Thanks for pointing out the retouching and showing the before and after. For a while , it was so soft I thought the pictures were out of focus. Maybe we are getting used to sharper renderings, but I honnestly found it unnatural. Way to close to some phone protrait filters for my taste. Nonetheless, great work.
Best review of this lens so far. Nice job Matt! I think we're all waiting to see a "V" version of the 80mm. I own the old one and I love the look but hate the experience.
Whoa whoa whoa, what the hell is that? Is that the beginning of a bicep vein? Matt's over here quietly getting in great shape thinking people won't notice 👍
The colour science isn’t that great , no? I’m using the Leica SL system and I very much prefer the colours there. I really want to jump into medium format but… if it’s only resolution what you get and not a better image quality …. Or stylish image quialty… then … 😅
in theory you should get better signal to noice performance and thus more dynamic range. especially considering the fact that most modern 35mm cameras have worth dynamic range than a couple of generation ago in order to get the crazy auto focus performance. don't know if the current leica's have the same problem as the nikon z8/9. the d810/850 has better overrall dynamic range than the current z8/9. might be different, because panasonic electronic engineers are some of the best you can get and those are in the end of the day the once responsible for the electronics in leica cameras. on the other hand leica optics are about the best you can buy. they still manufacture there own glass, because none of the big suppliers can ensure the quality leica demands. that is also the reason for the crazy high prices.
Schneider and Rodenstock have better glass. If you want to go MF figure out what works for you because honestly, an older CCD back is a larger sensor and has great portrait colors. Get a Phase One DF or DF+ for a steal, or even an H4D-40 which is gorgeous if you never go over 640 ISO. You can get into the H4D for around $2500 with a few lenses.
@@FastAkira I can tell you, calibrate everything. Hassy and Phase One calibrate their sensors individually, nobody else on the market does. Next weekend I am shooting a Phase One iQ3 100mp back alongside an X2D. For cost, they are neck and neck (P1 beingCPO) but they have different things going for them and I am going to decide what I want to buy from that test.

I can't even afford to watch a Hasselbald video, but that X2D is a piece of art. Would love to try one out someday.
Looks nice
Nice addition. I'd love to see a 105/4P, or even perhaps a 135 or 150/5.6 or 4.8 in this P range.
You and me both!
I wish everyone a great day ❤ and thank you for the video Matt.

I have the 38, 55 and 90 XCD lenses. Give me a new 120 macro and I’m done.
Thanks Matt!! Thanks for showing us everything from EVERYONE.
90mm is the killer..loved it always

haha, thanks :). I dont know which scene you are talking about, but that's very kind of you
@mattgranger…. Z 50 1.2 or H 75P? What’s your preference?
All great lens but I use the 65 and 55 a lot more. As you said depends what you are doing.
Very great video thanks Matt
Thanks for the comparaison and it look like a Beautiful Rolex Midas 👌
Thanks. Actually a Toledano & Chan. 👍
@ ohhh nice! it’s the first time I saw it. Really nice piece the bracelet look a bit like the Midas
Awesome & Thanks Sir :)
Excellent video!! Looks like you been workin out too. Must be all that expensive gear your lifting :)
Haha. The more expensive the camera, the better the grip strength required :)
I will stick with my dslr and kit lens

@ money not being an issue , I’m looking for a medium format camera that gives better colours than my Leicas and Nikons
