Thanks for an awesome content. In MI4, Tango and Cash, Rush hour 2, they slide on electric cables (wires), that are covered with some kind of an isolation material, that would probably reduce the friction
DEFINITELY should've oiled the line, would be both safer on the material and FASTER for you guys. Definitely one of my favorite Movie-like vids from Anton
I think if the belt you had used was of higher quality it would have survived. Whenever I've used those $10-$30 "leather" belts I had to buy a next one a year later. 4 years ago I've decided to buy myself a sturdy $100+ (I think it was somewhere around $160) made out of real leather and it still looks good and works well. The belt is heavy and I actually think that you could slide down with it if you needed to (probably once, but still)
Kangaroo leather belt, properly stitched and you could double layer it. The problem with cheap belts is they use a filler like cardboard in the middle.
you are aware that in a country like the United States there is a huge amount of meat, hence farms, hence cattle. a piece of leather can't cost 100 bucks, a whole skin made in Italy costs 300 bucks. 20-30 belts can be made from it. I live in Ukraine, here you can buy a leather belt made of calfskin or buffalo for 25 bucks. it will be a 40mm and 3.5mm thick piece of real leather lol. And this is an overpayment for an automatic buckle. With a regular buckle, it'll be 20 bucks. And about 50 bucks for a deerskin belt. (these belts live 10+ years) At the same time, you have more leather in your country, someone claims that 60% of all leather goes to Nike and Adidas products, but I think this is not true. artificial shortage and inflated prices.😢
It doesn't matter. 200lbs of force on the belt while sliding down a cable will cut any leather you can think of. Maybe a conceal carry belt that has a steel shim inside would work?
David's belt and strap attempts vividly reminded me of when I was kid's camp guide in my late teens. We had a trapeze that you were supposed to jump on from a platform about 6 meters high. I went after all the kids and that wooden trapeze just instantly snapped in two 🤣 A bit of a scary moment, but there was of course a safety harness and I was fine.
People think because people who ride bikes wear leather to help when they crash that leather is king… any tow truck drivers or bike riders in the comments? I already know the answer but tell us all how the leather actually holds up? Better yet… any cow farmers in the comments? Or tailors? I will take an upholsterer? Yeah leather is strong no doubt… but it can be cut and rip.
Тэкс, подписочка.... Что-то потерял тебя после просмотра видоса с Магнусом, а зачем - не понятно...) Радостно видеть, что всё так же занимаешься любимым делом, успехов, Антон!
Really fun. Next time you can try if the ropes they use work. In the last try, i think nylon could do it if the rope wasn't a extraslim metal. Also can try more items.
Next, try put lubricant on the zipline like you did with the cliff-hanger, then maybe you'll get some good speed with random items, maybe even the gloves!
Nice video. For the nylon strap, you say that it was supposed to be belts, but looked like nylon straps, I think those two are not necessarily exclusive. I'm thinking of some belts made of slightly thick Nylon/Polyester, like the ones from Black Diamond in their "Clothes / accessories". Also, the leather belt looked a bit thin/cheap, maybe a belt of better quality would've lasted a few meters at least, instead of snapping almost instantly.
Great work, if I may ad the falure of a belt was probobaly because it was not made from a real lether it snap way too quick, also nylon belt in the movie was used in a rain which may have cooling and lubricating efect
Cool. Thanks! good to know. Thus when Tango and Cash were trying to escape from the prison, by sliding on a electrical power line with their belts, they actually supposed to die! on the other side all action heroes were sliding using a thicker cable, which will change thing significantly.
You could try cut resistant gloves which are metal chain made and will probably work. Although I have a feeling they'd burn and cook your hands from the friction.
I love your videos but I'm pretty sure any kind of decent proper leather belt would've survived a little better than the one you chose! Maybe idk tbh. It looked like leatherboard in the interior which is terrible for friction plus although it wouldn't have changed much, The doc has what looks like plain ol'leather gloves on in the movie not masonry ones! Lol. Cool to note the handcuffs survived though!
10:25 I think that could be legit. Seems like regular rope, or at least something that is thicker, so load is not on tiny single point. Plus it's raining which will take some friction wear off.
Before using handcuffs as an escape device be sure, that this is real handcuffs, not a toys-replica, and that you have a key. just in case ;) *in some movie it was used as a rappel devise (fig 8 / friction frame)
the problem is you were using an naked wire sling (had greater sharpness and friction force). not an cable jacketed sling or rope as shown in movie clip
Its possible anyway. 90% is the rope/cord/cable on which you gonna drive on. 10% is on the objects that you gonna use to attach to the rope. If you have slippery rope you gonna slide on it no matter what objects you gonna use. Even with gloves. With thicker gloves you gonna slide as well. Lubricant is key to sucess. And always you can attach slippery object to your gloves. Even large coin with two strings will do the job. Strenght of the material matters. There are belts that can do that. And nylon straps as well.
The belt maybe diffrent in movie rember he is a spy thus it could be kevlar inside. Or by way he leaps onto the zip line it might be able to reduce the friction. Also weight be diffrenr between David and Mr Tom cruise
This isn't a genuine leather belt! Try with a 3-4 mm thick leather belt and it going different! In "Back to the future" I think that the cable was steeper! But remember please: safety first!!!😂😂😂
Anton you’re wonderful & I love all of your videos. They’re even better when your friend come over to play. Do you think you’ll try out for the next ANW? ✌️💙
Ha brings memories back when I was a kid building treehouses and we made zip lines from high up in the tree we used all sorts of rubbish to find the fastest way down if I remember a old bike handle bar worked the best the stupidest thing I used was a wire coat hanger it unrounded and I fell from a height and must have hit every branch on the way down I remember mates laughing as I lay there winded and all cut up . Fun times looking back at it what a bunch of idiots we where
"MI6?" "No, you're 38."
Underrated joke, Anton!
Glad you like it 💪😅

Your contents so creative and entertaining to watch Keep it up!! 😁😁

I feel like I am bonding more and more with every member of Traverse each time Anton's video comes out lol
Anton, thank you, after the week I've had, I'm so grateful for such a fun and upbeat video to relax a bit and feel enthused for life again :)
The Back to the Future part 🤣😂🤣
Glad you like movie theme!💪😂 thank you!💪

MAN!!! I haven't seen DAvid Campbell since when he made it the third stage of SASUKE in Japan!!!! you got a real OG hero on your show!
"You can't do this, its not safe" - Dave Campbell
"So I got a new safety guy..." - Tom Cruise
Aaaaah... a new Anton video, I don't usually make soppy statements all over but you sir, improve a lot of people's lives.
I'm so glad the handcuffs actually worked, my childhood is saved. Great vid as always!!
This was fun and interesting to watch. Would love to see this be a mini series.

I've had a proper leather belt for 15 years now. a little scuffed up here and there, but it should have another 15 years left in it before it dies.
you are aware that in a country like the United States there is a huge amount of meat, hence farms, hence cattle. a piece of leather can't cost 100 bucks, a whole skin made in Italy costs 300 bucks. 20-30 belts can be made from it. @@kerbalairforce8802 It might have worked for Tom Cruise because he's not very tall, hence he has less weight to pull on that belt.
lmao that belt disintegrated instantly.
Maybe if it was a better quality belt it could have worked, great video Anton.
Great episode. There was this tv show where you have 3 choices and you have to make the right decision to survive. This feels like that.
Nice!)
I would argue that Ethan Hunt would not have a cheap 16$ belt. I'd like see how a proper leather belt would hold up
It was prison-issue, no?
Yeah, they got state of the art government equipment.
@@thomasbecker9676 No, this was after he was at the Russian building that blew up. He was at the hospital.
@@neaituppi7306 Oh right, when he was framed for the Kremlin.
Maybe a little better but it would surely not survive an long wire. It might even have more friction but higher durability. Which would make you stuck
Wow that 1st fall freaked me out! You guys are crazy lol
Tango and Cash used the belt before Tom Cruise!Nice demonstration!

A real leather belt should hold!
I tried this experiment when I was a teenager over 20 years ago!
My dads leather belt Did Not Hold!!!!
😂😂😂
@@davidsr9719 at least your dad didn't have a belt to whip you with lol
If it’s “genuine” leather, it probably wouldn’t work. If it’s full grain it should

Если лысик качался без химии он невероятно крут!!! Спасибо за видео!))
well in fairness, Tango and Cash used belts, not straps, that were soaking wet with the rain, reducing any friction as well.
thanks !

Антон придумал прикольно, но страшно за людей наверху.
The gloves in back to the future were slick leather. Probably still wouldn’t slide but they are definitely less grippy than what you used.

You could try cut resistant gloves which are metal chain made and will probably work. Although I have a feeling they'd burn and cook your hands from the friction.
In the movie as well as in life when u have wet leather gloves grabbing a wet cable they slide pretty easy
take a friction less surface that you can pinch on the glove
iam 100% sure that a proper quality leather belt wouldnt snap like that
I love your videos but I'm pretty sure any kind of decent proper leather belt would've survived a little better than the one you chose! Maybe idk tbh. Most childhood injuries resulted from this
Silicone spray would have made all those stunts slide far more easily. We use it for trick shots on pool tables. Reduces friction massively.
Did in the movie there is silicone spray on the line ?
Yay!
What? "Tango and Cash" doesn't have quotable lines? "I believe in Perestroika" said by Saveliy Kramarov is great one.
the problem is you were using an naked wire sling (had greater sharpness and friction force). not an cable jacketed sling or rope as shown in movie clip
Could we have another Jon Brown Collab sometime 😂🤣 If not, its fine, i just really like those vids! I love these just as much, just a suggestion!
A great example of how movies give us unrealistic expectations as kids 😅. What kid didn’t want to jump and slide down a zip line??

I saw a 38mm or 1.5 inch nylon ribbon stress test, it broke at 163lbs or 73kg. Wasn't surprised when david fell after ripping the strap
Btw in movies characters use smth on rope instead steel cable. With some materials rope would be way more smoother
That belt broke like paper!

crazy idea, Anton vs a monkey🐒see how good they are at ninja warrior and see if you can keep up, get a monkey in the gym! haha😄
The handcuff ones I remember the jackie chan movie. New Police Story
Doc Brown actually had something under his gloves. If you slow the footage down, you can see it. I've sure the actor was still attached, but...
Surprised that the cuffs didn't fail.
In movies somes ropes are not metal , they are cables. So try the belt and other things on cables as well
This isn't a genuine leather belt! Try with a 3-4 mm thick leather belt and it going different! In "Back to the future" I think that the cable was steeper! But remember please: safety first!!!😂😂😂
I think the cuffs work so long as they are double locked so they do not squeeze the hangs and break them/
It’s was raining in back to the future Sean so would it be wet and oily
That first fall at 4:40 made me glad I wasn't there.. ignorance is bliss 🙈
...the handcuff test wasn't quite right, but a real 1:1 comparison would probably just be a repeat of the chain test.
Anton you’re wonderful & I love all of your videos. They’re even better when your friend come over to play. Do you think you’ll try out for the next ANW? ✌️💙
Nope… not yet.
Actually Tom Cruise and Sylvester Stallone slide down on a smooth electric cable and not a rough metal zip-line! And the Stallone cable was also wet!
Is this belt made of cardboard?
Maybe alot lubrication would make the gloves very smooth. Oil or soap. But the grip would be very hard.
