    Spot on about Carlos! The dude is not a freakin machine. He loves being with family and friends and it is evident that the constant travel and away from home wear on him by the end of the season. He wears his heart on his sleeve. I hope he never changes but I do wish that he can find the proper balance between the tennis schedule and rest/recovery 🤞

    Overshadowed by Sinner's outlier of a season, so many forget about Carlos' injuries and illness in 2024, the ankle and forearm (his bread and butter), sick as hell in ATP finals. However he still won 2 slams (not just any 2... the Channel Slam), Olympic Silver, defeated #1 H2H 3-0. Broke records for all court versatility, charismatic AF, a joy to watch and great ambassador for the game of tennis. Yeah and he's 21. 👏

    “Arthur Fils doesn’t really have a signature win this year.” Did I hallucinate Hamburg this year? No one is talking about how he won a 500 title beating world #2 Alexander Zverev in the final on his home court! If that’s not a signature win, I don’t know what is. Does it have to be best of 5?
    Not sure why he’s been getting so slept on lately. I understand people are skeptical of indoor season, but this a young player improving very fast and with decent results on all surfaces.

    • @parkercrossland410
      @parkercrossland410 25 дней назад

      I like Fils. He needs to be better about not getting upset by lower ranked players. It's the challenge a lot of the young high ranked players besides Carlos and Sinner face today. They can knock off anyone on a good day, but they can also lose to players outside the top 100 regularly. I need to see a 90% win rate against players outside the top 40, even at the expense of having fewer top 10 wins. For young players, you'd like to see them eliminate bad days against weaker opposition.

    Just got back into tennis at 53. Only played for a few years in my late teens. Life and lack of accessibility pulled me away from the sport. But just this year, my stepdaughter expressed interest in playing tennis and joining her highschool team. I couldn't have been more excited to get back into a sport I truly love. After such a long hiatus, I needed to re aquaint myself to the players on tour and that's when I found your RUclips channel. So I love listening to your show. You guys definitely have a passion for the sport as I can hear it in your voices. Keep up the great work! I'm definitely a fan of the show and look forward to next year! Gotta fight for tennis man! It's truly a great sport! And ok, I get why people like pickleball, and it has its place, but good lord don't let that 'sport' overtake tennis. I see the few tennis courts in my area spray painted with pickleball lines inside of it. And it looks awful. Tennis is an art with a rich history..... And well pickleball.... Hmmmmmm....

    When people talk about Zverev not winning a major, I always think the fact he has t1 diabetes seems to be forgotten. Sinner used to lose against good defensive players (for example Medvedev or even Altmaier) due to a lack of variety. Just as recent as 2023 he was almost purely a big hitter, but without a really big serve. Improving the serve in 2024 really opened up way more possibilities to him.

  • @damijanicki

    You missed out on one important fact about Hubi Hurkacz. His primary traveling coach is Nicolas Massu not Ivan Lendl. Massu won US Open as a coach with Thiem and was so to say ‚decent’ player himself. All of this, to win his first GS title. I cheer for him, however I find extremely difficult. More over he played only 2/3 of 2004 season, after injury at Wimbledon. He is a victim of Iga’s achievements, being not fully appreciated for his own successes. Funny to say in a country where they basically never had a top players nor GS champions, a guy who is top ten (previously) player, who is capable of winning Masters tournaments, does not get his credits. Just to be clear I’m Polish.

    I'm Bulgarian so obviously biased but really can't figure out why your comment about Grigor is literally less than a minute)). Yes he has a long history on the tour having beaten all of the Big Three but last year he did a tremendous success (take into an account he's 33). Also, he beat Alcaraz last year in Miami and he has 2 wins against Sinner (last one in Beijing 2023). I know at the age of 33 injuries hit way harder, especially in a long run but please, share your thoughts, if Grigor manage to stay in a good fit for any of the majors this year, do you reckon he's able to beat either Sinner or Alcaraz? My humble opinion is - technically and experientially , yes ...physically, maybe only if it's been a straight three sets win on a major...but in the masters he has way more chances.

    Guys who have to start getting to the net A LOT more often to improve: Khachanov, Hurkacz, Tsitsipas, Medvedev, Dimitrov, Fritz
    Rune and Tsitsipas need routine and emotional stability from their respective teams
    I would LOVE to see Wilson get de Minaur a more powerful frame

The eye test cannot be used as proof. For the record, I also think it's more likely that Sinner did not willingly take anything (nor did what he took boost his performance).

He's probably going to get great results in the coming years but be so fr people act like he's gonna be number 1 next week cause of a tournament that has a totally different format from the regular tour. After his next gen finals win sinner was top 70 (though that was partially because of covid), alcaraz was top 40. I can see fonseca making the top 100 but his ranking rn is still low enough he's gonna have to go through qualifiers to make most big tournaments (cause he's not gonna get a wc for everything) and he's 18, he still needs a little bit of time to cook

      For me the best male player never to win a major is Miroslav Mecir. For women's it's Helena Sukova. She lost twice in final to Evert, one to Martina & one to Steffi. Sometimes you have to play in weak era to win slams like Raducanu, Ostapenko etc.

    Doing him dirty?? You literally just repeated what they said… “A lot to like”, “ability to go deep”, and “predict him to go up in the rankings in 2025”.
    Seriously, did you even listen? I mean, THEY didn’t rank him 20, that’s his actual ATP ranking based on performance.

    Oh come on, beat Roger at Wimbledon..... Hubie is good on grass, we know, but let's be real about that match. A bagel??? on Centre Court??
    Credit to Roger for humiliating himself like that to give HH a win and not a career-ending first ever retirement. Bad enough ending on a bagel - on CC, but let's tone down "HH beat Roger- at Wimby!!"

      @@Rory626agree. It was a comeback tournament as well, and being of really old age. A miracle sort of to reach the QF. People don't realize with all the "Djokovic longevity talk" that the equivalent age for Novak to do that is in 2027 (he is almost six years younger, and I think will be retired before that). Last year Novak was 36/37 which equates to Federer 2018 (winning a major). hurkacz himself surely does not gloat about that win.

    "Everything that's not hard is Alcaraz's territory".
    I disagree: well, clay is definitely Alcaraz's surface, Sinner cannot take advantage of his main weapon, anticipation. But i think grass suits more Sinner than Alcaraz, serve and return are way too important on this surface and these areas where Sinner dominates.
    SInner's Wimbly was affected by the doping case, the day before his match against Medvedev he had to attend an online meeting with the indipendent tribunal. During the match on the following day he asked an MTO after one set, he wasn't feeling ok.
    I think, at the end of their careers, Sinner will collect more Wimbledon that the spaniard.

    • @fwvw7056
      @fwvw7056 Месяц назад

      Meanwhile the nuance also goes the other way: Alcaraz beat Sinner 3-0 on the tour this year and twice on (slow/mid) hardcourts. So agree that Sinner will win Wimbledon at least once but Alcaraz also plays well on the hardcourts. And he is learning already to play indoor fast with his flattened backhand. O and Alcaraz did show the past two years Wimbledon isn't mostly about the biggest serves anymore (slicing, dropshots, variety in short all matter). Hard to predict the future but these two will win each of the slams during their careers (Sinner e.g. went to 5 sets against Alcaraz on the FO this year).

    Fearnley is god awful. One first serve out of 6 serves and two df. In one game. Wtf? Club level. He should quit the circuit. There is no hope for this level. Average to below average serve and ground strokes. At Janniks age and just not good.
