. It's like sewing stuff in a vacuum needs to be filled. And as soon as I had a bigger space I had more and then I had a bigger space and I had even more and now I got more cabinets so I can get more. It's a weird cycle

    I’m impressed that you’re able to move things around & still find most of them. Every time I try, I spend hours searching for the thing I moved to a “better” location.🥴 My sewing room doesn’t have matching furniture either. Most everything was made or acquired at a different time or place as the need arose or was recycled from its previous purpose. I’ll take functionality over perfection any day. 😉 I do occasionally wish I had space for a rocker or easy chair in mine, but since I have lots of those in other rooms, I’m not going to worry about it. 😊

    • @mybucoliclife
      @mybucoliclife  Год назад

      Yes, I've seen where people have big loveseats and comfortable chairs to just sit in there sewing room. Mine would become a shelf just to put things on I'm afraid. Or a place for the cat to place more of her hair in my way 🤣

    Hello from Canada.
    Love your sewing 'space' and your many sewing machines.
    My sewing 'space' is my dining room table with overhead light. Sometimes when it is 'occupied' I gravitate to the living room coffee table as I did last night to trace off a pants pattern. I don't want to destroy my original. When I get a little more confident in altering my pattern I hope I won't be so 'chicken'.
    Thank you for sharing your 'happy place' with us all.

    • @mybucoliclife

      We make it work! My sewing place s few houses back was a tiny closet that I put a shelf in like a table for my machine to sit on. The kids were small and I could close it up.

    I love that your sewing room isn't straight out of an IKEA catalogue! I have a lot of stuff too and I just can't throw it away either. My husband paints miniature wargamming figures and he had stuff too. Our kids will no doubt throw it all away one day! Their homes are free of stuff! 😂

    • @mybucoliclife

      Oh we have so much. A few years ago I inherited a teapot in teacup collection from a relative. In addition to everything else in her house which was very full. So now I have hundreds of teacups. Beautiful stuff but lots of stuff. And my husband has his own hobbies too. So I suppose it will be great fun figuring all of this out when we are gone 🤣🤣

    I loved your sewing room tour! I love your 'stuff' and I so understand that concept. I store my patterns in an upright metal file cabinet. I have so many vintage sewing machines but, unfortunately, I don't have all of them on display like yours. My treadle is in my living room, my 201, 301, 99K, 401A and Featherweights in another room. Thank you so much for giving us a tour of your space, umm I mean your happy place!

    Loved the tour. I wondered what your room looked like. I was laughing at you saying “stuff”. One time when I was moving I labeled some boxes as “junk” and my Dad said if it’s junk you should throw it away. This made me think of that and like you said - sometimes it’s hard to get rid if things even if you haven’t used them.

    Love your sewing room. My whole house has furniture that doesn't match except the livingroom. My sewing room has a microwave cart and some Ikea stuff and a expandable table I bought from JoAnn's to cut on. When not in use it folds us pretty small. Which is good as my room is about 9 x 9...You've got a great size.

    I love your sewing room and the way you have displayed your old sewing machines. Do you sew on older machines? I’m new to your channel and assume you have spoken about your machines before. I am sewing on a 45 year old Pfaff that parts are no longer available for and at some point I will need a new machine. My problem is that I do not want a computerized machine. I realize I’m odd that way. I am considering an older Singer. I have a featherweight and a couple other old Singers but am looking for a 1960/ 1970’s model. My sewing area is a bit like yours, a bit of this and that with a bunch of stuff!

    I have ‘stuff’ which has taken over two bedrooms since our adult children moved. The knitting room contents has slowly reduced as well as the sewing room. Some items have gone off to a Christian Charity called ‘Tools with a Mission’ based here in the U.K. for their work overseas. They took a few of my knitting machines, sewing machines, material, cottons etc. other items have gone off to the College of Art and Design for their students. If you have items you no longer require then I am sure there are charities world wide who would be grateful. They provide equipment so people can earn a living. Old tools and gardening equipment help to learn a trade or grow crops. Having said all that, I still have lots of ‘stuff’ which will be kept until I get the sorting urge again.

      Now my closet, that is another story altogether. My bedroom has a tiny closet that I share with my husband, so my clothes have overflowed to a garment rack that sits next to it. Not beautiful but very functional. I don't keep everything. Some things I have given as gifts to friends or family. But I do have most of them and love my clothes.
