Congratulations on your pregnancy! Such an exciting time! I just had my first baby and wasn’t opposed to the epidural, but really wanted an unmedicated birth and I did it! It truly makes you feel amazing and I think helps with the recovery. The breathing practiced helped me so so much and I have the pain tolerance of a child lol so I bet that will help so much. Best of luck to you and your beautiful baby!

  • @PreferablyPreK
    @PreferablyPreK Год назад +3

I'm so excited for you! I just had my first baby last month (he's napping on me while I write this 🥰) and my whole birthing experience was amazing!
After hearing many hospital birth stories from the women in my life, a lot of them were not very positive and I wanted to make sure I had a postive birth experience because it is a big deal. I researched about midwifery and felt strongly that this type of care was right for me for two main reasons: (1) I'm a healthy woman and trust my body, therefore wanted to avoid unnecessary medical intervention (like epidural, being induced, etc.) and (2) wanted personalized care in an environment where I felt relaxed and supported. My birthing center has 3 midwives and many classes like the stages of labor, breastfeeding, bottle feeding, newborn care basics, postpartum plans, etc.
I was also unsure of my pain tolerance but for me the contractions were just like really bad period cramps so they were super manageable and I would say knowing how to breathe through them is key. I only did one type of breathing, the low "moo."
I also want to recommend doing exercises on a birthing ball to help your pelvic floor. You are so right that women are built for this and epidurals didn't start being administered until the 70s so for millenia women have been having unmedicated births, trust your body. I love talking about my birth story so if you happen to actually read this and have questions, I'd be happy to answer/share more about my experience. Instagram @preferablyprek 😊

Girl breathing during labor was my number 1 fear as well. I didnt want to get lightheaded or get anxious nd then when I heard someone else's #1 advice was to "just breath" that was it. There's no need for a technique either, your body knows how to breath. No he he hoo shit, just don't tense up your abdominal muscles when you have a contraction, let it do its work, breath and open them hips! I birthed 2 healthy babies with no meds, had no pain and am a whopping 110lbs. I had my first at 27 within 4 and a half hours of labor and 45 minutes pushing on my hands and knees and my second standing next to the bed with no pushing just a couple strong contractions that brought her out. I did go with midwives and was free to shower and walk about until I literally no longer could. My best advice for anyone is, we should not birth babies on our backs, our sacrum is literally built the other way and there is also a public symphysis in our body for a reason. I know my birthing experiences were so rare and I am so greatful. I wish more could experience it the way I did. Sorry that was a lot. I love to empower other women to trust their bodies. I'd love to chat more if your interested. I hope this was useful. I wish you the best and keep in mind it can only last so long and it will be over with a baby to hold afterwards.

Hey and congrats!! Been tuning in for a few years now and love your content. I have 18-month-old twins and I totally relate about needing to get your eight hours of sleep. This was actually something I was very worried about when I was pregnant. I don’t know if you’ve ever heard of a night nanny or night nurse, it’s basically a person that comes and stays with the baby overnight. I had a night nurse from the time we brought the boys home until they were three months old for three nights a week. It was a total lifesaver to be able to have a solid night’s sleep a few days a week. It can be a little pricey, we paid about $250 a night. But, it was worth every penny in my opinion. Anyways, just wanted to share that with you, hope you have a great day!

Breathing helps but the medical grade hypnosis techniques are so powerful. Plus the 6 week course will educate you on all things pregnancy, labor, medical interventions etc.

I try to never hand out unsolicited advice to people I don't know but I'll just say that the best advice *I* ever got when I was pregnant was to NOT treat my body like it's broken. I walked 2 miles to work every day with my first pregnancy and I credit that with giving me the EASIEST pregnancy and childbirth ever. I'm talking 2 hours of labor/4 good pushes and it was over. It helps keep your hip joints flexible, expands your pelvis, keeps your lower back muscles strong and gets the baby into optimum position at the end. Obviously talk to your doc but I hate seeing women advising other women to lower their activity during pregnancy...that's probably the worst thing to do for most of us.
And I LOVE the idea of you getting back into teaching mode...I enjoy your content regardless of topic (and the switch to reno content was fun) but you are a natural born teacher!

In my opinion birth feels like extremely strong cramps then you push like you’re pooping them out. I liked the epidurals. Ask for support in front of you to hold on while they stick you. If it’s your man it feels better but a nurse will do. Nurses don’t really tell you anything unless you ask and the hospital experience is just tiring very hard to rest the 2-3 days you’re there.

Maybe birth photographer... Not to share to the world but so you have the memories. Honestly, I hardly remember the birth of both my babies. Mommy brain makes it foggy so you are willing to do it again 😂

Mom of one boy here. Content creater and renovator. There is no way i’m not going to continue watching your videos ❤

In regard to the sleeping, schedule schedule schedule as soon as the baby is born. You have good sleep habits already so make baby part of it from the start. We’re 4 for 4 with good sleeping babies, and I really think it has to do with schedule from the start. 😊 also, I subbed to you fall 2019 and I can’t believe I’m watching this video!

Yes there are other people like that! My mom always said that we need to watch our babies for a bit after their born and they’ll tell us their name!! ❤❤ Many blessings my dear!!

Congrats! My wife and I are having our first next month and it's all pretty exciting. Trying to figure out how work on my own RUclips channel is going to be after that happens but hey, I've been consistent for the last 2.5 years thanks to you and others so I know it'll work out.

Thanks for taking time to share your life! I’m excited and so glad to hear you will be able to take care of little one together as a unit. Sounds like a lot happening behind the scenes! Congrats on all of it!

I am so very happy for you!! I am excited for everything you share! I desperately hope I can make it to your retreat! You can be as quiet about any parts you want and hopefully most of us will respect that. I will say I'm sad you're not moving forward with merch, I get it, but I love representing your mission and supporting you! ❤ Cheering you on in everything you do! My fiancee and I are having "an elopement that got out of hand" our county doesn't do courthouse weddings, so we were going to have to have something little, so we decided to invite some people... Tough to keep it small now. And about a month after the wedding we're doing a cross country move, scary but exciting, but a lot to plan all at once!

Hold up.. I'm still watching. Your Mom gave birth unmedicated and he was sunny side up?? Can I buy your Mom a drink?? LOL My first born was sunny side up. I was young at the time (this was 1991), but I still remember it like it was yesterday! Kudos to Mom!

As someone who's had two babies with no meds, one without hypnobirthing and one with, may I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend hypnobirthing to you!!! I mean, I was so lazy I only read the book and listened to the CD about twice, because baby no 2 came 2 weeks early and I was SO grumpy the night before, I refused to listen to the CD and instead went to bed listening to Paul McKenna's "I Can Make You Rich"… LOL! Needless to say that was not a good choice as I woke up in labour and I am still not rich. 🤣 But boy that hypnobirthing stuff WORKS. Good Luck with it all!

Yes to hypnobirthing 🙌🏽 I recommend “Hypnobabies” home program specifically. Had 2 babies pain-free at home, planning to do so again for my 3rd this year 💜
